As an animation, Bakemonogatari has a simple, clean art style. But the guest illustrations for the series are anything but simple! So, it's great to see that °Tens took on a more complex illustration and made it his own with vector gradients so fine at points it more resembles painting that vectoring. Do have a look at this beautiful wallpaper!

"Wow, this looks really nice! The textures and mood of the wallpaper blend together perfectly. I really love the balance between clouds and the sky.

Some notes: the airplane is really out of place and looks like filler, and I think the wall would be better off without it. Also in general, there are very few scenic wallpapers that I have seen which have realistic-looking grass. The grass you have right now isn't bad at all, but it's still basically unchanged photoshop brushing. If you also had self-painted grass done as well as you did the clouds, this would have gone the extra mile. Nevertheless, great job on the rest of the wall!"

"Really commendable job! It's a great scan that you used (all the artbook scans are really nice), and you did some great things with it. I love the simple vector background (bricks), and the "leftover tape" is a really nice and creative touch. The posters that you have on the bottom right are a nice touch, though I think the text "pops out" (i.e. looks too 3-D). It's not that big an issue though; I don't think it detracts from the whole wallpaper.

The only major issue I have is perspective: the brick and the rest of the wall are maybe too warped. Not that bad, but still kinda noticeable.

Nevertheless, technical aspects and design are still top notch. Great work!"

"Hey, this is a pretty nice wallpaper. Your composition, spatial arrangement, and concept are all top notch. The background looks good and is pretty fitting for the theme that I believe you are going for. However, I do feel like the foreground isn't crisp enough...it seems too blurry/fuzzy. Instead, I feel that Kyou should be a clear and clean vector with definite edges (i.e. darker trace lines). That way, she will stand out more and look a lot better.

Nevertheless, you made a pretty good wallpaper; excellent job!"

"Awesome job! The detail and meticulous care is nothing short of amazing. I'm not sure I like the "postprocessing" (the blurring, etc.), but still a damn fine piece of work. I'm very impressed by the effort and attention you've poured into this wallpaper."

Queen Busters

"Hmmm, so far, this is my favourite wall out of everything in the entire Little Busters! category. You managed to keep a nice dose of content and balance, yet managed not to get it too cluttered.

Some comments though: under the screenshots of the other characters, you have a soft white glow. This glow looks kind of unnatural--maybe a "soft light" blending mode would be better. Anyways, the glow should be reduced. Also, while I really like the layout/design of the wall, it kinda looks "too symmetrical". For instance, the text can be different on each side, as well as the brush designs. That is a small and easy way to give this wall a bit more flair.

I still think this is a great wall, though it can be improved to make it an even better one!"

Sun Field

"Wow, this is one of the nicest walls I've seen in a while. The sunflowers aren't too overdone, and they fit in with the sky very nicely. I love what you've done with the colouring; the blur in the center is a really nice effect.

Some areas for improvement would be the blurred skies on the sides of the wall, as it doesn't quite "melt together" with the depth of field. But I gotta repeat, this is really really nice."

"Whoa, I really like your vector and changes to the colour and general composition.

Your "shading" vector layers add a nice touch; consider, though, not to have the edges of these vector layers stand out too much. For example, take her leg: the separation of the different shades of colour stand out too much, so maybe blend them into each other a little bit.

I really like where this wall is going though!"

"This is nice; I really love the colours. I think the dark/light contrast and the perspective could be made more dynamic, but those are really only small detail issues.

The leaves are a nice touch!"

"Oh, nice vibrant colours! I've never really managed to figure out how these painted walls are done (are tablets the only way?), but anyhow, this one turned out really nice. The blurry water isn't a problem at all; in fact, the bluriness is actually good, as it clearly defines and separates "water" from "not...water" =/ (haha, water is an important metaphor!). And speaking of metaphors, could the lack of sunlight and light reflection also be one? Even if it's not, we'll just pretend it is anyways :) (I'm an absolute sucker for extranecessary lighting and photoshop magic).

I also like the layered clouds...how there are separate and varying degrees of cloud density and opacity. That creates a really nice depth of scenery.

And another thing that really stands out as exceptional: the gold border pattern on her dress.

Wut, this is a pwn recreation of a not pwn screenshot."

Just Like Water

"Best part of this wall is the contrast between the organic feel of the painted parts, and the solid vectors (ie her hair). The bubbles are also a really nice touch--the details on the bubbles, such as the "edges" around them, makes them look very nice and realistic. I don't actually feel like she's underwater (something to do with the overall texture/lighting), but that's not a really significant issue. I can see the careful attention that you guys put into creating a high quality wall, and you two should be greatly lauded for that.

Oh, and jacking the fishes from a love hina scan also adds a nice touch XD"

"Nice, I love the dynamic feel and the movement that this wall demonstrates.

I understand you wanted a water texture, etc., but I think without the filtered effect, it actually have a better parchment look--as it stands now, the "extra effects" are too heavy.

Still a very pleasing to look at wall. The left side is especially good (the horizontal ocean scape with the flower textures)."

"Uwaaa I love shimion!

I think the background fadeout into white oblivion is the best effect. Dresses look fantastic. About your alt version with text: not that I have any problem with the text itself (my opinion generally is "the more elaborate text design, the better," mind you), it's the blending mode of the text that I'm not a fan of.

Other than that, the black/maroon colour scheme (two of my favourite colours, as it turns out) work really well, not only visually, but also keeping in with the overall theme."

"This wall is really really nice. What impresses me the most is the seamless blending of the background into the scan. If you didn't say so, I would have thought that the scan and the bg were one and the same!

The mountains are really rich, and matches nicely with the lush sunlight coming through."

"Collage ain't bad, a good way to use those high-quality scans without the bothersome extraction =D

I think some light/dark contrast on the borders of the photographs would help it blend into the background and form a more cohesive full.

Pretty nice job, though I'm an Azaka fan myself...so boo on Shiki !!"

Kitten
since the first one is without
clothes.

AP is all about sharing your ero work!! I'll go save this on my other comp...

Everything else aside, the drawing is fantastic...the vector looks fabulous. True, adding clothes is a good idea (but for completely different reason than what you think, mind you), because it will give you an opportunity to further show off vectoring/drawing/design skills.

Now the foreground and middleground:
It nicely employs the space you have, so that while the wall isn't boring due to emptiness, it also isn't to cluttered. The patterns for the room walls are also pretty good...again, interesting, yet not too much.

Now the moonlight is okay, but the window frame, especially the moonlight's reflection on it, looks dull and static compared to the rest of your wallpaper. That said, I would like to see some more work with lighting, lighting effects, and overall more dynamic photoshop magic with how light plays into the wall. Because as you can see, it's a wonderful drawing/design and a lovely wallpaper, but the entire scene is all in one static light covering, without any variation.

I wrote a lot because I think this is a nice wall that deserves the attention ;)"

"The composition of this wall is very nice. The painted branches/trees in background look especially good and atmospheric (this part is pretty impressive).

Some comments though:
-While the flower centers themselves look really nice airbrushed, the petal traces themselves could look better solid.
-The vector of her hair (especially where two different yellow shades meet) could be clearer, sharper--in general, more concise.

Don't get me wrong; the reason I'm critiquing details like this is because I think that this wall is really good, and it's definitely worth the attention."
