This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.

While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

Not Alone

"Impressive for a 1sty!
If I could make some personal observations?
The character silhouette fits in nicely but the edges seem too sharp and abrupt. A little blending or glow on the edge might help it fit in better. Think of when you see an object in real life in front of a bright light source. The black edges would have a sort of glare about them.

Also, I really like the background you did here and the mushishis or whatever it is flying about. I think extending it the whole way from top to bottom would be great. You could still keep the words if you have the bottom part get very dark. It is afterall the forest floor and will be very dark. The tree looks very good. I'd like to see more of it and I'd also like to see more of your works of art in due course ^_^"

"Haha working on this at 1 in the morning eh?

Lovely use of the scan. Excellent feel to it.
I like the way you made the puffy clouds and the planet object in the bg.
I'm liking the texturing on the floor and I think with some more shading with the railing, it could give the perfect sense of depth."

"Brilliant. The simplistic style was an excellent choice.
Great detail and choice of vibrant colours with the vectoring.
Good addition with the horizontal lines across the background that adds a nice texture to an otherwise flat background."

"I'm loving the layout. Reminds me of this abstract scenic I saw someplace else.
The vectored shading looks great. Especially the tree. Looks spectacular.
Great stuff.

"The tile she's standing on and the pillars look great. But the ultra blurriness in the right side would be better off as more scenery imo.
Great vectoring as always."

I think the wood in the background could look a little sharper.
And maybe put some reflection on the sweat drop?"

Personally I think it's an excellent idea changing the colours. Makes her seem very angelic rather than the evil she's portrayed as most of the time.
Impressive texturing with the background and window foreground.
Great stuff."

Looks to be well extracted too.
the big heart behind the text has slightly jagged edges. Maybe smooth them out a bit."

Maybe add in the shading on alice's wings/feathers/whatever they are like in the screencaps?"

"Hehe they're so cute! xD
I think the modifications you made to the stock background worked pretty well. They have a very good anime style to them. When I looked at the wall before reading the description I at first thought you'd drawn or vectored all the foreground plants.
Great stuff."

do you want to play with my bunny?

"Great first vector!
If I might make a suggestion though. I made all my previous vectors in the same style just tracing lines with the pen tool. But solwyvern brought to my attention another method/style which involves varying thickness of lines and results in a far sharper and professional looking vector.
If you'd like to see how it's done, solwyvern showed me an excellent tutorial on how to do it. It's the second method on the tutorial. I really think it's worth the extra effort. So far, the new vector I'm making looks spectacular. It's not difficult either, just may take more time."

It seems your efforts really worked here. You made an excellent background.
Perhaps the birds are a little flat because they're quite close up.
Overall effect is superb though.
Well done!"

"Hello. Wow. I really have to say you did an amazing job with this work.
It's just how I pictured I wanted the vector to be used except I couldn't do it. Now it seems I don't have to.
Absolutely superb sky and clouds background.
I'm feeling very satisfied that my work was used so well! ^_^"
