This was something I worked on the last week or so.

Youtube description: I started this project with the intention of it just being a modeling project but I realized I could animate parts of it like in the movie. This was my first project using Maya's fluid container particles so it was a good learning experience.
The project features Fate Testarossa's magic device as seen in the anime. This version is the movie version with the rounded blade as opposed to the jagged version seen in the TV series. Audio credits available at the end of the video.
Modeling took less than a day. The particles took three days. The rest were all animating, cameras and adjusting the glow of some of the pieces. Modeled and animated in Autodesk Maya 2012 and rendered in Mental Ray.

That is AMAZING. Now all we need is you to get a 3D printer and then you can sell your bardiches for loads of money and I will finally get the weapon of my dreams. You rock!
I've always wanted someone to do something like this because you can never see their devices from all the angles in the anime. The only slightly negative point, which is not even that much of a negative point, is the rather plain and dim background. This is good on the grounds that it allows us to focus more on the actual Bardiche itself but if there was a more interesting background it would make the video more appealing. The low lighting was another slight issue as I think it detracted from the wonderfully dark shine of the model.
However, as a project taking you less than a week, it is the best model I've ever seen!
