This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.

While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

Aya's Room - Tenjou Tenge

3 months 1 week ago

"This is one of the best wallpaper's I've seen in a while. The coloring and detail of every single object in the wallpaper is jaw-dropping and the bright and very light color tone is consistent throughout the whole wallpaper. You paint a wonderful scene of Aya and her room, and used excellent placement to center her and draw the room around her by placing all of the objects that would be in the room around her but not detailing them so much or making them so significant that it takes away anything from her, since she is the focus of the wallpaper. The tree behind her is astounding and only helps to offset Aya's bright colors, which in the end makes her stand out more beautifully. By far this wallpaper without question is a +Fav, a thumbs up approval and an excellent job well done."

"Well for your first wallpaper I must say this is particularly impressive. The dark tone of the entire wall at first might be a repulsive point, but that's quickly thrown out the window thanks to the fact that everything compliments the lighting effects. The character is dark but not indistinguishable, the background is also very dark, but can be made out thanks to the breaks in the trees for lighting and all together the glare does not conflict with anything else in the screen and the text can be easily read so I'd consider this a job well done. Pat yourself on the back for your first wall. Not enough for me to +Fav but enough to say this is a great piece of work for wallpaper number one. Congrats."

"Commenting again now on second revision. Well the more greenish background helps make the character stand out more and helps place the moon as strictly a background item, so now with this new revision I actually kinda like the wallpaper somewhat. Placement of everything is good, although that was never a problem, and overall the focal point of the character is now clearly defined. Everything now kind of falls into place nicely and nothing fights over placement or attention from the viewer anymore so I must say now upon the second revision this wallpapers pretty decent. Good job."

Sunrise, sunset

3 months 1 week ago

"This is a good wallpaper. I often talk about how a wallpaper is trying to paint a scene, or that as an artist you would want one to either draw an emotion from the viewer, or try to paint a scene. This defines the later almost to perfection, as the color tone is not too blooming bright that it hurts the eyes and repulses the viewer back, nor is it too dark that it conflicts with the tone of the wallpaper. When I saw this, I was emotionally moved into thinking of a nice warm summer's evening that is perfectly warm, almost like baseball-perfect twilight weather. That's when I realized this wallpaper was excellent, in that an emotion was pulled from my memories/mind. The colors work well to set the twilight, summer's evening tone, and the characters compliment and set this tone wonderfully. If I were to order the focal points of the wallpaper it would be: 1. Characters, 2. Sunlight, 3. Clouds, 4. Balloons, 5. Grass Blowing, 6. Kite Flyer, and this order executes the wallpaper so well. With the focus first being on the characters running around playfully, the tone of the wallpaper is set to very lax and cheerful, followed by a twilight (sunset) type sunlight that helps keep that lax tone, along with the clouds that come next. Then the balloons and grass blowing in the wind, which makes the wall feel even more free-flowing and laid-back. Following by a kite flyer who carelessly enjoys the day very freely. The thing I'm trying to point out here is the consistency in everything that is placed in the wallpaper. Everything maintains the tone and helps compliment it by doing such. This is in part thanks to a beautiful placement of everything. Absolutely wonderful all around, and without a doubt deserving of a +Fav and pat on the back. Excellent job."

"This is just like "Cold Rage" in the fact that the wallpaper is essentially two colors. The focal point is clearly the girl, which is fine, but she is all the more ruined by the fact that, since the wallpaper is very bland color-wise, other things in the wallpaper, like the moon and the dragons only blend into the character and not compliment her by detailing the background, thus adding a confusing function to your focal point, causing it to become less attractive. The problem is that since they mesh the scene that is trying to be depicted is ruined on the bases that everything becomes one free flowing object that is placed on a rather bland background instead of one well defined focal point place into a scene that helps compliment her complexion, and thus advance the quality of the wallpaper. You should not fear color, because the lack of it has now ruined two consecutive wallpapers. I'll give you more credit on this one, since you added, or attempted to add, more into the background scenery and therefore tried to draw more emotion from the viewer, but all the meshing of the black and white only ruins this attempt. "Cold Rage" was extremely bland and insipid thanks to it's lack of anything except the character and it's lack of color. This is now bland and insipid because of just it's lack of color. I'll credit you for moving one step forward, but point out that you need to move one more. Could have been a lot better in the end, and essentially the on word that describes the wallpaper is: "potential" as in this had the potential to be decent, but is not."

Lovely Creature!!

