Mozilla Firefox is a free and open source web browser descended from the Mozilla Application Suite and managed by Mozilla Corporation. Firefox had 22.47% of the recorded usage share of web browsers as of July 2009[update], making it the second most popular browser in terms of current use worldwide, after Microsoft's Internet Explorer.[4]
To display web pages, Firefox uses the Gecko layout engine, which implements most current web standards in addition to several features which are intended to anticipate likely additions to the standards.[5]
Latest Firefox features[6] include tabbed browsing, spell checking, incremental find, live bookmarking, a download manager, private browsing, location-aware browsing (aka "geolocation") based exclusively on a Google service[7] and an integrated search system that uses Google by default in most localizations. Functions can be added through add-ons, created by third-party developers,[8] of which there is a wide selection, a feature that has attracted many of Firefox's users.
Firefox runs on various versions of Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, Linux, and many other Unix-like operating systems. Its current stable release is version 3.5.2, released on August 3, 2009[update].[9] Firefox's source code is free software, released under a tri-license GNU GPL/GNU LGPL/MPL.[10] Official versions are distributed under the terms of a proprietary EULA.[11][12]

Google Inc. is an American public corporation, earning revenue from advertising related to its Internet search, e-mail, online mapping, office productivity, social networking, and video sharing services as well as selling advertising-free versions of the same technologies. Google has also developed an open source web browser and a mobile operating system. The Google headquarters, the Googleplex, is located in Mountain View, California. As of March 31, 2009 (2009 -03-31)[update], the company has 19,786 full-time employees. The company is running millions of servers worldwide, which process about 1 petabyte of user-generated data every hour. Google conducts hundreds of millions of search requests every day.[4]
Google was founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin while they were students at Stanford University and the company was first incorporated as a privately held company on September 4, 1998. The initial public offering took place on August 19, 2004, raising $1.67 billion, implying a value for the entire corporation of $23 billion. Google has continued its growth through a series of new product developments, acquisitions, and partnerships. Environmentalism, philanthropy and positive employee relations have been important tenets during the growth of Google. The company has been identified multiple times as Fortune Magazine's #1 Best Place to Work,[5] and as the most powerful brand in the world[6] (according to the Millward Brown Group).
Google's mission is "to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful".[7] The unofficial company slogan, coined by former employee and Gmail's first engineer[8] Paul Buchheit, is "Don't be evil".[9][10][11] Criticism of Google includes concerns regarding the privacy of personal information, copyright, and censorship

Hm, am I the only one left with the feeling that something is missing from here? :) I can't really feel anything "versus" between them.

Hmm overall i would go for google chrome as is runs on a different type of system that of firefox if you close one tab in windows task manager it closes one for google chrome but you can't do that for firefox you have to manually close the whole thing to refresh the whole browser instead of taking one tab down that is memory hogging it. The only good ting about firefox is some of the addons they have which are very ncie indeed such as downthemall which is a nice download manager to have and to increase your download speed two times as much as normal.

Hmm... In my opinion, it depends on what and how you use your browser. I love Firefox for it's customization, but with the addition of add-ons, the higher speed, and the amazing minimalist browser layout, Chrome is quickly surpassing Firefox as the best browser out there.
Of course, this is just my humble opinion.

If your talking about internet browser, chrome is still the best when it comes to speed and simplicity. Actually, firefox is noticeably imitating some main features of chrome for there upcoming 4th version.

I switched from Firefox to Chrome when they implanted a proper plugin system. Chrome is faster in pretty much every aspect and now that I can use plugins like adblock in chrome I'm not going back any time soon.
And that I have android phone so my mail is with google as well and with google sync i can save a bookmark on my phone and it will automatically update my bookmarks on my pc.

ahh I love them both! I use them both (and nothing else!). My main points would be to say that Chrome is faster and simple to use. Firefox is very modular and you can get a bunch of nice add-ons for it. Overall, I like FF better but as a company I like Google the best

I have used Google Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Opera, IE8...etc, Chrome is so far the fastest browser I have ever used. I love that the address bar is combined with the search bar, very convenient, I also love having the tabs on the top rather than the bottom like Safari and Firefox, allows me to have more screen space.

i favor firefox for its customizations. i use a lot of the addons.

In terms of browsers I both use them for various different things. I love the layout more on Firefox compared to Chrome.
Firefox is not faster though but it's just as fast and it's really unnoticeable. But If I need to do something fast and quick Chrome is the way to go.
It's just both of them have their good sides and down sides. I'll probably continue using both of them until one of them pulls out with the better browser.

I've never tried Google Chrome... Im very much used to using Firefox at this point though. It has the Persona i like and all of my Add-Ons are where i like em' but i guess i should try it out seems as a few people say its better.

well, chrome currently is the fastest but it's not a noticeable difference against firefox. firefox has pretty decent features that outruns chrome. the critical part is the memory hogging issue between the two. sadly, firefox has an issue with that especially when flash plugin of adobe runs..

Based on my experience, Google Chrome seems to be slightly better and is improving quickly on many of their functions, but I just can't seem to give up Firefox after having used it for so long! >< And I just love their add-ons and personas! I guess I'll wait and see before I think about switching to Chrome.
