"The conceptualization of this piece is a one-hit K.O.
It's really cool how you came up with the umbrella made out of encouraging(?) words and arch that looks like a cross between a rainbow and a sunrise/set. My favorite part is how you illustrated the "FULL LIFE" typography + tree, with the tree looking like someone took an "E"-shaped bite out of it (again, lots of symbolism there) xD and the monarch butterfly as the symbol of emancipation completes the wall's scenery perfectly. To sum it all up and to reiterate, this is an awesome wall!"

And I'm really happy you didn't just smack Ichigo on a paper background unlike he usually is (yeah he's one of the more abused wall characters) You did an awesome job on the vector and the background makes perfect sense to me. Have just one comment though: the kanji looks a little too vectored to me, maye blurring the edges just a tiny bit would suit the wall better? So that it'd be more "part of the background"... Either way, Gook work on this one!"

"Normally I wouldn't go for walls like these but I saw the jellybeans (one of my fave sweets) and so I was moved to tears lol Anyways I gotta say that the vector is very good and I'm all for those crisp paper creases, plus the arrangement of the elements got my mind working (the faded repetition of L&candies especially) just one thing though -- The orange L silhouette is a bit distracting for me.. nothing that can't be over looked though. "Woah you sure used a lot of glow and shadow _(._.)- ...
... and some bevel/emboss, if I'm not mistaken, and did a lot of brushwork but I think you're missing some essential gradients. But then again the lighting's kinda head-on(flat) so that can be excused. And the colors are nice, but I think the pastels and black-blue-ness is a little TOO much of a contrast. The character is cute though, and so is the concept of the cracked mirror & strings.. Good luck with this entry ^^"

"The title caught my attention;
"The Taste of Ink" by The Used is one emo song that I can't forget (even though I'm not much for emo xD)

ANYWAYS to start off, include a link to the original screencap/scan in your description (although I pretty much know this scene by heart; it's a classic, even in the manga)

and I'm groping in the dark when I say this but I think you should make the shading of his body more 'sketchy' (use parallel adequately-spaced straight separate fine strokes instead of those thick continuous brush strokes). Also, I think you should manipluate your brush settings to reach that 'inkyness' your title speaks of. I suggest adding some Pen Pressure dependent settings to the brush to vary the sizes of stroke parts.

Also, the typography is a bit off for me. Do you mean the larger and paler 'Death Note' text to be a shadow of the more solid and smaller one? If you do, I think you should move the "shadow" down a little to justify your gradient/lighting.

I'm not sure what to call this technique by; it's like vectoring by text but not quite vectoring or typography... Either way I this makes for a very smart way to stamp sigs onto wallpapers xD Some of the text like 'immortal' and 'manji' look like bits of tape that were stuck there without much thought though.. maybe it would be cooler if you'd skewed them to fit the surfaces/contours of the character -- defines the figure more, for us with lower IQ/visual recognition xD It's no biggie though; the flatness actually suits the woodblock print feel of it all ^^"

Definitely worth a fave, but I think that the on the last 'L' of 'Angel' is a misfit. Maybe you could make a version changing that to a feather, perhaps? But as usual, it can be overlooked. ^^
PS. I don't think that Shiki should be centered; that'd leave an awful gap between the 'I am' and 'Angel' then, so the non-centeredness is understandable xD"
