a bit of a rant, so if you want to skip a bit, go down to "READ THIS" and start reading.
i've been on a positive roll with walling lately and saying such has made me sarcastic. no it has gone the other way because apparently i'm norm's opposite o__O starting great to fall down to being the poor/fair average/below average waller. check out my walls and you'll see what i mean. >< well ranting won't make it better and i actually liked the lacus wall that i made that made me go on a ranking-dropping rool...so from now on, i'm making walls for the sake of my desktop. xD
READ THIS:
well all my works up to now have been appreciation of nature's beauty (1st wall), stuff that makes you smile/have an ordinary mood (2nd, 4th, and 6th walls), or just "kawaii" stuff (3rd wall)...the only peek into what i REALLY wanted to set out making is in my 5th, one that wasn't all happy happy cute and fuzzy. Now this new one, is truer to that "darker" nature.
first that is unrelated to gundam at all (i know soukyuu no fafner isn't gundam but it shares with gs/gsd the same artist: hisashi hirai). blood plus! yay. well, i started out vectoring a screenshot of saya on saturday in order to procrastinate my workload. and i wanted to post it yesterday for some feedback on how my vectoring went...then an idea popped into my head for a wall and i just wanted to fiddle around to see roughly if it was a good idea. then somehow, i ended up slapping it algother for a wall that doesn't look TOO slapped together.
my own comments: 1. some way to fix the "+" anyone? ^^; 2. if you hate the glowy outline in the "colored" portions of saya, i did so because i was in a huge hurry. as i said, it was "slapped together" and it took like ten minutes or so. forgive me. sincerely sorry for such low effort. 3. the textures probably are hiding all the work i did in the background O.O but oh well 4. the splatter is the ONLY brush i used. and don't tell me to get rid of the motion blur on "blood" =( i've loved that effect ever since watching witch hunter robin. xP

I think it would look better grayscaled with the blood accented in colour rather than the missing gray portion. It looks a little odd. The vector is good, but it seems just a bit too slick for the textures and blood. Beyond that, it's quite nice.

lol if you could vector her face, you can most definitely just erase that +, and vector it yourself....XD It's wierd how the texture ends where the color begins...have it continue upwards. I'm looking at the left side right now, btw....also, the vertical yellowish lines over her face aren't such a good idea...it breaks it into alot more pieces than there should be. How does the colored part look if it were lower, so her eyes were in the middle, and skinnier?

Heck, you could get rid of the Blood+ text altogether. That aside, this looks absolutely great. I don't see any problems.

@nanuk: i'll try that, accenting the blood...and maybe her eyes too. i love how they are blood red. xD and yeah, i plan on putting a texture over the whole thing because I can't exactly vector texture into the image ^^; but i'm glad you don't have problems with the vector
@aznxenocide: =O it's you! haha...xP i'm weird yes. ^^; yeah, as i said above i'll texturize the whole thing later. and if you read whatever i blabbed up there ^ you'll see that i created this wall in like 10 minutes...but i'm surprised at the product though. no yellow line? i'll try that. and as to lowering the "colored part", well, i had it high in the first place because her eyes are so close to the middle of the wall and I thought it weird to have it there...no matter, I'll try that too, though I had that idea already. vectoring my cross? it's text, darn it. =_= i'll see i'll see.
@CCSchlueter: that wasn't so easy to spell, your username, that is. anyway: i'll have a textless version...if i ever submit. and thanks for liking my wall. =D

If you rasterize the "+" vector and apply whatever effect you did to "Blood", no one will be able to tell....^.~
and lol, interestingly enough, I read the first part, but I skipped the "Read This."
XD haha sorry. =P
oh and the thing about lowering the colored part...well I mean, the red from her eyes right now are so striking, compared to the rest of the wall...I mean, you almost get lost in the utter creepiness of her blood stained eyes. XD

i dont really like how the lines are simply up down left right..seems too normal,..if they were tilted some it would be more uhh "extreme" glare

yep you sure did rush this one asa ^^ The lines really distract me from seeing saya, while the background looks rather good it is kind of hidden by the texture you put on top of it. (sorry if I repeated what people said I didnt feel like reading it all) btw I am totally addicted to blood+ right now also

I like this wall! It doesn't let you look in one place for too long... I do think you could maybe tone down the contrast a little though, and maybe change the colors of the peach lines going everywhere, other than that, it's very interesting!

okay, got tied up for a bit so i couldn't get back to you guys. but it's wonderful to see that so many people have paid attention to this thread and posted their thoughts ^^ well, so i procrastinated again in order to get this all done. a tone of versions so, yeah, enjoy yourselves and give me some more comments.
MTL wanted it slanted...is this want you meant?
nanuk wanted it red highlight only. is it boring-er than before or what?
i took off the outline thingies so this is the one completely without outlines...and i moved the color part down, like you wanted it, aznxenocide. *i need to fix this link. be right back with it!
and the final version, with the changed outline color--something mellykill mentioned. and i added a texture for it. it might be strong, but whatever, i'm just experimenting with overlaying the entire thing with a texture.
so that's about it. lots of versions, i know. i have a feeling i'll end up with plenty more to take up my memory space. and my computer is an old one. so c&c from you guys are appreciated. =D hope i'm doing okay.
edit: here is the link that i said i'd fix.

Hey! The texture looks nice on it. The only thing I'd change would be the + sign. It looks more like a cross or something. Good job, good luck!

@ deku-fairy: actually, this is my second non-gs wall. check out my fourth wall under "soukyuu no fafner" it's one of my walls that you missed. ;P and by cross and plus sign, you mean to have it look more like a plus sign with equal-length arms?
anyway, nobody else is checking back? ;_; i need some opinions because I don't want to rush head long into submission. and i need some opinions on which version to submit. i'm thinking no outlines, texture, but i want to hear what you guys think. xD

I would do a combination of the first and third. leave the colored parts in, but non-textured. (when you did the texture in the 3rd one, it made the scan seem dirty) but I like the lines.

Yeah I meant to shorten the arms to make it look more like a "+" sign with equal lengths. Lol and I do remember that other non-gundam seed wall but I guess I just didn't remember at that piont......

@ mellykill: first and third? you mean the first one as in the one where I mentioned MTL--where the "colored parts" are slanted? and the third one as in the one where i mentioned you--where there are outlines but in a different color than before? just to clarify.
anyway, i need more people's comments...T_T

sorry asa, I should have clarified more (did this comment after doing ummm "research" for my club wall, not in exactly a clear-headed state of mind. sorry) I like the lines on the first one, and how they are clear. I like the texture on the third one, but doing the texture over the whole face makes the clear part seem like the scan is dirty. if you could do the texture over just the black&white parts, I think it would add more dimension to the wall, like you were looking through something. hope that made more sense

I prefer the desaturated one (black & white w/ red blood and eyes). The only I would fix is the rough spots on her nose shadow, neck shadow, ears, and her chin. I also agree that the "+" should be changed, b/c it looks like too much of a cross that a plus. Good luck!
