After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

Topless Modeling Session with Sasara?!

"Great thesis as a prelude to your wallpaper! Certainly the discussion of the fixation men have for female mammaries is something that you've thought about (as have many other men, myself included) throughly, haha!

Before I talk about your wall, I'd just like to state that this isn't something I'd personally use on my screen, just a tad bit risque, no offense though!

Anyway, this is certainly a well constructed piece. Though you mentioned that the extraction is rough, I personally don't see any major flaws. The blending is good and the lighting, while bright, seems natural enough.

Great wallpaper overall, after your Feist wallpaper, this makes 2 favorites from you in the same week, kudos and thank you for the wallpaper!"

"Sorry for wall of text, haha!

When the creator himself has little pride in his work, it's hard for the end-user (ie "us") to really get excited for a particular piece.

That aside, on a personal level I don't necessarily think this is a below par. Sure the scan could have used some cleaning or perhaps even a vector as you suggested (it is a little fuzzy), but everything else is farily solid stuff.

You should feel particularly proud of your clouds, they are extremely well-done, great smudging, colors and shape make them quite visually pleasing. In fact, the entire backdrop looks fantastic; you certainly know how to create a scene and the accompanying mood.

Overall though, great job! If you decided to tidy up the scan a bit it would certainly be a fantastic piece, more so than it already is. No complaints though, this is something I can use on my desktop! +Favorite"

"This is a pretty fantastic wallpaper. The vector job is probably the most striking feature of this particular piece. I love the hair and the other texture-less features which seemlessly blend with the textured elements, such as his neck and the striped background, and at the same time manage to create good levels of contrast between the foreground and the background of the wall.

The style and technique which you employed to create the facial shading on Spike is no less than phenominal. The various shades of blues, blacks and greys provided a clever and expressive way to portray the subject.

Overall, spot-on wallpaper, definately a favorite from me! Thank you for your work and for the image itself!"

"Hahah! Wow, this wallpaper is really quite awesome in its originality! The vector itself is faithful to the original scan and is done skillfully and is very clean in execution, though the "Eva 01" badge on the arm seems a little off.

The guitar you made fits pretty seemless with the pose which in the original scan looks as if Unit 01 was meant to be holding a guitar rather than a rifle (the way the fingers are holding the barrel resembles the way a guitarist holds his fretboard).

The background is a little plain (perhaps some more "grunge" would have benefited?), but it helps with the theme you were going for. Overall, you managed to create an awesome and fun wallpaper. Thank you!

[SOUL CALIBUR IV] Cassandra Alexandra

"I really like this piece. You've certainly done a great job getting the image of Cassandra to complement the background, really, the amount of tweaking to the color is well done.

Is the background from stock images, created from scratch, or a combination of both? In any case, it adds enough visual flare to the overall wallpaper which can be hard working with videogame themed walls (I sadly know this firsthand). The additional fog effects are also nicely done. +Favorite

On a side note, this wallpaper and all the other promotional art / screenshots of Soul Calibur 4 confirm my thoughts that the female's are getting bossom enhancements (have you seen Ivy?!) along with the graphical improvements that the next-gen systems are bringing to the table, haha!"

"Hey, this is a damn cool concept; the synergy between album art and anime influence is fairly unique in design and execution. It's easy to draw parallels (which is a good thing) to MinstrelKnight's "Wish You Were Here" Death Note wallpaper in terms of remaining faithful to the source material while infusing your own anime influences and additional effects.

Unlike the album art, I'm glad that you decided to keep all the features of the character rather than a complete silhouette. The colors, while a minority to the dominant blacks and whites, are vibrant, I especially like the coloring of her visible eye!

Excellent wallpaper overall, thank you for your work and for the wallpaper especially all the different versions and resolutions. You certainly deserve a favorite!"

Innocence...~

"I really dig how clean this particular wallpaper is. Everything, from the character vector, to the sheet of notebook paper, orbs and ruler (or is it a football field?) are all smooth with no aliasing/artifacting issues what so ever.

The character vector is probably the most impressive feature of your wallpaper. Great line variation and the color, while I think some of the shadowing is off (wouldn't his right arm cast a shadow over the right side of his torso?), is very crisp and done well.

