I stupidly uploaded some Fire Emblem scans that were underneath the filesize limit.
They were really good quality and easy to work with.
My question is, does it really have to be humongous?

It is not always the amount of details that makes a good wallpaper. Sometimes, a simple yet unique idea (in this case to find a certain screenshot from an anime) can create a lovely wallpaper for Valentine's day. popiahime's "Pikachu's Valentine" is funny to look at (I totally love the bottle's design!), and it composes a sweet design for people's desktops. Even though I'm not a big fan of white backgrounds, this one fits really well to the composition and the rest of the colours.

It doesn't have to be, but it has to be at least 1200px in HEIGHT, not width.

In fact 1175 pixels is a piddling image, that I personally probably wouldn't even bother without vectoring so I could enlarge it.
The basic purpose of the gallery is for it to contain wallable character images. Not just to be a collection of cool images or whatever. That's why we have rules relating to text coverage, size amd quality and don't accept duplications.
If the character in the wall is less than 1175 pixels do not submit it - you'll probably just end up loosing a bunch of papers :/.
