There hasn't been a SM thread? That surprised me.
For good or ill, I fall into that group of girls who can't resist a group of heroines beating the bad guys of the universe with the aid of a handsome masked gentleman who throws roses.
It was the first anime I watched that got me hooked on the genre. Yeah, there's campy stuff, but liked it in spite of that & the astrology thingy.
Although there are numerous magical girl animes &/or mangas, SM will hold a special place in my heart.

I actually loved sailor moon too. I have no idea how I even got started watching it, I guess when toonami was just regular old toonami, I was watching dragonball z one day when it went off, and sailor moon came on next. Before I new it, I was introduced to the cool, suave tuxedo mask and her talking cat luna. I couldn't take my eyes off the tv then, I had to find out if the two of them would get married. Eventually because of school, I couldn't keep up with the series, now I'm out of school and hoping I get to watch this again because of this thread.

I used to really love the series Sailor Moon when I was young. The manga of it is great and meaningful and interesting. It tells us a lot about friendship and things like that. It's a wonderful story made of miracles...and so on
However, that is just what I thought when i was a CHILD, now to me as an adult is rather odd and...I don't know...old-fashioned. Furthermore, the drawings and scripts are not good enough compared to all the famous mangas now such as lovely complex or gakuen alice. The content of it is still great, though, but i don't really like the artist's style anymore, that's the point!
The anime I found on the internet was in poor quality so I don't have any idea how great it is. Guess you should try the manga first! Still an amazing magical story!! Worth to watch (If YOU HAVE TIME cuz it is LENGTHY, anw)

I love Sailor Moon and there is a big possibility that I always will. I watched so much of it as a kid. When it came on at 4pm on Toonami, I glued myself to the TV. I actually want to get my hands on the whole series, but it's really expensive. I have all three movies on VHS. I want to get them on DVD soon. Anyway, maybe on my next birthday, I'll ask for that from someone who loves me. A lot. XD

Indeed. That was long time ago ever since I did watched that series since old-school times, but it brings back memories just because I missed that series really much just to mention even I only focus watching that Sailor Moon series than have stress and problems at school for relive myself from stressful days and to be relax. |(n_n)| The story really interesting have mixed with romance, comedy, and action for much based on Super Sentai from Tokusatsu. ( []-[])9 And I still remembered also playing games based from that series in arcade and in computer was cool. |(n_n)|
Back then I was once a kid watching Usagi, Rei, Ami, Makoto, and Minako fighting against the evil forces of darkness; also involved with cool mysterious Tuxedo Mask to the rescue if Sailor Moon is in pinch, most it were several times in episodes that I'd watched so much. (n_n)-b Even I'm a fanboy to the Sailor Mars or simply Hino, Rei-chan but it brings back memories just collecting cards, and posters too. It was fun. (~_~)

Sailor Moon is not a current running show. Moved to Past Anime Series

When the series was first aired here, I was in my second year of junior high. Sailor Moon is definitely not the first anime I ever watch but it always has a special part in my heart. I have to admit that the animation is not too great but who can forget the way Usagi said, "I'll punish you with the moon power"?
I still remember clearly how I always sit in front of my PC before 4.30 PM so I wouldn't miss any scene. The opening and ending songs were dubbed, as well as the episode, but since the dubbers did a great job, I didn't have any complain.
Among other magical girls series, Sailor Moon is my favorite. Its basic concept (girls with planetary addressing) really amused me. And I love how they built their characterization. Of all the characters, Mamoru is my favorite.
If the series if to be rerun here, I'd definitely watch it again. I really miss Tuxedo Kamen's appearance (and the Sailor Girls).

Sailor Moon was my absolute favorite show ever when I was a little girl. Then I grew up a little and it went off the air, but I firmly believe that SM was what sparked my love of anime. I was princess-crazy, but also loved girls who could kick some butt. On top of all of that, I have always loved astrology and symbolism. Tie all of that into a sparkly package and you have one of the most influential things in my entire life.
Then, fifteen years later, a bored and lonely college student was downloading subtitled anime and ran across Sailor Moon again. Only this time, in addition to the things that I loved as a girl, I picked up on/fully understood all the nuances. My love for the series was reborn, and then exploded once I got my hands on the Japanese manga. Everything that the anime does well, the manga does better. It takes something extraordinary to get me to import things from Japan.
I even really enjoy the live-action version and the crazy ridiculous musicals.
Favorite characters are the outer senshi, especially Haruka (who was quite possibly my first love, tied with Aladdin and the Beast).

love sailor moon. the team work, the girls, the powers, & even the villains are all original to this series.
This series was my first girl anime. I would be watching anime with the guyz and I would ask to watch sailor moon everyone would laugh and vote agains it. They were all action anime guyz and couldnt appreciate diffrent genres. So I went thru it by myself. Super deep. From the the beginning to the end.

I think Sailor Moon, in terms of art, is still one of my favorite anime and manga to this day. However, I tried watching part of the English DIC dub the other day, and couldn't finish watching it to the end. But then again, the first season was never one that I liked so maybe I ought to find Sailor Moon S or R to watch instead. The music used in the anime is still some of the best anime music I've ever heard. The instrumental used when Neptune and Uranus transforms and shows up is still awesome after all these years. For when it was made, I think it's held up pretty well.

Sailor Moon was the anime that introduced me to the world of anime. It's unfortunate that they don't make the English-dubbed DVDs for the first two seasons because of some legal issues regarding the license.
I really liked the interactions between the characters. For example, how Sailor Moon and Sailor Mars always fought to see who would be leader.

Sailor Moon wasn't my first touch to anime and manga, as few mangas and children's animes had been relesed in Finland, but it definitely finally sucked me in! I just recently finished the series, and now I'm planning to do a fansub, due to the lack of official release of SM in Finland.
I had few times come across the name, then Googled it, and I had read the Wikipedia article. No big spoilers there. But when dolldivine released the sailor maker(art by drachearannak), I really wanted to find more about the series. Fyi, this happened about a year ago, when I was on 9th grade. So, I made more research and found the manga and anime. And gods, if that WASN'T awesome. I had almost no previous experience with the genre, but I fell in love with Sailor Moon almost instantly. Now I'm again reading through the manga, because it differs so much from the anime. Usagi & Mamoru's relationship is better in manga. And it's just awesome when someone in manga discovers who the senshi are in civilian.
If I had to recommend some animanga to anyone, I'd definitely say Sailor Moon. It might be an old series, but hey, it's a classic! You have to know it!