The simple background is also something I favor because it allows me to use icons without interfering with a heavy backdrop. One thing I noticed was the ruler/football field you used. I'm not too sure which it is, but if it is in fact a football field there are some refinements you could do to make it more authenthic i.e. no negative yard markers and they would be off to the side rather than down the middle.

Cool wall though, thanks for it and your work!"

"An eureka seveN wallpaper that also happens to have a very modern/pop-art style to it, how could I lose?

Haha, seriously though, this is a great wallpaper. The frayed and worn photo you used for the edges are a nice touch, especially given the character portrayed. The vector is very clean skillfully done. Additionally, the textual elements are used quite effectively in complimenting your style and theme of the wallpaper. I also dig the retro-esque red, orange, yellow color band and the flowers. Thanks for the widescreen too!

Thank you! Certainly you've created something special here and your efforts are appreciated! Definately a favorite."

"Fantastic, what more can I really say besides that? Even now with our fascination with vector and CG created art, it is always quite refreshing to see painstakingly hand-crafted pieces surfacing now and then.

It's simply all the little things that make me smile viewing this: the small details, such as the window shutters and assorted pieces of furniture within each dwelling, the street car in the lower corner, the signs and advertisements all make the image appear "alive". In additional, the warm colors and the care-free attitude of the scene depicted are very fun and refreshing.

Certainly you've created something to be proud of! Thank you for the fantastic wallpaper and for your work! Definately a favorite!

P.S. Any chance of a 1680x1050 or 1920x1200 resolution? Heheh :)"

"That is truly sad news indeed, any passing away of a loved one is hard to bare.

Truly beautiful wallpaper and a fitting memorial. Great colors, texturing, and vectoring, a trifecta of sorts. I particularly like how vivid the colors are which contrast very nicely with the black background. The little neon hearts and other various elements are a visual feast and very pleasing to the eyes. The vector of Rukia is truly complimented by the theme and concept of this wallpaper.

Thank you for your your efforts and for the wallpaper, certainly worth a favorite!

"Yo, certainly looks good for vectored screen-caps! The colors on the character are impressive and highly detailed, especially with the scorchings and dirt markings. The foreground rocks look great and really give the illusion of movement within the wallpaper.

The background traces look quite clean and sharp with good colors and texturing. Though I think that the motion lines you used are a little heavy, not to the point of being overly detracting, but less would have been more pleasing to me.

Overall though, great work. Thank you for your effort and for the wallpaper!

"That is a pretty darn sweet concept for your wallpaper; I really dig it. Your wallpaper manages to envoke warm feelings, nostalgic feelings with the beige that dominates this wallpaper. Normally, such an overwhelming dominance of one color would be a detriment to a wallpaper, but this is certainly an exception and I feel the colors are executed perfectly. Now while the beige and greens are nostalgic, the blues give ambivalence to the piece giving a contrasting sad/emotional tone.

The red of the phone booth is skillfully vectored, colored and placed resulting in good composition and contrast. Additionally, the water color look seems visually authenthic and gives good texture to your wall.

Fantastic wallpaper (I'm not even an SM fan and I can still get into this!), gonna favorite this!

P.S. You aren't bad at vectoring, not at all! I failed horribly at my feeble attempt to vector, but this is certainly something else!"

"This is certainly a wonderful piece of eye-candy that you managed to craft here! The theme/design you decided upon for this piece isn't new on the wallpaper scene. Indeed the retro and/or pop art styles are present in many of the wallpapers here on AP today.

But that does not mean to say this wallpaper is easily overlooked, not at all. First, the direction you took with the palatte is extremely vivid and colorful and the texture work along the "rainbow" is very appealing. The girl is skillfully vectored with smooth, clean lines and great detail (i.e. the pleats on the skirt and the dress design are especially well done). Additionally, the clouds are a nice touch, very fitting for your theme.

Overall, spectacular wallpaper. You've created an aesthetically pleasing wallpaper with enough space for desktop icons; I'm totally in love with your design direction, thanks!

Number of favorites +1.

P.S. Extra bonus for Asian Kung-Fu Generation and for widescreen!

"The concept you decided to work around is good. I like the idea of focusing a particular character with a matching background. Your vectors of the three characters show promise and, for the most part, are done fairly good. There are some rough spots, such as some of the shadows, which seem very blocky and sharp and on Fuu's ponytail.

