So, well, this is pretty much my first serious wallpaper. I've done others, but they usually ended up... like crap. >_> So I kinda stopped, and started with walls about a year later; today. I think it ended up kinda good... not as I wanted it to, but meh, whatever. xD I'm TIRED! Yup, even Swedes need sleep. '='_'=' Anyways, I'm totally not new to Photoshop; I've worked with it a lot, and is probably above average in skill level. But I usually work with 500x125, and this is my first 2560x2048... xD I'd say it's easier with forum signatures... >_> Okay, I shall get back on topic.
So, as most of you probably already know, the character is Rena Kunisaki from .hack//DUSK, in her online avatar, which name is ALSO Rena... xD She's a 'Heavy Blade', and, well, what else to say? I just love her as a character; not only her looks (>_>) but personality, too.
The original scan is from the second volume, and I've fixed it a little in Photoshop, I suppose. >_> The colours were kinda dull, and I wanted to create a contrast between her and the background. So I raised the Saturation a bit on her skin, and lowered the overall Light. It ended up kinda good.
The background is a reference to the character which she won in a contest; it's the legendary Heavy Blade character Black Rose. Well, it's black... and there are flowers... >_>
So, whaddaya think? Good enough to be uploaded to the Wallpaper section? >_> I got this creeping feeling that it isn't... oh, and please, don't just say 'yeah its g00d lol keep up da gud wurk!!!1 1!!1!11!'. I'd like some constructive criticism instead; I'm trying to get better, not make my ego grow even more. xD

The preview that I am seeing is only 800x640. Photobucket probably resized it automatically, as it usually does... Try Imageshack, as they don't do that. I'll comment when I see the full version! Good luck to you!

hmm I think 2560x2048 will be too big... try 1600x1200 at first.... Read the faq for more accepted resolutions.
The bg looks pretty nice, but the scan of Rena... it's just looking to bright. Did you overlay it with a white layer, because it looks like this. And also the black outline is not neccessary it only make the scan look weird, because then she has a thicker outline at some parts but not as a whole, you know? You also forgot to extract something. At her legs there's a parts that is not extracted, it's kinda disturbing, because everywhere around her is this black outline only there it's missing. But just delete the black outline, extract the missing part and change her color back to normal. The color needs to be stronger... or make a grey-color wall.... but I think it would look better with a colorful Rena.
Back to the bg. The bigger the flowers get the more blurry they become. I would say vector them or use brushes with a higher resolution, because there is this strong contrast between the blurry flowers and the sharp dots.
So, I would recommend to use another font, because those "standart" windows fonts doesn'T look that good and I think the one you used here doas't fit the wall theme. You can find some good fonts at www.dafont.com I bet you'll find a fitting one. And don't forget to add your signature, this is pretty important, your wall can look that good as a SS-rating, but it will get rejected if the sig is missing.
Although the wall theme looks great, I think there's something missing. I can't see any connection between the char and the bg. It is as if you would take a nice stock photo and then put a scan on it. At least in my eyes. What about making Rena bigger and add the .hack/dusk-logo maybe this would make it better.

Humm... I'll totally fix those things... err... Just a few 'comments' on your comments. Or mayeb questions... bah, call them whatever you want. >_>
First off, since 2560x2048 is proportional to 1024x768, all I have to do is re-size it. -.-' I set it to that size so that everyone should be able to use it. Unless they got a bigger screen than 2560x2048, which I doubt. >_>
I'm afraid... I've no idea hwy that's lighter. >_> I haven't added any layer or anything on it... I'll check that up. Perhaps also re-extract her and stuff.

Well, err, I'd say it's not a good choice to use the normal colour; the scan is from the cover of the second book, and wasn't prfect quality... besides, I'd say I rather prefer the original Black Rose from //SIGN's darker tan; it makes her look a lot more... well... alive, if you get my point. >_>
Humm, vector... I've never done that before. >_> Only problem... Err... And I still have to get used to my drawing tablet, which I suppose is pretty useful in vectoring... and... whaddaya mean, can I somehow get better resolution on the brushes by, well, downloading them in some other format/size? Because I'm pretty sure there wasn't such an option on the site.
