As long as you don't make any profit there is no reason for them to complain about.

AMV exist in a grey zone, as mentioned above.

On the whole though, I'm for copyright laws. Not the absurd extremes it has been used for in lawsuits, but for the spirit of the laws. The part that says that if I create something you cannot make money with it without my consent.

It keeps artists fed and creating. Not everything is black and white.

so what if you hate copyright laws, boohoo poor baby! i bet you would care if someone else was stealing something you copyrighted and you were losing money! put things into perspective dont just act on your wants and preferences!

Copyright laws are being more heavily enforced lately because of the ongoing plague of movie and TV piracy going around lately. To a certain extent, I can understand it. I mean, If you were the one who owned the rights to selling stuff I wouldn't like it if just anyone could download it off the net for free.

That said, clips on YouTube and AMVs don't hurt anyone, so I don't see the problem with them.

you can talk all you want to, you are only seventeen years old and nothing you have ever done has been copyrighted or was your sole means of livelyhood. its easy to talk like you dont have a problem with it when nothing about your life depends on it. i suggest you just shut the hell up, you whiney selfish little brat.

copyright laws ??? lol...that thing makes me laugh i don't know then but the basic thing that copyright says is "don't share don't upload don't give to anyone else" ? then that mean that i need to buy a game my brother that lives 2 metters away from me have but i don''t own....for don't violate the copyright...XDD i never care about copyright . as long as ppl don't sell stuff i don't see why one should care i have a wallcrolls pointing to the windows , i'm sharing my poster!! i'm gonna go to jail !! cuz the "basic thing" the copyright says is "don't share" well i don¡'t know the exact line but more or less should be like that XDDD i don't do amvs but i colour manga pages . and have pirate things . but i don't say "those" coloured pages belong to me . i just add colour to then . but all the original characters and so belong to their respective mangakata (unless i say they belong to me i shouldn't care) . i don't make money from it . so it doesn't care to me... was gonna say something more but i forget it XD yea i remenber something on a scalantion group i read that "once a fansub clean and traslate the manga/anime" . the copyright doesn't say nothing about that . or something like that...or maybe is algo a grey zone like that thing somebody say up there , but i don't know the copyright but as above . as long as all you do/share/colour . don't say it belongs to you but the oriinal owner and you just re-touched/coloured/traslate it) i don't see a problem with it...is internet ppl should share more and stop caring about things .... the only problem i see with ppl arround internet is that idiots that steal work of others..but besides that nothing.

how i see i should be able to share wallpapers ..as long as i don't touch the wallpaper and the wallpaper itself have the nick of the dude who did it . i don't see a problem with sharing stuff... (but well i either do that but was just a little complaing about those sites like this about "the paper system " the credits of minitokyo and so..XD

btw we aren't rich ppl so i don't buy all the stuff i want . if the country rise up my payment for my job then i would buy more things and download less (oh and i don't have a job but..just in case i would have one). if prizes were lower also .

I agree with this point. I think as long as it's non profit and it's just for fun, I don't see any reason any anime company would care.
