First on the thumbnail I was almost surprised that Mouton came out with something simpler - but then I zoomed on - oh, man that tiny vectoring of the pattern would probably kill my brain. Clothing style and the girl is my liking as to well, se 1st for me is Moutonzare! The work of CloudGer is also amazing, just that a few parts look a bit blurred to me, and oh it's a man? :P Same ranked would be Deto15, nothing less expected of a artist of this level, that BRS vector is very pretty and complex. Akihiko and Yago for the next ladder level. Both works are very pretty and with pretty girls, mecha girls and glassed oneswith swords FTW. Shimazaki, Tens and GA practically on the same level as them, but just with girls what are not my types. Don't take it personally, the quality is great by all three. SamB and Vamp would ne next. Good as well, but there are certain parts which could be better. Im certain their future works will makes out sweat more with every time. Fiifo would I place as last, sharp but a way too simple for my taste, also mainly the warm/high contrast color composition which doesn't suits such a horror based series in my opinion. But in overally every work was nice or unique in their own way. So congrats to everyone who participated and see you on next one!

Even if many of this vector are complicated than others, ermm The work of shimazaki on the skin of the girl are just amazing, i don't know how you did that! ^^U the best of the vector of deto is the weapon, everything on the vector is great but the weapon is so very well done and those little details on the soft bright, is not easy to work with darks and not to exaggerate with the tones, because would be not obvious every made detail. On Tens vector, I love how the Clothes, skin and hair are made, the clothes, even from the small view we can define so well her figure and shades, just the gun It not stands out as should be. To moutonzare vector, the armor was the definitive point to choose you, very well done with that shojo style keeping the Roughness appearance. To Akihikosama, for being like a mecha, you use different tones for each sides of the mecha, You were careless with one small side of the weapon, but all the work is great, I feel and see the weapon and is like a machine, and you made the metal seems like metal. I hope join to this kind of contest soon, (I never find out when is it -_-) good work to everyone.

Generally the quality of these vectors are so high that my vote is focus on my personal taste. Compliments to every one.
So my rank is:
Akiranyo: I really like this vector (my most favorite) for its details and its cool colors. Wonderful Job.
CloudGer: I think the best coloration and shadow use of light and shadow balance.
Akihikosama: Good details.
Vampluva well, this is more simple but generally I like it especialli for its graphic impact with the light effect on the weapons.
Shimazaki: In this vector I like the "smudged" paintings.

Good work everyone, it was very hard to vote since you all did such a good job!

Had hard time commenting since I figured it would be boring to keep writing how good entries are, since most of them are really good, instead I just tried pointing out what I don't really like and let order of them speak more of what I like :3

1. @CloudGer:I really like all the smooth shading that has been done. There's lots of detail which all combine together to give depth to the character. The pose is really awesome and the gauntlet looks cool. This shows how powerful Inkscape can be in mimicking painted scans.
2. @Akihikosama, @Deto15:Akihikosama's vector has basic shading but the amount of detail makes it stand out. The mechanized gadget on her back has a lot of detail and the shading really gives it a solid feel. Deto15's vector excels in being simple but the usage of gradients and selective blur makes it interesting. I like all the detail on the scythe that gives it a bumpy insect carapace feel.
3. @Shimazaki:Shimazaki's scan choice is something I really like. The character seems sexy and is popping out dat ass. Gradients in the hair really appeal to me. The combination of hard edges and smoothness is close to how I would approach the hair. The embroidery on her corset is hawt. I'd eat her up. Only things I would improve on is adding darker gradients on her skin and the use of reflected gradients on the gun to give it more feel.
4. @yago-san:Someone who likes H2SO4 scans as much as I do. The shading is spot on to compliment the original style. The dress feels like something I could grab. I really like the color choice for the scan. The tone and saturation of colors in the same range contrast and blend nicely together.
5. @Akiranyo, @moutonzare:Can't decide which one to rank higher. Aki's choice of scan isn't something I like (I also don't like the anime) but I still have to give him credit. The character has a good amount of objects on her for the eye to look at. Aki's traditional approach with gradients and shading is simple but it's enough to give the character some feel. Mouton's vector is about the same in approach. However, the pattern on her tights and sword is very fluid and detailed. This is a true display of skill.
6. @Vampluva:Nice attempt. It's a scissors maid! I like the cold look on her face. The shading is too solid for my taste. Gradients should have been used on the shades to make her clothes feel more like cloth.
7. @GoldenApe:Simple and overall the character feels very light. I would have liked to see more contrast. There also seems to be a white pixel in middle of her hair. I thought my monitor had a dead pixel when I saw it. ;_;
8. @SamB:Good effort at attempting to vector the original. The sword's detail is good to look at. But I feel the shapes are really lacking. They feel sloppy and not curvy enough.
9. @FiiFo:The vector is lacking in refinement despite being really simple. It looks like it got rushed even though it was the first entry. I wish you had more time to put into it.

