This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

"I agree with what Helios is saying about the BG. The characters need to be distinguished more from the color of the bricks.
I am not totally convinced by the sky that you choose either. It seems like a pictuer taken when someone was looking straight up at the sky, intead of at an angle like the sky above a horizon. Maybe if you tried another sky stock it would be more convincing.
I am not sure about the fire. I don't think it looks to great the way that it is, and the colors are sort of distracting. Unless it has a lot to do with your content, I would suggest getting rid of it.
The colors seem a little loud to me. One of the great things about a lot of the speed grapher scans I have seen is their great use of neautral colors. Browns and beiges are used a lot in place of gray tones and I think that gives a unique look. You may want to incorporate that a little in to the colors of your wall. There are some great folds and wrinkles in their clothes that you don't really see because the clothes are so dark. Maybe if you lightened them up a bit it would look nice.
The last thing I don't like is the sillouette of the bricks. They look too straight and the corners are too sharp. If you look at the bricks themselves, they are more organic in their shape. There is one corner towards the top middle that you have a little better edge but for the most part I think you will have to really just go in there are rough up the edges a little to make them believable.
Anyways, I don't want to sound too critical beause I do like the wall. Those things are just suggestions for you to try and see if you like them. I look forward to seeing how this wall turns out. " View

"I agree with the above comment about the clouds. Also for some reason I feel like the girl would look better if her dress was extended to the ground. The conflicting shapes of the hands and her legs are bothering me for some reason. I think it is because I want to clearly distinguish the girl form the hands. If you still wanted the scabbard to show, you could angle it more horozontally so it would stick out near her thigh instead of her knee. IDK, maybe I'm wrong. I really like the overall feel of the wall though, you are doing a good job. " View

"Not crazy about the titling but I love Berserk and I don't think there are enough walls about it. It think the wood grain is done very well and I like what you did with the coloring of the clothes like you describe. Maybe it would help a little to have some of the shadows behind Casca and around her, like they would naturally be created between her and the wall, and her and the floor, but I like the lighting effects of the rest of the wall. I think it is stylized just enough to make it cool, and not make it look like you were taking short cuts or covering up bad vectors. I gotta be honest, I saw this wall a while ago and wasn't that impressed but I started watching Death Note (I'm on about ep 20) and when I saw it just now I instantly fell in love with it. Of course I knew the appropriated design when I saw it the first time but it really deepened my appreciation of it to actually connect it to the content of the series, and I think you are right that it would make more sense to have the roles reversed but I also agree that it probably has a much better aethetic this way. Great Job, Great wall. It's gonna be on my desktop for a long while.