I have also noticed that there are some artifacting issues (at least with the 1680 x 1050 version which I'm reviewing) in and around the characters, between the background and the characters and also surrounding the letters on the right side of the wallpaper. And from a personal matter of taste, I feel that maybe more texture elements could have been used to give the background more substance.

Good wallpaper overall though and thank you for your work on this piece!"

"Decent wallpaper you've managed to make here! I'm particularly impressed with the character scan extraction you did, very clean along the outline. Additionally the elements you created from stractch are pretty good as well, especially the pole which is quite detailed.

While the character scan was extracted skillfully, I cannot help but get the feeling that the character seems very flat and doesn't fit into the perspective well. Though I'm all sure we see things from different perspectives, those aforementioned are just my personal thoughts.

Thanks for putting the effort into making this wallpaper!"

The Thing That Should Not Be

"I know I'll admit that I'm a big fan of anything urban or hip-hop themed. This is certainly no exception. Right off the bat, I'd like to compliment you on the vector of Shinji. The lines are very sharp and clean, definately showing some skill there. Good use of a texture on his shirt as it gives contrast between his face and body.

One method you could have done was to involve more colors in the background. Now I know that by keeping things blue and white you manage a solid color scheme, but additional color wouldn't hurt this piece by my standards.

Additionally, the lettering that spells "Shinji" seems to stand out a little, breaking the impression that it's graffittied onto the wall.

Overall though, nice wallpaper. Thanks for your effort!"

"I'll admit, I can't readily rank myself as a Naruto fan, but I cannot deny your ability to craft great-looking wallpapers from the source material. I wish you would have provided a scan for comparative purposes as it would stand testament to your skill.

Besides the terrific coloring job you did, the various visual effects you employed were the most eye-catching. The rain effects almost give the illusion of motion they're done so well. Also good is the shine of the character's shades.

One thing that could be improved would be to perhaps expand on the background some more; doing a black and white reflection to fill up some of the space was a good idea (too much empty black space would have been a detriment), but I'm sure there could have been more creative ways to go about filling up the area.

A great looking piece that could be better with some fine-tuning. Oh and congrats on your highlight!"

"Haha! The thing that caught my eye from the thumbnail was that you didn't bother to vector her trademark hot pants! Anyway, what can I say about this simplistic wall?

Normally, I'm not a big fan of large, unclaimed space in wallpapers. But more and more I'm beginning to realize that many people enjoy more minimalistic wallpapers with plenty of real estate for icons and other stuff they like on their desktops. And this certainly fits that bill.

The vector itself is particularly stylish and very in-tune with the default KDE wallpapers, though it is somewhat rough; notably on her waist and butt. But the tattoo and facial expression are good.

Overall good wallpaper if you're looking for something minimal and unobtrusive, some rough spots hinder the wallpaper, but not to a very high degree. Thanks!"

"First off, I have to say that the character vector is, for the most part, top-notch. Certainly there are minor imperfections, but generally speaking, the lines are sharp and clean and the coloring job is vivid and, quite simply, amazing.

But while the vector does much to heighten the quality of your submission, the background certainly has room for improvement. Take for instance the ground, while there is some decent coloring and shadowing present, it generally appears flat and thus, less dynamic. Additionally, the clouds (or are they mountains?) on the horizon and at the very top of the wall seem like an indeterminite stretch of color (Though I understand perhaps that was the style you were looking to achieve and in that case, disregard the personal tastes of this particular reviewer!). Alternately, I do find the fluffy look of the clouds below and around the sun to be quite visually pleasing.

Overall, a good wallpaper. The trace you did of the girl is simply fantastic. Thanks for the wall!"

"Hey!
This wallpaper is crazy stylish! I'm particularly fond of the color sheme you decided upon for this wallpaper, warm, vibrant and very urban-esque. Certainly the coloring gives that modern look you were shooting for. The background gradiant is very asthetically pleasing to the eyes. I also notice that there is only one dominating texture over the whole piece; those diagonal lines are so simple, yet it gives your wallpaper significant depth and unity.

The vector of the girl itself is impressive, very clean lines, good detail and shadows and great coloring again make a truly visually appealing piece.