"The problem I have with this wallpaper is the coloring. The absolutely over-the-top amounts of pink would have been fine for just the background, but with the character also that same shade, it only hurts your focal point, which is it, and in turns makes something unpleasant to look at. The character seems to mesh into the screen, which makes the focal point (the first thing the user looks at and draws his/her attention the most) is the text, which is something that should never be so. Then the viewer has to search for the character in the wallpaper and draw his outlining shape with his eye. The problem here is that the viewer should never have to search for and outline the characters you put in a wallpaper, and in having them do so, the point that you try to make as an artist, or any emotion that you try to draw from the viewer fails, besides maybe getting them a little frustrated. In the end this is not an enjoyable wallpaper to view, and therefore, at least I think, it needs a revision."

SCIENCE!

"This wallpapers pretty decent. It's not the best, but it's certainly better than most and that's worth something. The main problem I have coming into the review of this is the white on white on the left side. If the characters lab coat is white, then I really don't like the white background, since I'd normally think you'd need something to offset that almost bleach white. However, the vibrant coloring on the right side and actually really well placed text helps make up for it and does most of the offsetting. The characters hair matching the style of the coloring only helps compliment her, which is surely a good thing for the focal point of the wallpaper. Overall I like this. Is it enough +Fav? I would say no after a little bit of thinking, but it's enough to give you the good old thumbs up. Good work."

"I recommend we stop giving this wallpaper way more credit than it deserves. You need to do a really better job in making a wallpaper. Remember that they paint scenes, not characters. The focal point is complimented by nothing, since the background is horribly simple, and text looks ugly, and well the character looks like I cut out the page from the manga and used SchoolGlue to put it on. To me, I look at this and I say: Open Photoshop, Outline Alucard, Cut-Out Outline, Copy Cut-Out Image, Open MS Paint, Paint Background All Black, Draw Two Rectangles, Paint Rectangles White, Paste Cut-Out Image, Make Text Box, Select Font, Select Color, Type First Two Lines, Tab Twice, Type Third Line, Add Effect to Text Box, Select Blood, BAM Wallpaper done. My point in all of that? It's way too simple. You can do a hell of a lot more with this, so that's what I'd suggest."

"A pretty bad wallpaper in general. The problem is the fact that the characters faces look so bleached they become too un-realistic, and the background does nothing to compliment the scene, partly because there is none. All of the best wallpapers paint a scene, a story in which the wallpaper is telling, but this one fails to do that, in fact it hardly even tries. That's pretty much been the story for this whole "A-Z scan" to begin with, and it's starting to annoy. The problem is over-simplistic walls with out-of-place characters in non-existent scenery given over-the-top close ups to suck up room that would require any kind of scenic background, thus making the wallpapers go from a 36 hour job to a 6 hour job. You need to spend more time and work on this, because this wallpaper is horrible. You're painting a scene, not running a marathon, remember that."

green c.c

"There's a lot of problems with this wall in it's current state. First, the trickling lettering from The Matrix, a very dry and unoriginal idea. Second, don't bring them over top of your character. You cannot blur C.C. if your focal point is going to be C.C., which in its current state it is. Make sure C.C. is fully distinguishable and that she stands out more than the trickling words. Third, the words look flat out awful. They're in a terrible font, terrible tone of color, terrible writing, just terrible in all, and in need of an immediate fix. Fourth, vector the character, because the quality of C.C. right now is very very poor. Fifth, add something. Even if you fix the aforementioned four problems, the wallpaper is still bland. Very bland, and that's something you have to change. You've got a lot of work ahead of you, so get to it. Good luck."

DON'T WATCH IT! READ THE MANGA. HUGE DIFFERENCE.

Please do not talk about the anime/manga here. This is about the wallpaper, so talk about the wallpaper please. If you want to please go to the forums and start a thread about the wallpaper there.

Now as for the wallpaper. When I first saw this the first words almost autonomously out of my mouth were: "nope, not going to cut it". As I've said time and time again, simple wallpapers can be a good concept, but simplicity needs to be done with an attitude of not "less is more" but more "how can I bring life to the smallest of things". The glowing skate with the very very unoriginal black background is more of the former than the latter, and therefore the wallpaper suffers. Sure the black makes the focal point stand out more, but it doesn't necessarily compliment it, and that only works to hurt the focal point in the end. However, the focal point is already hurt by the problem of just being pasted into the scene with nothing else, and so while there is just the skate, there is no wallpaper. Therefore I would say that this wallpaper fails in anything it is trying to do, thus making it something not that enjoyable to look at."

