Hello everyone.

I feel that there are certain times in one's life when he or she needs to gain some perspective, re-examine things. And so I ask, what is it that you are living for? Why do you get up out of bed everyday?

I emphasize "you" because I don't want some tired, redundant philosophical conjecture... Instead, I want to hear what truly keeps you going in life.

Is it your job? A hobby? Someone special? Perhaps the idea of someone special?

Whatever your reasons, I want to hear them. And just maybe, your comments will help me - as well as others, better grasp some perspective in our own lives.

I live for my dreams, I enjoy those which I have already achieved and live up to those which I haven't. I basically have a really big and complicated "To-Do" list in my head and I work my way up. I find it best to know what you want, not just blindly follow the path of life as it goes, even though that's what I've been doing for the first 17 years of my life, later realizing that I've been doing it wrong all along, so now I'm trying to make up for lost time. So far I'm pleased :) Sorry if this sounds wrong, but don't be a turd in the river of life, make your time worth it, or at least enjoy it.

Thanks for the input and kicking the topic off right. I can definitely relate to the wasting of life. Personally, I wasted away the better part of my younger years living by the principle of "living just because I'm alive", the naive philosophy of person without direction. Now, I wake up finding my life to be a bit wanting - a direct result of my previous lack of focus.

Anyway, I like the idea... Living for dreams and what you want to accomplish.

And remember kids, "Don't be a turd in the river of life." -- ridiculous in the best possible way.

i live for those few people that i love. they are usualy the first thoughts i have after i wake up. wanting talking with them to be the first thing i do or simply i'll even wait all day to talk with them. they are what keeps me going through life, and i'd gladly do anything for those few.

i think we've all wasted a lot of time in our lifes though, i know i have. and there will always be more that we will waste, even after we tell our selves that we wont.

That's quite the pleasant sentiment, living for those few individuals whom you love...

Unfortunately, not everyone has such people in their lives. Still, I'd agree that having such people around is an essential part of creating a positive existence. Personally, I find more reason in the search for people to surround myself with than with the people themselves.

And back to the time wasting, I completely agree that we're bound to waste time no matter how many times we say otherwise. After all, if we never take the wrong road, how will we know when we walk the right one? It's a relatively necessary part of life - unless you're perfect.

Hmm...good question. I guess...i wake up every morning knowing i have loads to do. And that if i don't keep on living, I'd miss out on LOADz of things. And missing out is something i can't stand. As well as being behind schedule =c= my watch is set 5 minutes ahead of the other clocks in the house. But LOL! I'm starting to make myself seem like a very serious person!xD I'm actually pretty lazy >w>

Also, it helps that i go through my "to do" list in my head before I sleep. Like: Tomorrow, I will watch episode 7 of Gokusen 3!!*A* Then later...tuition homework...etc..

Oh, and another motivation is all the wonderful things in life~ Like, a new laptop? or maybe I'll get a chance to get my dad to get me a graphics tablet!!>*3 If you never try, how do you know it won't happen?=) something like that ^^

to be there for your friends,to aid you family when they need you,to help people,to make friends,to be thankful of what the great blessings god has given you,if you ask me "what's the purpose of being alive?",I'll say a lot,but what i don't understand is why do people end up being sad to the point of suicide, despite the fact that the world is a cruel place, but in it,there are minority of people who are kind enough to give you a ride or to ask you "excuse me,are you alright?",not to bore anyone but people's reason for living is to help others succeed.

Well, you can stay in bed every day all the time, but you will realize that there will be nothing interesting with life anymore, not to mention the fact that you will get hungry. Since we live we might as well do something with our lives, like, experience a lot of staff, and I think that it's the fact that I haven't experienced everything that keeps me alive, that I want to fullfil my dreams someday, the fact that my future has a way of arriving slowly by slowly unannounced and that so many events take place, might be tragic or fantastic. I see life as a big adventure and I want to find out the ending. I don't think it would be so fun to live if we knew everything that would happen to us, so one big part of life, especially when you are young, are the dreams you make and that you wish will come true.

So many things. My work, (because I enjoy it, and I can't just leave it all sitting there, someone has to do it), my lover, my "adopted family", to learn everything I possibly can, to write literature, to draw whatever strikes me...

