I loooove Disgaea!!!! I think its the second best strategy RPG ever!! Right after FF Tactics for ps1. Just wanted to say that first, lol. Now that thats over, ummmmm, which part of the game are you at?? By stronger characters do you mean the hidden characters or just the upgraded classes like the ninja and samurai?? Well, first thing's first, you should go to gameFAQs.com if you want a guide on how to get those classes. Trust me they are really awesome, I gave my ninja fist weapons cuz the moves for them are really dragonball Z like, lol. Just wanted to say that also, lol. If you wanna get stronger you should definitely unlock the hidden dungeons, trust me it'll help. Also, if you ever wanna get the hidden characters you should unlock the majin and the angel classes. It's a pain in the arse, but I suggest you train in the heaven episode, go to the stage with the four vampires in each corners, thats where I did my training. Once they start to get too weak, just go to the dark assembly and request to make the enemies stronger.

The trick to making great, VERSATILE, characters is the mentor-pupil technique. It's backwards, as the Mentor benefits and the pupil gets nothing.

I forgot the exact formula, but, with the exception of HP, every stat gets something around 10% of the pupil's stats added to the mentor's stats when the mentor levels up. I might be a bit wrong, but there is a definite stat bonus for the mentor. I am sure, though, that it's not cumulative with every pupil. The highest gain from a pupil is the one that's used. Let's say Laharl has two pupils, one with 200 attack and one with 250 attack. If I am correct with the 10%, Laharl will have an extra 25 ATK, not 45, and I hope you can see why.

More than that, however, is that mentors LEARN SPELLS from pupils.

On my file, my Red Skull, X (brilliant name, I think) knows Fire, Mega Fire, Giga Fire, Omega Fire, Ice, Mega Ice, Giga Ice, Wind, Mega Wind, Star, Mega Star, Heal, Mega Heal, Giga Heal, and Espoir.

Of those, he would only know Fire through Omega Fire without his pupils' spells.

You only need to know one thing regarding power levelling in this game. Cave of Ordeals 3. Again and again and again. Just level up your characters' sword mastery until they learn that one 3x3 skill, Braveheart 5 times, a take out the 3x3 group of guys in one hit. Don't remember exactly, but it shoots a character from level 1 to around two-hundred-something. You need pretty good equipment to pull this off, so just go through the item world a few times til you find soomething suitable, and level it up.

I pride myself on defense, rather than attack. A level 9999 Prinny Baal does exactly 0 damage to my Laharl.

nice nice but yeah what Kumoitte said is the best way to level up fast and I mean fast. I think that there is also a spot in the the alternate netherworld where you can get some serious leveling up. but i'm not sure where.

Disgaea is much more than just multiple endings. It is the embodiment, the essence, of flatchested greatness(etna and flonne). The running jokes are the most entertainment Ive ever seen in an rpg. No other rpg has such querky characters as these. Aside from that it uses FF Tactics battle system which is much better imo than the norm lets take turns without moving from anywhere but the back row to the front row. Which also adds more strategy to the game. I would say not having an overworld to wander is quite the drawback but it doesnt really need it as the story takes you all over the place anyways. Nippon Ichi makes other games with overworlds anyways.. like La Pucelle(I detest the thing they call the main character though).

For beginner leveling in Disgaea I just sat in the one stage with the one non invincible square and monster stacked. I never played much past first completion due to me getting caught up in Makai Kingdom but it defintiely kept my interest longer than most rpgs.

well there is also another reason why people play this game so much is for the other hidden characters that are in game but they are at level 2500!!!!! so you level up to take them down!!!!

Man, this game is awsome I spend some 90hrs on my first playthorugh, now to spend another 90hrs for the other endings.

NIS is a god at making good rpg's. Disgaea 2 is going to pwn on so many levels. The thing about disgaea is all the unlockable stuff you get in all of their games. Getting the Majin(spelling) class was a happy day :P. And watching your guys do THOUSANDS beyound THOUSANDS of damage is always entaining in my opinion.

Theres only one problem i have found with Disgaea, i never have time to sit and play it. It would be a different story if it eventually came out for the psp, as i would love to play it portably. I cant wait till Disgaea 2.

I need some help, in the game...the blue haired girl u talk to go in the dark assimbly, can u fight with her? if so how do u get her?

Im not sure if you can get any character in the dark assembly... However there might be one way. Sometimes when you go into the dark assembly, you can see the characters that are in your base camp ( healing, saving areas etc. ) Anyways, you can try to throw them onto your base panel, and capture them that way. Like i said im not sure if you can do this, however it is worth a try.

i've finished and played disgaea. it was an awesome game! can't wait to play disgaea 2...don't know where to get it ^^;;

Awww, after reading all this it makes me want to buy it now! I've seen the anime that came out for it and its pretty good, so the game must be even better. I think i might buy one on ebay lol.

First time through Laharl was my best, he saved me in many battles. Second time through though I just leveled up to 3000+ in Cave of Ordeals 3 I think it was? And to that one person, its good if someone can spend days on one game instead of only 15~25 hours on it.

I played it before one of my fav games i also saw the anime its was kool they changed somethings but it was still kool and i hope i can play part 2
