I'm a huge fan of green tea, In my neighborhood there's a japanese restaraunt that serves fresh green tea. I've tried many kinds of green tea but the freshly brewed loose leaf tea is the best. Every time I go there I drink at least 1 1/2 pitchers. Is anyone else a fan of green tea, or do you have any green tea techniques you'd like to share?

Green tea is great, especially all the healthy attributes it is supposed to have. I have some whenever I can...in restaurants, at home, and ESPECIALLY when I can get it in ice cream form! Green tea rules!

Gosh, that's an awful lot. It's good and healthy and all, and I like it myself, but isn't there supposed to be something about consumption in moderation?

I don't get many chances to dine out at nice places that serve green tea, so I usually settle for tea bags. =( I like sucking on tea bags after they're used - green tea or black alike. My mom thinks it's gross. I like getting every last bit out of the tea bag. Anyone else does this?

The bottled ones are terrible, and worse, some actually have the guts to boast about the health benefits of green tea. I don't really trust those guys. =b

Never like Tea. The only type I can stand is Oolong. That's really only good at this one Chinese reastaruant I go to though. If course, I don't like coffee either.

Green tea also helps to cleanse your disgestion system as your body absorbs it.

I like green tea too... its great cleansing drink... although I would really want to try some fresh green tea... all the tea that we have are those in the tea bag... well in some cases, I would prefer tea over coffee...

Green tea is really good. It makes me feel good especially after a good meal but I don't think I can finish 1 1/2 pitchers either.

I can't stand the stuff. Black tea goes so-and-so, but green one is big no-no. Come to think of it, the only things I drink are water and milk. That's after I realized coffee wasn't good for my stomach.

have any of you tried the break time green tea, called matcha latte. Its green tea powder and you mix it with hot milk, its pretty popular in japan. I like to drink it for breakfast with a muffin (which i eat XD) or something pastery like.

I love sugarless tea. It is way healthy. It is also a way to get away from unhealthy drinks at many restaurants. Instead of getting just water, order unsweetened Ice Tea. =P I guess you get used to the acquired taste after a while. I love green tea. I recently bought a brand new tea set from o-cha.com For those who haven't tried green tea I suggest you build your way up to liking green tea.

First try out Arizona Green Ice Tea, then try oolong green tea bags with as much sugar as you see fit, then cut back until you can drink it without sugar, then switch over to japanese green tea bags and do the same process as with the oolong tea then try out the loose tea. After acquiring a taste for it, you can finally invest in some equipment helpful for brewing loose tea.

I personally get lazy sometimes and just pop in a teabag here and there or drink ITO-EN green tea. AZGT is also the best. I can drink gallons of ITO-EN and AZGT at school. =P

I don't like tea, so it doesn't matter which is it. I prefer mineral water.

To my knowledge, the Japanese brew green tea in a powdered form and only the Chinese actually keeps the leaves loose. Also Japanese green tea is milder in flavor which is why I perfer Chinese green tea. Of course green tea is a serious metabolism booster and my favorite kind of tea to boot. As for brewing the stuff ...there are tons of things to keep in mind but the main things are:

1) Use purified water...tap water tastes like crap and so your tea will taste like crap 2) Let the water cool to about 80 degrees before actually making the tea. Because green tea leaves are young..you don't want to cook the leaves as that will give you a much blander cup of tea 3) Remember that a teaspoon(the actualy utensil not the measurement) of leaves will generally yeild a tea cup of tea 4) Green tea brews anywhere from 2-5 minutes 5) Mesh strainers/tea balls for inside the teapot are generally a bad idea because the leaves need room to bloom 6) Green tea leaves will lose flavor in about a year so be sure to use it up accordingly

Obviously I'm a huge fan of tea and tea brewing. I would love to take a class in tea ceremony someday, but for the moment I'd like to pride myself in being able to brew a really nice cup of tea so long as the leaves aren't old.
