This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
"Umm... it's a bit crowded, I think. Basically it looks like you just plastered Yuna all across the wall, and that gives the eye nowhere to focus on. It's a good effort, but I suggest you work on improving your layout. Head on over to Session Zero in the forum â?? the folks there would be able to advise you on your walling. =^^=" View

"It's a nice wall, and I like your use of a snow effect and the gloomy forest background. Overall, the theme looks great. =^^=
Given all that, there are a few hiccups...
There's a bit of roughness around the character lines that could use a bit of touching up. Not anything really obvious unless you look closely, so it doesn't detract much from the overall look. The roughness around the Kanji, though, is really obvious, made even more obvious by the pinkish glow around it. A little touching up â?? perhaps a touch of Gaussian blur â?? and it'll look a little better, IMO. Still, it's a great wall. =^^=" View

"This really does deserve the Highlighted spot! This is definitely not another Fraken-wall (ie. a wallpaper that has just been thrown together). I particularly like how you did the feather and light effects â?? and most especially how you made it all consistent. The light source falls just right on the character and on the feathers, giving the whole thing an ambience of subdued elegance. From reading your comments, I cn tell you did a lot of work on this one.
"I love simplicity. Many can inundate any given canvas area with spectacular effects and whatnot, but to get an aesthetically pleasing and balanced design with relatively few visuals takes real skill. I agree with Dias that you managed to capture a 'Japanese' feel to your wall. A good choice when going the scenic route. =^^=
With regard to details, I find this wallpaper to be remarkably consistent. From the yellow and orange color theme, to the almost defoliated tree, even to the leafy design on the girl's kimono, everything speaks of autumn. The Japanese-print texture only adds to it's aura. If I didn't know better â?? and if the girl looked less like an anime character â?? I might have been tempted to mistake it for an actual Japanese artwork. =^^=
I really like this wall â?? you've managed to capture the sad, angsty feel of the series. It's a good thing, too, that you settled on this BG, 'coz it works. I also like your choice of image for Chise: naked, with her back to the viewer and her head downcast, looking down at the doomed city with her hands clasped helplessly behind her. It complements the background â?? or maybe it's the other way around. The whole thing looks vaguely prophetic. All in all a nice wallpaper. =^^=" View

"It's fascinating seeing other people's creativity at work. While I may not sometimes agree with how they do it, I gotta admire it all the same. The same with your wall. I like it, it's beautiful, but it's not the way I would have done it.
First of all, three images of Yuna â?? all in the same pose! â?? on the same wall is too much, IMO. The image on left side â?? the one in the mirrored pose â?? could have been left out. The text and graphics on that side do a good job of balancing the wall â?? there was no need to duplicate Yuna on that side too. Also, the larger image of Yuna in the background would have done better if it was more translucent. As it is, both the foreground and background are fighting for attention.
Despite all that, I still find this wall to be rather nice. It is beautifully done and artistic. =^^=" View

"Overall a nice layout and design. The choice of background and the slightly translucent calligraphy is, in my opinion, the best part. I agree with Kalico, though, that a slightly softer feel would look better. Also, the chars seem a bit too large for the wall... just a little smaller and it would be more elegant, not as obstrusive.
Still, a great wall is a great wall, and that's a great wall. =^^=" View

"The overall effect is pleasing, to say the least. The color theme fits, and the swirl and sparkle effect complements the character nicely. The only thing about it that seems out of place to me is the choice of background. You have the right colors, but the 3D spiky ball thingy sort of draws attention away from the character. Not much, but it's there. In my opinion, it would be better if the ball was out of the picture and you stuck to fluid lines. All in all, however, it's a wonderful work. =^^=" View

"Here's living proof that you don't need fancy effects to make a great wallpaper. It was a particularly good decision to make the character images translucent rather than keeping them in the foreground â?? it adds that dreamy feel to it. I don't think it would have worked as well if you had made the images too prominent instead.
The whole thing is well balanced, though I think the text and kanji would have worked better in a slightly darker color. Still, it's a nice work of art. I do wish you had it on a lower resolution, but I suppose I could just scale it down to fit my desktop. It is, in my opinion, the most artistic of your works. Keep it up!