Cold Rage

"First I'm going to begin by saying something I need to get off my chest because I'm fed up with the quality of wallpapers on AP recently: An A+? Are you serious?

Now to actually give you decent words for thought. First off this wallpaper is not very good at one, one of the poorer ones I've seen in a while. The problem is that there's only one thing in the scene. Now simple wallpapers can be a wonderful thing, don't get me wrong, but most of them tend to have complimenting text, or a background that adds to the scene and tone, or multiple characters. This is just one character, nothing else. If I wanted to look at that, I'd google the anime and look for the character. Second, there's not color, or barely any. A two color wallpaper is very hard to pull off, incredibly hard. I'll admit that much, but white, black and every tone in between is not the best choice. If I wanted that kind of contrast I'll click on properties in my desktop. Now, having said that the focal point is not complimented on this two-color scheme, hence further lowering the quality of the wall. The black and white makes it look unattractive in nature. Then there's the fact I see no "rage" at all in this wallpaper, therefore relating nothing to the title. This lacking relationship makes your message of the wallpaper become diluted in the gray used, and therefore the wallpaper in general just all around falls short of everything it attempts to accomplish. Not very good in general I'm afraid."

L's faces

"The concept is not very good, but you're making a mistake a lot of rookies seem to. Collages are not good wallpapers. Now this is not to say they can't be done, but probably 90% of them do not make good walls. The problem with this wall is just that, a giant letter and a simple collages of faces, a simple cut and past job and coloring with black and white. Not ground-breaking, not top of the line, not anything spectacular. This sort of tone will not make a good wall, or produce one that even shows up in the gallery to being with. Therefore, I suggest going back to the drawing board, because in this state, this wallpaper is not good in any aspect."

Run, like Wind!

"This is a good wallpaper. The bright colors work decently here, and while it could be faulted for being overly bright it does not break the cardinal sin of being so bright the focal point becomes indistinguishable or too bright that the colors mesh into each other, so the bright coloring is functional in every way. The focal point's location is a little odd, since the default position for desktop icons are on the left thus covering your focal point, but if your desktop is like mine where it's in the taskbar and not on the screen, then it doesn't matter in the end anyway. Overall I like this wallpaper, and you did a great job here. It's not enough for me to +Fav it, but it's certainly enough to give it my nod of approval and to use in teaching the new kids on what to take notes from."

"Well it's about freakin time someone did a Rumble Roses wallpaper. I've been waiting for once ever since I bought the 2nd game and won the title with everyone. Now, as for the wallpaper itself, it's pretty good. A two color scheme is very hard to pull off, but you stay very true to the cause and it works. There's a great lay-out of Reiko and the rest of the wallpaper, and for the most part the wallpaper's focal point of Reiko is well defined. Great title choice and bam! +Fav."

The Voice That I Heard Is No More

"It's was too simple. A lot of work go into wallpapers, and this over-simplicity makes the work put into it slightly skeptical. I'm basically looking at white here, and not much otherwise, which is fine if I'm staring into my newly painted walls, but for my desktop, it's unacceptable. with a wallpaper this simple too it does two things that ultimately defeat it for me. First, it makes the focal point a battle between what little there is and the over-flowing white, and second, it describes to me no relation between the wallpaper and the title. This is one I really do not like, I'm sorry."

"This is a very good wallpaper. The theme is consistent through out, and the background uses a very nice tone of light coloring to really help complement the chibi and very lax style of the characters. The characters are well vectored and everything fits into the scene very nicely. You know if you wanted to do a simple wallpaper, then I'd take notes from this one. Well done sir."

"I find this very hard to look at. The yellow just meshes everywhere and blooms into the viewer's face too much. Then there's the fact that it makes the characters less distinguishable, thus degrading from the focal point of the wallpaper. The black background does not help, as it only serves to add to the contrasting bloom and make the picture look like a giant bucket of yellow paint was spilled onto the wallpaper. I would suggest cleaning it up a bit. Work on vectoring the characters more if you haven't already, and make the color a little more simmer than the yellow you have now. Then add a background and we can take it from there."

"I do not particularly like this wallpaper. The problem first begins with a white background, which is almost never a pretty thing to look at when on your desktop. The colors are was too vibrant, and almost drown out the distinction of Link's dress and figure, which only helps to take more away from the wallpaper. Third, the focal point is not necessarily appealing, and so the viewer can be repelled by it. Finally, fourth, I don't think the copy and paste with different colors style works. I'll commemorate you for trying something new, but with this wallpaper it just looks ugly. Here's to a better wallpaper in the future."