Was pretty hard to sort them this round.

First of all, great entries everyone! I'm actually quite surprised to see everyone went with more classy and original scans instead of the 'usual' Bleach/Naruto crap. Not that you can't make a good vector of those series, but they usually lack appeal, which is also very important for any image.
Anyways, let's get on with the voting:
Lol, I just noticed I favored the most ecchi entries in this competition, which kinda shows how important the scan choice is (or what a perv I am xD). Of course I judge on vector quality, but delivering that "wow-effect" sure helps a lot.
2 years, 5 months ago
Well now! Nice entries everyone, even though some of you rushed to meet the deadline, it's still an admirable effort. :3
Deto15. I saw various wip pics of this as you were working, so I appreciate all the hard and frustrating parts you managed to pull through gracefully. :3 The lineless approach is attractive to me, because it lets you focus on more realistic shades instead of relying on lines. The huge weapon frames her pose nicely, so nice scan choice. Your vector is soft and subtle where needed and hard and sharp elsewhere. Smooth finesse and craftsmanship.
CloudGer. Full comment on your vector upload here. (I'm so glad you chose a classic weapon themed scan!!) It's well done, but lacks the control and finesse found in the shades in Deto's vector. (having more colors in yours vs his doesn't matter)
yago-san and akihikosama. Good vectors, like others have said, nothing really wrong about them. :3 Nice details where needed, but more detail and shine could be added on the hair and metal parts.
Shimazaki. Well done on smoothing the hair and skin. The yellow lines on the skin are a bit distracting - a dark desaturated brown or purple would have sufficed. Now, what I don't like here is that the focus is all on her (must be for the guys...) instead of wielding a weapon in a serious manner - she could be holding an umbrella or anything really, so I rate this one lower because she just happens to be holding a gun. However, you did well on smoothing the shades. :)
Tens. Although you did not finish, I can still see the craftsmanship behind the varying thickness of the lines and the smooth gradients. It looks clean.
Akiranyo and Mouton. Very nice poses. :D They are nice, but they seem rather simple in color scheme and detail. Aki's could easily have more details in the hair and ropes, or more gradients. While Mouton's looks unfinished - the bright yellow and green clash a little and the pattern on her leggings could be more subtle and "wrap" more around her curves instead of looking like a pattern overlay.
GoldenApe. A scan I like very much, but the vector is just too unfinished, lacking necessary detail and shades in the hair, gun, and skin.
Vampluva and fiifo. Clean, but very typical vectors.
samb. I see unattractive stroked lines and various color leaks. Keep practicing. :)

1- moutonzare Love the colors, and the amount of details is just amazing, and the choice of scan was awesome.
2- CloudGer Really good shading and lightning, nice colors and freaking awesome sword xD
3- Akihikosama Simple yet complicated, It may look like a normal vector and stuff, but the scan you chose it's complex enough, and nice use of blur and gradients.
4- deto15 Really nice vector, and you were really brave by picking a BRS scan, I've tried once and I just had to gave up.
5-Shimazaki Really NICE choice of scan, the vector kinda looks like a vexel/vector, it's good, but the colors are a little pale on her hair.
6-Vampluva & Tens Both are great vector, Kudos for Tens making like ON the dead line, and Vampluva for posting it earlier xD But in Vampluva's vector, there were one thing that I didn't like, it was here eyes, they're pretty weird, and in Tens, what I like the most were the eyes xD
7- Akiranyo, GoldenApe, fiifo & samb All nice vector, not too much or too little.
