So, I decided to post my latest WIP here. I'm trying a different vectoring method here than I usually do.Mainly using shapes instead of paths. I'm also really trying to focus on gradients and take my time with this one. Also, the WIP picture is in my dropbox so it will update as I go along. Any comments and tips would be much appreciated. :D Oh yeah, Im doing this in Photoshop Cs5.
And so far here is my progress

The gradients are looking good so far. :3 But I would say up close many lines are looking too "globular" and thick, especially in the hair where the lines should be much more smooth and flowing. Use less anchor points with the pen tool to do this, and you can smooth out lines by selecting two points on either side of a shape with the white arrow tool, then editing their handle bars parallel to each other (make sure both handle bars are 180 degrees on an anchor point to smoothly integrate that point along the path). Also, those lines in the hair need to be darker where in shadow - how about applying gradients to the lineart as well? I would say the line of the nose needs to be thinner/more subtle, the eyebrow darker, and the whites of the eyes darker too. But keep on working. :3 More gradients for shading are always welcome.

Thanks Nysha, I really appreciate your input. I went and added some gradients to some of the lines in the hair and shirt where needed. I will probably add some in the pants today as well. I fixed the eye white and made the brows darker as well. Kamlotten had also pointed that out about the lines needing less anchor points. I will definitely try to remember that tip as well.
