At this point in time, naruto is almost unbearable for me. Each week we get probably a solid (if were lucky) 5 minutes of new content and the rest of it are flashbacks of the previous episodes or flashbacks we have seen over a hundred times. I understand why their prolonging things b/c its catching up to the manga way too quickly. Honestly I'm not sure what is worse...flashback re-runs or plain old fillers that just have random made up episodes, but still new none-the-less.

Fillers are definitely worst. At least flashback is somewhat part of the plot, but fillers are not even related to the story.

Fillers for any anime that is way too long. At least flash backs are part of the story line and you get some new content. Well it depends on the Anime in question.

Flashbacks are often boring, especially if it's the same over and over again. Nevertheless, Fillers are even worse, cause sometimes there are mistakes with jutsus. And of course, since Fillers are not interfering with the main story, only Filler-characters are able to die. There could never be any good turnig point..

Flashbacks is the worst.
I can stand and even enjoy sometimes the fillers very well. I learned since the first time to watch them, but not with Flashbacks and then.. Flashbacks of fillers? what is worst?: Flashbacks O__O. Besides the fillers are shorters, funny aaaand... sometimes to piuk. xD
Flashbacks abuse is.. just.. man... xD the worst ever.

Both of them. I'd like to watch it normally, just episode by episode, without any 'extras'. Now I just dropped it and wait until it's finished.

I hate fillers. Flashbacks are great to figure out how the characters become the way they did but fillers are in my opinion a huge waste of time. It's pointless. You'd really go far once you drop all the fillers. Then again, this is also what makes the series going strong?

Flashbacks are forgivable if they aid somehow in character development, or if they go into a character's past. But most of the time they pop up during emotional times/death scenes, which is just the typical way for them for be. Still, it's like, "Come on, seriously?" But if you're talking about re-cap episodes, those are completely skip-able and don't add much to the plot.
However, fillers are far worse. Just get to the point, already. There's no need to go on an unrelated tangent for an entire season or two.

For me, it's fillers. Half the time, they're horribly written and just feature main characters in random situations. As for flashbacks, I actually love them, lol. I don't remember a time when I've skipped one, except when they're repeated in the show. Since they provide background to the story, I find it necessary for me to watch them. Other than that, fillers get all my wrath.

Definitely fillers. There is nothing worse than them. They have zero relevance to the plot, don't add anything to the characters and waste our time. The characters in fillers are also always shoddily done and they always just disappear as though the producers thought, "Wait, we better get on with the story."
Flashbacks on the other hand is necessary to fill in information. On the other hand, there are a few anime with good fillers but they're mainly anime where the manga is worse than the anime itself such as Shugo Chara

I'd like to avoid both but I'd prefer filler over flashback because at least it's new (and hopefully good because some fillers suck) content.

I prefer flashbacks...It's to know the past of each character rather than fan service and the like

Flash backs have their purpose, Fillers just annoying and heavily abused.

If they are watchable, then I don't mind. It's obvious that flashbacks are more important to the story than fillers, but then again, unlike fillers which may vary from an arc, a short story with different content (some of them are even good), flashbacks either get boring (because they have no impact) or become repetitive (the typical traumatic pasts are like over 9k cases out there). In the end, I think both can be equally bad if wrongly done.

Fillers not only strays from the main part of the plot line, but it's an whole episode (or many like Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, etc.) wasted on something forgettable once the viewers are back on it. At least with flashbacks, it's only temporarily and refreshes the viewers what happen recently. But viewers don't need multiple episodes about something that can be reminded in one. Sadly, that's how it works in filler-based anime.

I seriously hate flashbacks..."man Im watching the show continuesly, I dont remember every single detail, but I know what happened, so stop being lazy and draw more new scenes so that I can enjoy my favorite show ><" that's what Id tell the animators... Fillers on the other hand have their ups and downs. Sometimes the content is very interesting, maybe filling some gaps, or making a character more familiar to you via the info provided. Some other times though, they are so boring I just cant bare to watch em...

I agree with GineticFreak. Flashbacks are boring but at least they are somewhat part of the plot !

Flashbacks... hm... hard to say... sometimes fillers are annoying and off plot and makes the characters act really bad and exaggerate their personalities... while Flashbacks can be given so often, you'd say "dude haven't seen enough of this?"

Both are pretty bad to me. Ain't nothing worse than having an anime get super interesting, only to be killed by sudden fillers or flashbacks.

I'll go with fillers, because flashbacks tell you more aout the background of each character. Yet even a filler can be a flashback at times, so sometimes it depends on the filler type.
There are good fillers, and there are bad fillers, that's how business in Animation studios and the cooperation between Manga Artists and Animation studios is. They wanna keep the show rolling, in order to maintain the already due to bad economics low profits that they are making, despite the global success.
Fillers are business in Japanese Animation and Comic culture, and we gotta live with it.

If the flashback is something new, and not a re-run of stuff we've already seen, then I like them. Otherwise, I think flashbacks are worse than fillers
