not many have the concentration to listen to music while reading their favorite manga. If you are one of the ones who can or do, what kind of music goes along with ur manga. I realize that this isnt a question for everyone, just curious if anyone else enjoys music during these activities.
Me? I cant listen to anything too "hard", i prefer a softer less voiced song, preferably j-pop

I can listen to music while reading- normally I have so much reading for school that I don't get to enjoy manga while listening to music. I usually enjoy classical or rock music- broadway shows, just any kind of music save for heavy metal or rap. ^^

I usually don't listen to music while reading manga, but usually, I can.

To be honest, I can't. If I really want to focus on reading the manga and enjoying it, I must keep the room quiet. It's not like the most insignificant noise will annoy me but I still prefer to read in silence. I tried to read it while listening music, but I ended up not knowing what I'm reading =/ Meh, no problems. It just takes 5 minutes to read a manga chapter.

I do every thing while listening to music. Especially while reading manga. Usually j-pop or anything nice that's on the radio. Sometimes I choose the music based on the 'mood' of the manga. Weird, huh?|(C_C)|

i actually find it easier to read when im listening to music. I feel as if i need some sort of background music playing and when there isnt any it just doesnt feel the same as when there is. maybe its because theres music its as if im watching an anime type thing since theres always music accompanying the anime.

I just can't do that. I have to be in complete silence before reading something, because if the environment isn't quiet, I can't read. Even if it's manga, I just can't focus o_o

It's simple, I just can't read, manga or book, in silence. I even can't sleep without my Ipod. I'm so used to have music or noise around me all the time, silence disturbs me. Even when I study I need TV, or music, or I study in a coffee shop. I hate libraries. However, I can't listen to japanese music while reading a manga in japanese. Same language, confusing. Same thing for english or french. Otherwise, it can be loud music, calm music, whatever, as long as I like it.

I can do work or reading manga while im listening to music but im not truly concentrate on the work or manga. I can do it while music is playing but it much better for me to be silence. =)

I am reading to give it a good effect, and a feel for what is going on. For example, I like to listen to "Romantic Summer" by Halko Momoi and Sakura Nogawa while reading the first volume of Seto no Hanayome. Or if I want to dive into the world of Galaxy Angel, I like to play Ryoko Shintani's "YOU GET A CHANCE!" as I read a chapter focusing on Milfeulle.
When the right music goes with the right manga, you feel like you're in the story, and it makes you want to go deeper into the plotlines. Sometimes, you don't have it, and you have to mix and match. Utena's OP "Rinbu Revolution" by Masami Okui is an example of a versatile music to listen while reading, because it has that energy and audial aesthetics that go beyond the manga by Chiho Saito.
Otherwise, JPop, JRock, and mainstream tunes from my iPod keep me in the mood while reading a volume that I just purchased fresh from Kinokuniya or Borders. The right songs, I think, are the most versatile. It's true.

I usually find that if there's any background noise while I'm reading, I'll continue reading just fine, but suddenly I realize that I'm like...auto reading, and it's not really sinking in. This makes me have to go back and reread what I just finished.
Even if it's very soft music in the background, still messes me up. :S

If I read a manga, there must be very quiet. I don't mind music by other things, but when reading, somehow I cannot concentrate.

I definitely listen to music when reading manga. My favourite music to listen to is JPOP, but less fast paced songs (Utada Hikaru, Monkey Majik, and melody. are all good!) ^_^

I can listen to any music and read mangas. I love rock music with mangas and when i read, my mind kind of blocks out the music...

I can't listen to music and read manga at the same time. I need total concentration or else I'd get distracted very easily. I'll start singing along with the song and won't pay any attention to the text in the manga at all. o_o

No, I don't listen to music while I read manga. It's because I want to concentrate on reading and understanding the storyline rather than multitasking. I can't appreciate the music I am listening to if I am doing something else and I can't follow the story that good if I listen to some music at the same time. So I just do it one at a time. :-D

The answer really depends on the amount of focus required in that particular series or part of manga I'm reading. For example, there are some parts in Ouran High School Host Club that are really easy to get & usually I can read them with music, but there are parts where I have to read over a few times to understand & that's when the music can be a nuisance so I turn it off.

I can't listen to anything while reading manga. Esp if I'm playing songs I like eg Hyde's. I tend to hum to the song and this breaks my concentration on the manga.. Then I will hv to read again and this slows my pace down.. I like to finish 1 volume in less than 30 mins...
