Does anyone know how to make one? What type of programs will I need? How long would it take to make a 5 second gif?
Thanks in advance

This wallpaper deserves to be highlighted because of many reasons:
The fence looks so real and detailled that you can almost touch it. In many cases, wallers copy and paste similiar objects of the background (e.g. flowers). But this fence looks like it has been drawn stroke by stroke.
The colours and combination of highlights and shadows create a dark and mysterious atmosphere which suits the manga perfectly. I'm glad dolce-yasmin didn't stick to the original colours which wouldn't be as effective as the brown tone.
Not to forget the vector itself which is not only a huge improvement of the original scan, but also shows you dolce-yasmin's improvement of her vectoring skills!

Adobe Photoshop/Image ready both have the ability to make animated gif's. I don't know how to do it, but those are the programs to use.

well i use photoshop cs2
you make layers
put frame 1 on layer 1 frame 2 on layer 2 etc...
the go to window and click on animations
then press new frame till you get as many frame as you need
the click on frame 1 and unclick all the frames (the eye on the layers tab) untill its just the frame you want
do that with all of them
then when your done go to file save for web then save it as a gif
maby later when i have time i make a gif on how to do it lol

I usualy make my animations in Animation Shop Pro (its ok for the simple things, doesnt have an extreme amount of options), Imageready and photoshop probably make better animations (I havent tried them yet for anis though)

yeah thats pretty close to what i do but i do it in PS and imageready and i switch back and forth if need be with the lil "switch to photoshop" button
i like to make simple animations from movies. like this :D http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v94/mtlsharpnel/voltron2dance03.gif
what i do is use a program called ScreenSaver...yeah i know..a common name..but its just a program where when i press PrtSc button it saves a fullscreen jpeg in a folder... and i would save a screen move the the next 2 frames and save a pic, and repeat [this could take ages!! recommend you use the lowest screen resolution possible to lower file size while still having movie at 100% mode] then i highlight all the layers and drag em into ps ...if you have more than 1GB of RAM youll be fine...if you dont ...dont do this! haha get one screen shot and drag the next screen onto it, then close it...then drag the next one on to the last and close....basically the first screencap will be your project window after i get ALL the layers in one project i crop out the edges of what isnt the video then i open it in ImageReady then at the bottom of the screen youll see a bunch of frames....and 1 frame of the current layer...what you are gonna do is have all of your layers visible...then one by one unclick the eye button, and make a new frame..yeah it gets tedious...and i cant seem to make a Photoshop Action for it... after i get all the frames i play and see if it plays right....then when im happy ill optimize it and save
anyways i probably shouldnt have even typed all that out because its in the help file of Imageready and Photoshop...druf
