This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

I would have imagined the critter more.. ghostly, somewhat transparent [a little like the Spirits Within type]. "Well, the rain drops layer [a photo] was inverted [its colors, I mean] in Photoshop and then I changed the layer mode from Normal to.. umm.. I don't recall, Screen or something of similar effect. Changed the contrast a bit, changed the transparency a bit... and so on. There are several 'rain' layers with different image and opacity settings." View

"Hmm, I'm not sure the background fits... The character is made of sharp, well-defined lines, while the background has a more fuzzy/sparkling/photorealistic [well, not really, but still, it's not as 'cartoonish' as the character'] look. And the direction the light falls on the character is not the same with the direction of the light in the background. The background has a somewhat dim, fuzzy light, while the light on the character falls from above and a little left. Sill, the difference is too big to be unnoticed. Try to chose similar lighting for both background and character, and maybe to paint some blue on the character, to match the background.. or something to make them blend more..." View
