Here you go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=heIUBbp7gKk

Note: I do not necessarily agree with how it is done in the video to me it seems like it is longer then it should be. Try doing this instead: Use the same vector pen tool as in the video and draw a single vector line over the outline of the image just like in the video, but do not connect it! Instead switch to the 2nd tool from the top and select your vector path, then click on the icon "Convert selected path to object's stroke to paths" on top of the screen in the middle. That will make your original path into a 2 dimensional one, and now all you need to do is delete and move the nodes at the end like he did in the video.

If anyone knows of a better way let me know!!!!

Another note: It is best to vector low quality images that you get from screen shots of anime videos. There is little to no point vectoring scan quality images unless you plan on making something special.

Tip: To move vectors up above or down bellow other vectors/objects select the vector and press Shift+Pg Dn or Shift+Pg Up. This is also in the object select mode on top task bar.

Hot keys, you need to know:

  • b: bezel curve tool, used to draw paths
  • n: node tool, main manipulation tool, double click a path to add a node, click on a path to drag it out, click on a node to move it
  • shift+s: changes node to a curve node, dragging a handle influences the curve of the other side of the node
  • shift+c: changes node to a corner node, dragging a handle influences only one side
  • shift+ctrl+s: fill/stroke options
  • shift+ctrl+l: layers, to create a "folder" like in PS you need to create sub-layers by right clicking on it then "add layer>as a sub-layer of current"
  • shift+k: combine, going to need to use this to mainly punch holes in shapes
  • shift+ctrl+k: uncombine
  • space: hold down to pan the canvas

Once I knew all these hot keys, vectoring in IS became pretty easy coming from PS. There are probably more useful ones but these are enough for basic needs.
