I really liked the way you reflected Johan's soul in your wallaper. It does have essence!
That's the most important, so, my congratulations on that! :3

I liked the idea of a photo to ilustrate a portrait. I liked the idea of sad, dark textures all over the area we saw. Loved how you made Johan appear "entire" in a diagonally oriented frame left in a dead ambient.
Much more creative than mine, by the way. :)

In spite of coherent, we have a dull colorscheme here.
The almost unanimated, empty feeling really pleases me, but some more graphical intensity would make this wallpaper more captivating and eye-catching, I think.
The use of resources is ok, but I feel like it's missing more substance, more intensity, again - color, shadows...
Johan's face completing is fine, you made a good job, I limited myself in maintaining the crop Johan already had in the scan... However, his face is not symmetrical, and that hurts the wallpaper.

Loved the textures in the girl's shirt. Loved the contrast established between lively, warm colors and those more cold. Also, the idea - simple things taste better. You couldn't find a better tittle...
As a suggestion, maybe a little richer background could result in a better feeling to the composition - my eyes were thinking about some orange tones. But nothing serious. :P
I also would use another font, not that slim, unrouded one...

The vector... The vector is TOP great!
I imagine how hard was to vector an image like this one... But you did it perfectly, I dare say. (And it's one of the most "expensive" of the gallery! haha!)
The colorscheme is very pleasant as well. The composition is simple, but it works and looks pretty, indeed.
I liked the tittle as well! ;}
Now about some less good points... I suppose this section may annoy you a little, but I believe that knowing about the two sides of the coin is still the best option... At least, I speak for myself. ;)
It's about the textures you used - I'm not saying they are bad, but I would rather prefer another way of texturizing - or even no textures at all. I mean, your vector is so clean, so greatly coloured and accurate, and the textures turn it off a little... Besides, in the legs area there are a high and, at my eyes, unnecessary and too notorious amount of textures.
Finally, I must say a strong magenta element at the right bottom looks totally very well, it balances and "fills" the composition. However, it needed, IMO, to be a something like a defined element - a flower petal, or something "more revolucionary" (less typical). :D
As I say sometimes when I like a wallpaper but completely love the vector: I would like to see another wallpaper with this same vector.!

That's always so great to realise about a "before" and "after" - I mean, how to turn a problematic scan in a beautiful wallpapper.
The background suits her very well. Simple, yet effective - the girl need an "angelic" scene, where she could be the "queen"...
Clouds (specially at the bottom zone) and moon - loved them. The aesthetics of the text - is really nice, it easily caught my attention - hmm, I give extreme importance to a correct, pleasant text beauty and blending in a wallpaper... ;) I liked the color scheme as well.
However, I think the use of the star brushes (and some of the clouds) could be better (more detailed stars? More well distributed?). And I think the girl has too many shinning points over her (more than in the background)... But that's all. The global view is totally pleasant at my eyes.

If a work obtains wide visibility, it certainly means it's good - at least, for a wide range of tastes/opinions.
Personal satisfaction. And it shall attends, at least partially, to the "acception" a work gets from the "public" - that's what being an artist means...
So, I understand your "worryings" pretty well, I felt - and feel! - the same way.
One have to grow and take our time in doing so, if one really thinks achieving something (really) matters, that's the point. So annoying, we all already know it... :S
However, we must to give our best to ourselves, in the first place. And that is what will make us more satisfied. And I felt you are happy with this result, that's great. And also, there will always be people who admire your work, what justifies the effort spent on it... :)
Waiting for a big acception it's not the healtiest way of dealing with this, I'd say, in spite of thinking in a very close way...
Anyway, why didn't this wallpaper achieve a big amount of popularity...?

I agree that the black for the "Sailor Moon" is a bad choice... Try anything lighter.
Besides, I'd decrease the size of your signature - maybe, the color, ob«nce again.
Lastly, remmember that a desktop usually shows a bottom bar, wich means the feet of girls would not be seen, it's such a waste! So, positionating the figures a little above may be a good idea...

I agree that the black for the "Sailor Moon" is a bad choice... Try anything lighter.
Besides, I'd decrease the size of your signature - maybe, the color, ob«nce again.
Lastly, remmember that a desktop usually shows a bottom bar, wich means the feet of girls would not be seen, it's such a waste! So, positionating the figures a little above may be a good idea...
