"It's seldom I see a wall with a character that has eyes as beautiful and piercing as the one in yours. I looked at this wall and thought "wow".

I love his hair too! The colors are so subtly blended together and natural looking. I'm one of those people who appreciate little tiny details a lot, so things like paying attention to highlights in hair, the subtle sheen on the eyes, and the lovely lighting effects really stands out to me.

I've always loved your pieces (I'm sure you hear this ALL the time), but this vector/wall really spoke to me. The title was also perfect.

"The extraction is really good, but the background is way too plain and boring and blurry to showcase the character. I realize you wanted to make the background subtle, but it's coming off as blurry, which makes me want to squint my eyes.

I really don't know what you want to change for a background since I don't quite know if you have an exact theme in mind, but something with more detail than just a flag and his name would really suit him. I guess, if you can, a subtly detailed background would complement Vega's equally flamboyant appearance."

"It's great to see a NGE where they all look like the normal secondary school kids that they're supposed to be. And I don't see too many with Kaoru as just "one of the guys" (maybe I haven't been looking hard enough lol) so that made me happy.

Great job on the vector and I like the color scheme. I like the simplicity of the background too -- it seems so detailed in spite of being a silhouette.

"This wall is lovely. I love the color scheme, very soft and pastel. It suits the girl very nicely. I do wish the background had a bit more too it though. I feel like it's too pale and doesn't compliment the figure in the center.

With regard to similarity to already existing artists... I think there are a lot of faces found across the manga and anime universes that look exactly the same and can only be distinguished by their hair and style of dress. I guess with this in mind, a good goal may be how to take a basic concept and making it your own somehow.

I just feel that, as happens with books (Lord of the Rings to Harry Potter to Septimus Heap) and video games (every other RPG vs Final Fantasy), someone is always going to compare you to someone else who has already made a name for themselves.

I adore this wall. It looks fantastic on my desktop. I really like how the texture is like an old, slightly washed out canvas painting. It's absolutely gorgeous. It gives you the feel that it's an antique-ish sort of painting, but the colors are still vibrant. Plus I agree -- sleeping Amaterasu is too cute! Thank you for sharing this wall!

Secondly, I like the sepia tone of the wall. It gives it that antique photo effect, which I absolutely adore.

I'm going to have to agree about the background though. Right now it looks like you have poster edges on the photo, and it just doesn't match with your vector of Roy and Hughes. My Photoshop skills are STILL very noobish, so I have no advice on how to make it blend better with the two characters, but it certainly needs something more than just a few filters placed over it to make it look like it belongs with anime characters.

The overall concept is wonderful. Don't change the theme or the picture, just try to bridge that gap between reality and anime! Keep up the good work Roy "

"I don't know if you vectored/vexeled Roy, but the edges look rather pixelated.

Overall, the concept is pretty decent. I really like the color scheme -- it's pretty good for portraying a somber feel. Given your title is "Sadness", I assume this is a good thing. Roy's facial expression is also very somber, so I think this image works well for the effect you're aiming for.

The background is nice, but I have to agree about the effects going down the left hand side. They stick out like a sore thumb. My suggestion would be to soften them or maybe even nix them altogether and use shapes that suit the square pattern of your background better.

"I want to start off by saying I love that you're doing an Ouran wall!

Okay, you want the concept to be family, right? My only issue is, while the scans you've used are of decent quality and all, I think the images don't quite scream family the way you may want them to. Also, this is a minor nitpick, but the fact that everyone is in their school uniform and looking relatively happy except for Kyouya sticks out like a sore thumb for me.

To me, the images feel like they were selected at random and then mashed into a collage. You did lay them out well, but I just think there are better ones you could use for a family wall of the Host Club. The silly chibi images you've used in the background actually feel more natural and family-like than the main scans in the foreground. Again, I think I feel like the foreground scans don't blend all that well together because of Kyouya lol.

As for the background itself, the images are cute, but I think it's a bit busy with that AND the lines/stars. I would suggest taking the extra Tamaki/Haruhi images out and focusing on something that doesn't involve -more- images of the Host Club members."

"I really like the simplicity of this wall. I wonder though, if maybe Namine herself might deserve a little bit more attention? Not so much as to overpower the simple, colorful background you've produced, but for instance, even though her overall facial expression definitely conveys a sense of waiting for something, her eye is blank. It lacks depth and actually looks a little weird to me.

Otherwise I really like the lines of the scan. I think you chose the colors and the title well. I look forward to seeing the finished product ^_^"

Dalarty - I know the edges of their faces, hands, etc. look pixelated, but that's not because I stretched the image out and made it poor quality or anything lol. If you look closely at the scan (or at a copy of the manga as I have in my hand right now), those are already there in the original drawing. Of course, this doesn't make for a lovely effect with the color burn I did over the image, so I'll see about trying to blend those in a bit so they look less pixelated. Any tips on blending? I seem to be inept with the smudge/blur tools ~_~

Roy - You're wonderful as always! I thought the Nietzsche quote just fit this particular scan so amazingly well, I couldn't NOT use it lol.

Kaizor - Thank you for the compliment on the background! I like this one a lot better myself. You really think 3 lines of text is too much though?

I agree about adding maybe some more interesting textures in the background. I like the rays a lot though, and the blue gives the wall a nice moody feel to go along with Roy's expression.

You chose the font and color scheme of the 3 swoops well, but I feel like the swoops take away from the text since they're considerably larger stacked on top of each other the way they are. Have you considered reducing the thickness of each individual swoop?

You're doing great work. Keep it up - I can't wait to see this in the gallery."

"I think simple can be great, in fact simple is what I prefer, but the background definitely needs a little extra something to give it that oompf that will make everyone who sees it say wow, that's an awesome wall.

I agree with the others -- it'd help if you gave a few sentences about what you were trying to do with the wall and what kind of areas you're looking for advice on since it's kinda hard to help someone blindly.

The poster edge effect gives Light and L an interesting look."
