There's this "halo" effect around the figure due to the gradient in the background, I'm not sure if there's a specific light source (i.e.: light from top right corner), or it's meant to be a 2D background. Just some rambles. I'm sure you've experimented with everything possible and this is the winning combo.

"Wow. I can tell a lot of work went into transforming the scan into a beautiful vector. The colours are well chosen and nicely harmonized. I am not particularly fond of the font (or just the light effect behind it). I think it'd be cool if you could have flower petals fall on the font or something (just to relate to the pretty pattern on her kimono).
