The basic rules of the group... Not that I don't trust the good behavior of people using Inkscape but it's better to be on the safe side ^^

  • The same rules than on AP FAQ apply here (obviously)

  • This group is dedicated to Inkscape. If have a problem with another software, we probably can't do anything for you. However if you want to switch to Inkscape, feel free to cite your old software as reference for help (ie: "In Illustrator, I used alt+scroll wheel to zoom in or out. Is it the same in Inkscape?".)

  • Before starting a new topic and crying for help go through this topic to see if you don't find an answer first. We will regroup all questions and answers into for ease of use and future reference. Kind of a FAQ.

  • If you don't find an answer to your question, feel free to start a new topic.

  • Have fun ^^

No mouton ;), in PS and AI it is Alt+scroll to zoom (standard setup). It is so confusing when you use all these programs xD. I love the middle mouse button though in IS to quickly drag the view. This is something that you don't have in AI/PS.

Oh my bad, I screwed up the example then X) I will change it, thanks. Yeah the middle button is really helpful. Note that since you can move around the workspace using the scroll wheel with or without shift or using the middle button, the scroll bars are useless. You can remove them by pressing ctrl+b ^^

Ok here goes. The first issue I am confronted with.

"Inkscape encountered an internal error and will close now"http://img686.imageshack.us/img686/4420/iserror.jpgThis was the 2nd time it crashed.

I lost a lot of work when this first happened, so I turned on autosave to reduce the risk. But I am wondering if I am causing it somehow (no I didn't use the text-tool or changed preferences except for the autosave after it happened the first time).

Like I said in the introduction topic, Inkscape is more prompt to crash under Windows or Mac because it gets less bugs reports hence less bugs fixes. You can try the previous version which doesn't have the autosave feature but is more mature or try Inkscape under Linux (Ubuntu, Fedora and such.) I know it's not really a good solution for those who know nothing about Linux but I guess it's the only viable solution until more light is cast upon Windows and Mac version of Inkscape ^^

Kunichiwa! ^^

I found this group and after reading moutonzare's introduction I decided to download and try Inkscape. So far I'm greatly impressed, I just want to know is there any way that you can change the control points? (In PS you would hold the Alt button and then click on the control point and then you could change it. I found this useful when the control point's projected curve doesn't correspond with the curve that you want to draw next.)

You can use the node tool to edit already traced curves ^^ For more details on its use, you can read this part of the manual.

Also to make things more clear, please start a new topic when asking for informations or help ^^

Thank you ^^ The creation was kinda rushed so I need a little more time to write tutorials but you are free to ask questions ^^
