Ancient news: the rumours about PS3 have been around for months now. Personally, I will quite likely buy it if it supports PS2 and PS1 games. The other consoles, N's new toybox and M$'s Crash-in-a-Box, aren't that good options IMO. But I'm sure everyone has said their piece about this already. ;)

yes. the PS3 is coming and i want it so bad! Then i look at the XBox 360 graphics and i'm totally blown away. So i'm on the fence about which one i'll get...not planning on getting a new system until next year anyway...

I REALLY like the PS and want to pick up the PS3. The games and quality of gaming have always been up to what I expect and look for. The only thing that keeps ringing ominously in my mind is comments from Sony that the PS3 will be pricy. I'd discount that except for the fact that I've read numerous interviews in which this is pointed out. I'll get it, there's no doubt about it, but WHEN I get it will be largely determined not by how good it is, but how expensive it is. No money = no PS3 right away = me crying. :-)

Just to give perspective, though, I've got the x360 preordered along with a few games and accessories. I'm afraid that I'm seriously addicted to console gaming. :-)

Posted this just for laughs. I Don't know if you guys have seen this before. Almost got me fooled back then but after the PS3 was unveiled, I just look at it and laugh :)

I'll probably get one. It looks excellent, but I need to see a few more games first. Though MGS4 looks incredible, albeit a little odd. But it's Hideo, so...Yeah.

I'll get it; after its been out for two years, has dropped in price, and the developers are finally figuring out how to fully utilize the hardware. I never buy a system when it's new, as antz said...it's all about the gaming, not the graphics. And thats the only thing that the ps3 (or any next-gen system, excluding the Revolution) will have in the beginning is better graphics.

I'll be getting a Revolution first for three reasons: it's price point will undercut both Microsoft and Sony, it's backwards compatible (so to speak) all the way to the NES, and have you seen the controller?? Holy Shmoly. :)

Agreed! And seeing I play mostly RPGs, I'll be going after PS3. Not to mention the PS3 looks the best imo, well revolution isn't bad but the controller is still a mystery.

Still I wouldn't buy it until the game I wanted came out... I waited for ff10 to buy PS2.

PS3 XBOX 360 both of them are very powerful consoles im getting them both c-ing that the ps3 is only being released here in SA in 2007... long way to go the Xbox 360 is coming out this December here in SA so im getting that first.. Cant wait for Dead or Alive 4

i wonder if PS3 will come out with a compact version like PS1 and PS2. When i first bought my PS2 i was soo happy XD but then the compact version came out and its like. ... 10x cooler. T_T think i'll wait for PS3 to be compact before i buy it. >_> in the mean time i'll borrow ppl's i guess. XD it looks awesome. FF12 is gonna be AWESOME on it.

Without a huge backing in Blue-Ray technology by a lot of companies, I think the PS3 might be in trouble. I hope that soon, a lot more companies and technology related industries realize the merits of Blue-ray over HD-DVD. The numbers on the cell processor and what PS3 is capable seems very impressive. However, its all about the gaming companies and platform are they willing to base their games on. As an RPG enthusiasts, I hope companies like Square-Enix, Nippon Ichi, and several others will continue to release their games on the PS3. It's not about what the system can do but what the games can do for the individual gamer. All this nonsense of what system is better is nothing more than what ignorant people think. It's games that determine the value of the system.

I was rather worried about the Blu-ray problem earlier on, but it seems okay now. I've looked up on the net and there are quite a few companies that have signed on with Blu-ray as opposed to HD-dvds by toshiba. It's sad they could not come to a conclusion... they're both pretty equal right now I think... but blu-ray seems to have more bigger companies i recognize... samsung, sharp, apple, panasonic... it's been awhile now so I don't know the current situation anymore =/

News that PS3 may not be compatible with some PS1 and PS2 games, I definately want to get PS3, but it seems all the next gen systems may have problems with backward compatibility.

I'll go for PS3 since I'm a Play Station fans since the 1st installlment.

not sure which i'm going to get first, but for sure i'm going to cop whatever system the next SHENMUE will be on haha.

I'll buy Ps3 once the price is afforadable. I'll go with Revolution first ^-^ and my dad is going to get XboX360 around Xmas I'd guess.

Actually, Sony already announced that the PS3 would be backwards compatible with ALL PS2 games. They are still deciding on whether they want to drop the PS1 compatibility to save costs. As it stands at the moment, the PS3 is too expensive to produce, therefore most people think they are going to drop the second HDTV (Who the HECK has two(!) HDTVs anyway??) port first. Then, they reasoned that PS1 games are too far gone, so, they might be dropping that next.

The whole irony of the format thing is that Sony is Toshiba's largest customer in the Semiconductors department. One would think that they would work it out.

After hearing all the rumors about the PS3, I'm not sure if I can even get it... >.>; But if I could, I would probably get that instead of an Xbox360...