They might all sound somewhat plain and unconnected, but they're what I live for. I don't think I have wasted that much time of my life since I'm a work-o-holic, though I still think that there is so much more that I need to accomplish and work for, I can't just stop now.

living for helping others or want to help others when i get the chance...living to become someone great.thats why i want to become a doctor because ill get enough chance to help someone.making my family proud after all they are the ones who protect us when we were weak and cant protect ourselves and i want to see the world because world is darn big and its not free and i have to try hard without wasting my time or my life to see it.and i want to be a self-made man without any help because when u become someone great all by urself without anyones help may be little help that feeling of satisfying would be awesome.just like when u guys make a wall and people give good comments on that.that feeling i want for the rest of my life and i have to earn it to have that feeling.so thats why i have to move forward to pursue my dreams and keep on moving because there is no end till the death ofcourse and life is a journey not a destination.so stop counting days and start working hard for a big huge massive place of ur own in this world....

I live because I still have a lot of things I want, need and must do. lol XD I'm still young, I haven't even entered college yet so I really have lots of plans, aspirations, fantasies or whatever about my life in the future. I'm not yet satisfied with what I've experienced. There are still A LOT of things left to discover in the world and I don't want to miss out on that. :D And like most people, I want to leave a legacy lol XD and I'm going to do that by starting a family and raising my children to become good people and of course making them have lots of grandchildren. lol jk. I also live because I feel fortunate that I'm able to experience a better life than most people, I'm able to receive proper education, eat three meals a day and buy the stuff I need and I don't want to waste that or take it for granted. So I guess that's why I continue living.. :] haha

I live to accomplish something extraordinary something that takes a long duration to accomplish. whether it takes years or the entire duration of my life I do not know all I know is I want to make it a reality. In this accomplishment I hope it can better the quality of life for many by helping to bring forth collective thoughts of creativity and unity to all involved. I know not what the future holds but I do know that their is something I could do to improve the quality of life for many by simply believing in the human capacity for creativity and sharing experiences. In the end whether it should succeed or fail I can be reassured knowing I gave my 110% to a intent encompassing more then satisfying my own wants and desires.

I live for myself, that's the basic principle. In addition, keeping myself alive is the only thing I need to start helping others, from my family and beloved ones to everyone else, in order to make this world a better place. That's my dream.

I live for my goals. If i reach it, then i step higher to my next goal. Some are probably hard to attain, but its there, its something to work towards... otherwise life would probably be too boring for me.

I live to achieve my dream and make it a reality, that includes me not dying. One of my dreams is to become immortal and watch the world and humans change over time. Although that is very very hard to accomplish i still wish for it, who knows i might be able to become immortal. It sounds fictional, like it was in a story or something but nothing is impossible. Other dreams include to get married and watch my son/daughter become successful, basically pass on my genes. I also want my name to be remembered, thing of the movie Troy (2004 movie) with Brad Pitt in it. traveling the world and learning new things. That is a lot to accomplish but i know that i will at least accomplish 2 or more of them.

I don't really have something or someone that keeps me going... I just enjoy life. I like being alive and doing fun stuff and hanging with my friends and family. I like living for myself and my happiness. Sounds a bit corny but that's really all there is to it XD and maybe someday I'll have someone else to live for too. (be it a lover, or children)

Well, ... my reason for living? ... It is a very good question, at least in my case, the anime is fascinating, and since I met him thanks to Sailor Moon, I wanted to learn to draw, either manga or anime, at least before I die is that I want to know anime draw perfectly, I think that's my reason for living.

Everyone has their own reasons why they continue to live on. People were born for reasons even they couldn't understand well enough. They just chose without any hesitation. But, they can decide the worth of this place, with their own opinions and standards.

In my perspective, I continue to live on, and I want to because, there are certain people in this world who know my existence . Those "certain people" , are the ones who care about me and love me.

Friends, family, enemies, allies, acquaintances, foes, and etc, know my existence. Thus, I am able to go on in life for my own reasons . Because of them, everything I try to do or about to do to, are not (necessarily) in vain. Without those "certain people" , I may never be able to feel what it's like to live on for a purpose . But, there is always a person out there who cares deeply or lovingly for you.

If, at first, you think that there's vanity in living, you might have not been woken up to realize. If you've awoken to realize now , it makes you feel happy, but at the same time, sad.

In other words, all I'm saying is, is that I live on because of people who are very dear to me.
