what id do is make a cube face first with 3 copies of the checker pattern and merge it then use perspective transform and squeeze it

Good to see a hair tut that will give people an idea.
Saw this a few weeks ago browsing through dA but didn't know you posted it here also :D. There's just so much more to hair that people don't know about. Especially when you're approaching a painted scan, all the colors reflected into the hair build up even if they're slight.
