Before i start vectoring just want to ask for some inputs on extracting the image. I'm still rookie in extracting using pen tool so any kind of comments good or bad will be appreciated. :D

Not sure why you're bothering to extract the image in order to vectorise it personally. Create vector layer(s), trace desired parts leaving the background untraced.

Nice render.

just want to isolate it :)

@deto15
render? I didn't do any rendering here or are you talking about the scanned image :3

Deto's just abusing a commonly used term for an extracted image. Like a lot of these terms it needs to die cause its just plain wrong.

oh ok, do i need to create multiple layers for the eyes, hair, body and etc?

It is usually a good idea to create them along with folders or groups since it gives more control over the overlapping parts. One tip would be to put them in the order that makes sense. Ex: in the scan you can see that the neck is behind the face but the hair is in front of the face and so on.

i see thanks for your input. i'm still trying to get a good grip on the pen tool especially in making curves

I too don't understand the point of extracting it first. You're just going to be tracing over it anyway so it's just extra unnecessary work.

clest "just" wants to isolate it may be necessary for image manipulation purposes or I could say its her way of doing. For me its nice to see the extracted character.

Actually, you don't need to extract the image if you want to vector it. ^^; Well, I'm new in vectoring too. Anyway, what program do you use?
