As an animation, Bakemonogatari has a simple, clean art style. But the guest illustrations for the series are anything but simple! So, it's great to see that °Tens took on a more complex illustration and made it his own with vector gradients so fine at points it more resembles painting that vectoring. Do have a look at this beautiful wallpaper!
"I like this wallpaper. The color scheme is good, and the concept of the kinda retro, 1970-ish theme works well and plays more into Lupin considering when the anime was made. It was a good idea to fade the rainbow somewhat while over Lupin so that he is not obstructed as a vocal point and the rainbow maintains the course and helps continue to set the theme. Add in the good background and you have a good wallpaper here. Not enough for a +Fav, but enough for me to give you a nod of approval." View

The wallpaper needs to show an image that invokes an emotion into the viewer and this fails to do that. "A B+? Wow, I am surprised, because I think this is really really way way too simple. This is not what I want as a wallpaper, and surely I don't see how anyone can (no offense). I mean there's two things here, the vectored character and the brown. That's it. That's not that hard. If I learned to vector and then made walls like this I could collect papers and B+s all day. The point I'm trying to make is that the wallpaper is missing something, everything really. It's way to simple for me to call it a wallpaper. Simplicity is nice, like in say the wallpaper "SCAPE" but if I were making the vector I would have saved my time in making my background brown and would have just submitted the vector as a scan, because to me that's where it belongs. You have a great idea in wanting to be simple, but there's just way way way to much room you could have worked with here, and as this is now, I'm labeling it as a scan personally more than a wallpaper." "I actually really do not like this wallpaper. The sun being that strong and bright completely defeats the wallpaper, because it shifts the focal point onto it and not the character, which is a huge problem. There is a fight for the focal point and that is not something you want. Then there's the fact that for a scene in which you are trying to paint, the coloring is lacking. Red, Black, White, Brown, those are the colors I see used here, but a lot of the Black and almost all of the Brown are completely engulfed in the blurring brightness. A wallpaper shouldn't blur like this, and then the red I mentioned is hardly there because of the fact that it is blood, which is ok, but there's three colors ultimately trying to come onto the scene that are forced to fight with the sun. I can see where the concept is going, but ultimately it's overdone and the wallpaper looks atrocious because of it." View

While I will give you credit for going out of your way and trying to make something original, there can be times when wallpapers are overly simplistic and here is one of the rare cases. It's just too incomplete to me, and I think that there was a lot of more space that you could have used in this that goes unjustly untouched. "First off, it's spelled Heroes not Heros. Secondly, I'm surprised at the feedback because I think this wallpaper looks bad. Now let me qualify myself first, before I start a fanboy flame war. The wallpaper just has too much text stuffed in all the nooks and cranies, and I think this is something that really degrades from the wallpaper's style, because I put a wallpaper on my desktop to look out and not to read, so the fact that there is so much text all over the place makes it seem a little schizophrenic and cluttered. Third, the characters are shaded with two colors: black and white, and while there is nothing against using these too colors, they need to be used in moderation, for an entire wallpaper like this with it just makes the colors mesh into the point where they become incoherent and indistinguishable for me (i.e. where is snake's left side of his face?) Then I remember that this is a tablet sketch, which I give you full credit for, because for what you did it is amazing, but in bringing it over to photoshop and the other tools at your use, you shouldn't be afraid to add some color, especially if a lot of the shading is going to fight with the character outlines for supremacy like with snake's face, which tends to be the focal point, and when the focal point is confusing and displeasing to look at the wallpaper losses credibility. This is also where the words in the background fight with snake because a sketch with a load of words, which inevitably are covered up or at least cut off by his head essentially defeat the purpose of them. The words just take away from the sketch in that the sketch style and then the very acute lettering fight because of their differences like the French and English in the 15th century. So what am I trying to say in conclusion? Well to sum it all up I think the wallpaper is bad. The random blobs of shading which I presume to be blood, meshed with the shading and outlined characters in the two generic colors of black and white where the only diversity is in the tone of the black used make for something that seems like pencil meshed all across my screen in the end, which does not make something enjoyable for me to look at. I'm sure others will disagree and that's fine, but these are my takes on it. I commend you a lot for a great sketch, but the absence of color really defeats it as a wallpaper, because a color-less sketch is fine for something like Deviant Art, but on my desktop I do not particularly take a liking to it." "Awesome wallpaper for the love of baseball. I never head of this series and now that I've seen this +Faved wall, I went over the BoxTorrents to pick it up. Gonna watch it after I find the courage to finish Aika (on ep 6/7) and find the time and guts to try and painfully finish Code Geass (ep 9/25). It's definately the next series I will start, probably followed by Kaleido Star. Anywho, the wallpaper, well it's nice and I love the old photo look. Now when I look at the original scan I can only agree on how it screams of the nostalgia used here.
