I am missing the connection between the character and the background.
It makes no sense..

So is she walking in space?
Where is the light source ?

So that leaves ...
Well nice character selection, extraction of the hair could be more fluent .. (polygonal lasso ... is okay but master the pentool... )
Outline could be more consistent ... might want to match the glow with the background.

The background itself is nice and spacey.."

You could have added a little more texture (grunge) in the background so you wouldn't have to resort to aaargh .. ghosting (duplicating the characters, enlarging it, and lowering the opacity)

If you want to get serious in creating wallpapers do not resort to ghosting...

Resolution is just too low.
Lacks contrast / looks washed out.

It might work for a layout but not true wallpaper material I'm afraid.

I wonder how it would have looked if you started out with the intent to create a wallpaper.
