i've been thinking for a long time to post this topic here...:) anyway, when i went to taiwan for a performance for about 4 years ago the students there actually took me and some of my friends to eat snakes!!!! ( no kidding....of course, it was cooked )
we went to a street which sells exotic and strange stuff and there are actually some shops that you can really eat some weird stuff...be it snakes, turtles, insects....and others ( some are illegal...) anyway,,the snake's meat is cook in a herbal mixture so you actually don't know it is a snake since the aroma of herbal is kinda thick...plus,it just looks like the neck of the chicken ( you can imagine it if ouy've eaten it before) with lots of bone.
but, i reallly can't understand that some girls in my group actually believe that it is chicken's neck!!! don't know what they are thinkig since you can see everything on snakes in that shop!!! besides, i also saw the way people kill snakes for blood in that street.it is sooo cruel...they just slit up the snake alive and lets the blood flows into a container.the snake are torturing in pain and it really makes me feel sick about it. people just mix it with honey and water to drink it...all of us just don't have the guts to drink it...yuck!!! people actually believe that it is good to eat snakes during winter (huh?)
now....when i tell my friends that i do eat snake before...they will think that it is sucks...but i do think that it is cool since i can show off....lol ( maybe i'm crazy..) glad that i don't get SARS for that :faint: it is kindda cruel to the animal and i don't think i'll do it again....

Let's see...unhatched duck embryo, chicken head, chicken feet, chicken entrails, dog meat, frog meat, iguana meat, snake meat, snake wine, cat meat, smoked anchovies, pig blood, and deer. I have yet to try rats, worms, and locusts. Long live Philippine Cuisine! XD
But the most disgusting things I've tried are Natto (fermented soy beans), and some "candy" called Indy Dedos. For a review on Indy Dedos, see http://www.bad-candy.com/candies/indydedos/

I think I just lost my appetite :P I think probably the weirdest thing I've eaten is the congealed blood thing they put in soups.

Chitterlings is about as weird as I've ever had, and it was such a long, long time ago that I don't even remember if I liked it or not. x_x I just remember that it smelled awful , and since then I visibly shudder and at even the mere mention of it. I don't get out much, though I think it'd be fun to go and try exotic foods for a day. Just a day, not all the time. XD

LOL. Indeed~! Balot's the best. :3 Though it isn't considered 'weird food' around here anyway. XD A friend once made me eat horse meat. *blech* I didn't like the taste one bit. >.<

I was blindfolded and forced to east canned dog food one night....I wont ever forget that >.>Um then for a contest I ate something really disgusting but I don't know what it was xD. Something like cranberry juice, garlic paste, pickle juice, several types of nuts, and it was all blended together. There were a couple more things but I cant ember what they were, anyway it tasted awful!

when i was in vietnam, i ate this coconut tree worm (im not even sure if this is what you call them). it was pretty damn nasty. when you bite it, the outside is somewhat crunchy, but the inside is super soft and is like a cream. it tastes really sour and nasty. it was one of the sickest things i've eaten. damn my dad for telling me it tastes really good. but now i know what it feels like to be a surivior contestant and eat those bugs >.< bleh.

Hmm....I suppose the weirdest thing I've eaten would be jellyfish. My family in Hong Kong used to order it at restaurants when we went out for dinner. The only memory I have of the experience was that I didn't enjoy it much - I was probably too young to appreciate why it was a delicacy. Ditto for shark fin soup, which was a usual feature at wedding banquets - it was always served in luxurious golden soup bowls and eaten with golden spoons decorated with dragons on the handle. I was usually more interested in the pretty tableware than the actual soup.
Ooh no wait! No the weirdest thing I've eaten is actually toad fat. It's used in a Chinese dessert. I don't remember at all but my mum assures me it doesn't taste of anything.

yeah... long live Philippine Cuisine... we have the one of the weirdest menus on this side of the world. and i have to agree, it's not anymore weird to us. to other people maybe. i've eaten once and well, it tasted all right. anyway, i've eaten something called 'bayawak' in the province once... tasted like chicken. seriously.
and try that one in california, where they make candied apples out of caramel and worms... i nearly threw up at my brother when i ate that... *shudders*

Mom was trying weird recipes and made a soup entirely of bananas and I forgot what else. It was so nasty and she wouldn't let us leave the table until we finished. That's grounds for cruel and very sick punishment.

For me, most of the weird stuffs I've eaten are mostly made by me during barbeques, like chicken meat hard as a rock, and I had to swallow it, next would be the semi-cooked raw meats, some tasted too hard on the outside and totally raw inside, some over-cooked on some sides, etc... other than those made by me, would be some type of pills made from "charcoal"(which was what I heard)... all of them tasted bad. The only "weird" stuff(at least to me its weird) that I've tried before thats nice would be the dog biscuits, some really tasted good.. lol