Awesome wallpaper overall. Thanks for your work and effort. I only wish this came in a larger, widescreen resolution so it could be more fitting for my screen.

"The thing I like the most about this wallpaper is the warm color tones you decided to use. Truly it does much to stir the emtions when looking at pieces such as this (more so especially since it reminds me so vividly about the series). Certianly, you managed to capture the emtions of that poignant final scene in FLCL.

The various details, such as the debris and dust falling through the scene and the buildings all put a nice touch on the image.

There does seem to be a little blurring present in the image, but it's probably intentional given the scene dipicted. Also, the silloute of Naota seems a little mishapen. Though that could just be a personal taste.

Overall, good wallpaper! Thanks for your work and the wallpaper!"

"Hey, that's pretty good! I'm throughly impressed that you managed to turn that tiny screen capture into a surprisingly clean vector of Eureka for your wallpaper. Your choice of warm, pastel colors was a good one, I think, and certainly helps in creating the playful mood and tone of your wallpaper (certainly a departure of the scene you took the scan from!). The background also contributes to this and to the theme of the show, the open sky is certainly one of the many motifs that eureka seveN has.

Additionally, the skyfish are authentically done in relation to the show.

Although there are a few issues with aliasing and artifacting in the wallpaper, it's nothing too detracting from the wallpaper overall. It also would have been nice to have this in a larger resolution (and widescreen!) to better accomodate my display. But that's more of a personal thing that any detriment to your wallpaper.

Anyway, thanks for your work and the wallpaper! Certainly a favorite."

"Cool stuff ya got here! I have this little theory in my mind about Samurai Champloo wallpapers and those who wall them: generally speaking, the wallpapers themselves are stylishly done in the same vein as the anime and the wallers themselves have excellent taste and skill.

This is no exception. One of the elements that really stands out is the great interplay between red and blue/Mugen and Jinn. The character vectors are impressive as well. The lines are varied and clean and the coloring job is fantastic. The background also leaves little to be desired as well. Simple, but with the mountains, valleys and buildings it is certainly very far from plain. The various splashes (are they paint or blood? Either way, they equally go hand in hand with the series) further add a nice touch.

My only complaint (if it really could be deemed a complaint) is that it doesn't come in a widescreen resolution or a resoultion that could be eaisly cropped to fit my screen. No big issue though!

Thanks for the wall!"

Motoko: AFFECTION

2 years 4 months ago

"Certainly this is something else! Typically when a wallpaper is dominated so obviously by one color undoubtedly the image leaves much to be desired. This however, is a surprising exception!

The vector of Motoko is masterfully done. The shadows, with their particular coloring scheme of various shades of blue give this minimalist piece fantastic depth and a unified look. The details, while ceratinly the miniority of this piece in relation to the black, are exceptionally done, notably the paper crane, her gloves/fingers and most striking to me, Motoko's eyes.

The only issue I have with the quality of your wallpaper are some artifacting issues around the hair and hand areas, which aren't overly obvious, but become more visible upon closer inspection. It's only a minor gripe though and I'm not trying to downplay this wallpaper in any fashion, I just thought you'd like to know.

Certainly you've managed to capture Motoko's character from the Stand Alone Complex series, the sensitive side that usually takes a backseat to the commanding exterior that she normally displays.

Great wallpaper, thanks for your efforts!

Death Note: Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here

"As a Pink Floyd fan and general classic rock aficionado I have to say with honesty that this wallpaper caught my eye almost instantaneously while it was cycling through the various random wallpapers on the homepage.

Anyway, about the wallpaper itself, I'm particularly impressed at how well you were able to recreate the "Wish You Were Here" album cover with Death Note characters and still manage to remain faithful to the original (didn't miss the burnt portion on the upper right either!). Certainly you had a keen eye for finding that particular Death Note scan! The background textures are subtle, but give good detail to the ground and the various studios in the backdrop; which by the way are very clean and again remarkable in the depiction of the album art (great vectors!)

Lastly, the character vectors themselves were certainly drawn with skill, more so impressive given the quality of the manga scan from which they were pulled from. Good coloring and effects (the flames look great).

Thanks for the wall, it's certainly deserving of a favorite!"
