well..it has been a long time ago since i posted stuff here to seek advice from u guys...XD

anyway, now, my course is raising fund to organize our course night next year...and they ahve been thinking of a lot of ideas to generate money. at first, they plan to sell flowers during convocation and moon cake for the mid autumn festival.. but, in my opinion, those things won't work because there are tons of people doing it and you may end up in a great compatition where the sales won't be good...

i've been thinking about selling t-shirts...but, dunno if it will works around campus. car wash, selling festive cards, valentine and christmas dedication...asking for sponsors...that's what we can think of...

well, hope that u guys can give me some ideas...coz i don't wanna end up paying more to cover the costs later ( hate to be one of the committe...:faint:)

thanks again, AP!!!

Here is something that works suprisingly well. (I'll relay the idea in dollars because I'm an American)Get a big jar and fill it with papers that have random amounts of money written on them. No amount above two dollars should be written on the papers. Or depending on how supportive your community is, maybe you should keep it to a maximum of one dollar. After you have that, you just go door to door asking if anyone would be willing to donate what amount they pull from the jar. The scout troop I was in did that several times, and it always worked pretty well.

Another thing that works well is where you charge a dollar for a raffle ticket and put the dollar in a big jug (like from a water cooler). Make sure you get double rolled tickets so that they can keep one and you can keep one with their phone number on it or something. If you don't know where to get tickets you can order them online from Oriental Trading Co. Anyway, after a day or two you draw one of your held tickets and that person gets half the money you raised. You get to keep the other half!

Yes, we also do the ticket with our fund raisings here, besides selling cookies. Anyway, you can always hit the capital market and start working on those FOREX and portfolio. If you're in a tropical country and live by the sea (like me) you can always contact the local Lobster fishermen and sell them for higher bulk price overseas. There're some who sell Tuna and Skipjack too... Carwash is absolutely no good. It takes alot of energy (+the heat) and it doesn't yield as much.

Do you absolutely have to keep it within campus? If not, try busking, if you've got the people who can perform. It works pretty well - especially if you put up a sign briefly explaining what you're raising money for. Busy places are good. Even better if there are lots of people who may be parents - they have kids too, and tend to be more generous. ;b Back when I was in the school harmonica band we pulled it off several times - to raise money to run our public concert, as well as for charity (notably after the 2004 tsunami).

try to contact a local business and see if they will donate anything for a raffle, that way people buy tickets and some one wins but you didn't spend anything on the prize, companies do that to get their name out there.
