So, I watched this show awhile ago, and it was a love harem, and as we speak, the banner is of Kaede from Shuffle. Now, for those of you that have seen it, did you feel like the entire beginning was filler until Kaede freaked out in episode 19 and made this show one of the best ever made? I say best because I found the art, animation, and voice acting during the turbulent ending to be amazing. You kind of forget about the fantasy aspect of the show, makes me almost think that the director came back mid swing during the show and was like "wtf you guys doing?" and changed it. Thoughts?

Someone on another forum put forward an interesting theory regarding that. She suggested that the first half is more reflecting the carefree nature of student life and the series becomes darker and more mature later on to reflect the occurances later on.
Anyway, I think the complexities start around the Primula arc. It's where we start to see relationships develop and Rin's resolve strengthening with the support of his friends.

Hmm I didin't think of it like a filler. To me it was more like a very good introduction of the characters. And I agree with magicsword that the "real story" starts with/after Primulas arc. What makes me a little uneasy is the special, which will air this month I think. Hopefully they don't destroy the series with it. The ending was just fine with me... q.q

The basic storyline to Shuffle! follows the romantic life of Rin Tsuchimi, a normal human, Japanese high schooler, who finds himself being sought after by a variety of girls. The world of Shuffle! consists of humans living in harmony with gods (with slightly pointed ears) and devils (with very pointed ears). Despite their respective positive and negative connotations, both races are equally kind and good-natured. Rin soon finds himself as the potential marriage candidate for both Sia (Lisianthus) and Rin (Nerine), the two daughters of the kings of the god and devil worlds who recently transferred to Rin's school. In addition to them, he is also liked by his childhood friend Kaede, his senior Asa, and the mysterious, reserved Primula. Through the course... And story goes on.....
Anyways, like I said on last forum of Shuffle. This anime came first on PC game (H-Game). But recently I found out that it came out even in PS2 (Clean version with extra chara story). Here and there, sadly they didn't make it in USA yet (Both PC & PS2), But if you can get a hands on them, I would recomend it!!!! All the chara story is SO~~~~ GOOD!
I hope it help out
Oh one more thing. This year, they're making another "Shuffle!" anime. It's gonna be called "Shuffle Memories"

Actually I am watching Shuffle---the series1 these days, but I don’t like it very much,it is too fantastic to believe,I can’t imagine that someone is so luckly that he can be loved by so many beautiful girls(I don’t like the design of some female characters,I only love two of all the girls)~it sounds that I am envying the main male character,of course I am since I am also a man~~~ I haven’t watch its new series---SHUFFLE! Memories yet,and to series 1 I have only watched a little,so I don’t know the main story, and so I want to know if it is worthy watched,if it is,how do you feel about its story.

im personaly rooting for sia but i also like asa-sempai so im a lil torn between the two, im hoping he gets to use that multiple wives thing from the god realm to marry em all cuz that would be cool (which is secretly my own dream >.>.....) anyway im looking forward to shuffle memories and im hoping its a continuation instead of just an OVA type thing

No, I don't think that the first half of the series were filler episodes. For one, the beginning was to build up the characters and introduce them and their problems, and through this they told the story. Once the audience knew the characters enough, they were able to move the plot more and get into the exciting stuff.

I think its a pretty good anime. Since its only on subtitles, I wouldn't understand a word. But the pictures on it look pretty cute.

Shuffle! is great during the first half, and amazing during the second, and that is because the first half, while it could be considered filler, is really there to get you to liking the characters. Rin really does not seem to be thinking about which girl he is going to date. Truthfully, I do not think he cares at that point. After all, God and Satan basically tossed their daughters at him and said "Pick one!"
It is not really until after the Primula event that I see Rin seriously considering any of the girls for his romantic interest, and then I am pretty sure this is only in a "well, they *are* all hot, so I will consider" kind of attitude, until he actually fall in love with one of them, that is, and that is also when all of the famous drama happens. To tell the truth... I did not really care for Kaede as a character until she tried to kill Asa. Up until then, she just seemed to be little more than your typical "girl with unrequited love who will do anything for the guy she has a huge crush on". You know, the kind of girl who will simply just give up if her unrequited love turns to someone other than her. After she lashed out at Asa for dating Rin, she became more human. Then, when she spoke to Asa and gave her blessing, she became easier to sympathize with. Not to mention, when Nerine and Lysianthus see that Rin really loves Asa, they decide to put aside their own personal feelings (they did pretty much confess, after all) and help set up their dates.
I actually attribute that development to what happened at the beginning. Seeing the everyday school life of all the characters, as well as their struggles to get the attentions of Rin. It all seemed like a friendly competition at the start, in fact (rather like Maburaho, another series I absolutely love).

Complexities, you say...
Yes. Very complex. ^_^
FUYOU KAEDE FOR THE WIN!!! (And bonus referrences for the fanartist for 'Mr and Mrs Smith')
In any case, I'm a RABID Shuffle! fan and a Kitto Kitto Kaede fan member, and I would like to tell to anyone who hasn't seen Shuffle! to WATCH IT! It's not your typical harem anime. Love Hina is good in regards to drama and comedy, Shuffle is good for the complexities of life later on in the story, and the fanservice.
You should DEFINITELY give Shuffle! a try!
