The trailer's been out for like...... 5 months.

It is not always the amount of details that makes a good wallpaper. Sometimes, a simple yet unique idea (in this case to find a certain screenshot from an anime) can create a lovely wallpaper for Valentine's day. popiahime's "Pikachu's Valentine" is funny to look at (I totally love the bottle's design!), and it composes a sweet design for people's desktops. Even though I'm not a big fan of white backgrounds, this one fits really well to the composition and the rest of the colours.

I'm looking forward to it totally! I loved the .hack series, but I haven't quite finished the last games *heh* something to do over the summer...The screens and videos are looking amazing though. And the story? Pking? Definite possibility :-) I love the idea that The World has gone beyond the control of the admins for the most part...ahhh...I hope it comes out well, but I think it will be a good game at very least. I hope they add a little more dynamic to the battle system...It's good, but wasn't that amazing in the old games.

i saw the trailer a while ago, and i have to say that this is a must buy (to me, at least). i have all the old ps2 .hack games, but GU looks like it has MUCH better graphics with a better fighting system. plus, i heard that the first installment of GU will be longer than the previous four .hack games combined. sweeet.

this is actually the first time im hearing about this O_o i love .hack, does anyone have a link to the trailer? (and what does the "GU" stand for?)

The trailer can be found here.
Most speculation points to the G.U. standing for "Grow Up"... a theme central to the new games.

i bought all 4 current .hack ps2 games and then ended up giving them to a friend :p I liked the long story and character involvement, but the dungeon crawling got to me after playing Outbreak. I got my hopes up for this one.

For all my dothack needs... I go to www.dothackers.net
GU is really awesome compared to it's first attempt - I loved .hack//game despite it's repetitiveness but when I first saw GU's teaser site back when it wasn't even known that it was dothack related... I was like... whoa... then at E3 2005 - I was completely overwelhmed that .hack was gonna continue!!! O_O
GU is certainly something to look forward to ... after being semi-disappointed with .hack//fragment knowing that they weren't really gonna do anything new or spectacular with it compared to GU...
I really love what they have planned and lined up! The fact that they aren't taking another like 10 years to make each game makes me very happy... especially knowing that each of the 3 discs is a different story based in the same place... the minds behind the .hack series... is just something I can't describe through words~ ;p
really... when it first started with .hack//sign it was like... aww that's so cool... i wanna play that game for real damnit!... and when .hack//game came out we were barely able to feel the pleasures of The World simulated... despite us not being able to truely experience it as an MMORPG... GU brings us to it much closer... even though i know they aren't gonna put enough work to it.. to the point where we really feel it's an mmorpg... for example... i really want to be able to use a keyboard and macros to play GU... i really want that MMORPG experience by being able to use the keyboard but i know its not gonna happen... but still what GU is coming to is really what all MMORPGs are trying to be today~~~ ;p

Wasn't it there another topic something similar to this? But oh well, yes .hack//G.U has potential! The Semi or full Cell-shaded graphics is going to rock. Not to mention the new gameplay.

i saw the first two chapters of the manga and the story seems a little interesting so far im just disappointed even though he is a A.I.D.A, Tri-Egde who was also called... Kite of the Azure Flame
is the enemy in the game but saying that is a little pre-mature. that's y i can't wait for the game to be released but there are more then 1 so it will take time 2 complete the story like in the first games infection, outbreak, quarintine and vaccine.

It definately looks cool, and I love the original four games though I never beat them all.
On another note, what happened to .hack//fragment, the online game? Its out in Japan, but I never saw a Famitsu review or score or anything. I guess this means we won't see it here, I was hoping for it too. ;_;

Play magazine recently had a chance to sit down and play .hack//G.U. Vol. 1: Resurrection. Some of their extremely positive reactions on //G.U. are quoted below. Be sure to head out to your local bookstore and pick up the May issue of Play magazine to read more. A big thanks to Chris for sending us the information.
"This time out they've packed more events into the first hour than half of that [.hack//infection] entire game. "
"...it will take all of a few seconds to fall deeply and madly in love with .hack//G.U. "
"Logging in to the actual gameplay, pretty much every aspect of the .hack universe has been deftly overhauled, though none so much as the battles which rank among the best real-time RPG skirmishes ever. "
The new .hack//G.U. promotional video that was showcased at the Tokyo International Anime Fair 2006 (in mid March) has made its way onto CC2's website. Head on over to the .hack media portal site or download it below. Some new information on the U.S. adaptation of //G.U. should hopefully sprout up during E3, which is about two weeks away. Enjoy the video!

I've never liked the .hack games a lot. The idea was original (lol offline online gaming simulation), but it was poorly executed.
If those games had much better graphics, a WAY better camera and overall better gameplay, my opinion would be very different.
I'll have to see that GU thingy when it's released (if it'll be released, of course).

i can't support the game play, i would have to agree with Kyosuke but i am more of a player who would rather have a good story then game play. that is what makes me want to go on like with some games with so called "excellent game play" the only thing you look forward to is new weapons and new moves. when i look at the story i keep on thinking "what happens next"? well anyway this is all a matter of opinion but here is another trailer(click here to download different trailer) and people looking for the American release it will be out in September and in Japan May.
