This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.

While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

Full Metal Valentine

"I thought fan art was prohibited. I guess you really do have to be in the circle of power to get away with this. That, or a paper count so enormous that the penalty is negligible.

In any case, it is job well done. I think you should have added a more holiday appropriate design for a wallpaper behind them; it looks pretty bland in just that one pale color."

We believe.

"This is RAW! I love the "old photo" scheme because it's quite reminiscent of the series and The characters are perfectly set in that atmosphere of doubt and uncertainty we all identify strongly with. Functionally, the space on the left is perfect for my icons!
Thanks for sharing!"

"Spike Spiegal, my hero! This guy is so dope it's not even funny (well, maybe to Spike it is).
There is some really great depth in this wall and the blur you put on the gun was a wise decision. The only thing is, I don't think I'll be having this at full stretch because it feels more like a picture than a wall. I mean, it's way too simple and grungy for me to be a full-time wallpaper."

Oh God, Yoko is...

"One of my favorite scans of all time!
You took good care of it and I enjoy all the flames and frills you've got going in the background. The color scheme works perfectly!
My only grievance is that the words too scratchy; I can lessen them for myself but thought I should just put that out there."

Yoko

"The closest rock is a sore eyesight but everything else is perfect for my taste.
The vector is lacking a tiny bit but that's overseeable and the sky looks typical but adequate. As it is with most people, the lighting is very pleasing to me and I dig the "closing day" feel to it. After a long day of studying or work, it's a comfort to see my sunset babe welcoming me home."

Sit and Relax

"Your Yoko vector is AWESOME!
I thought it was a scan! Her look is very, very soft and supple almost like you did it with watercolors; I just love it!
I give you lots of respect for originality, but there are still lots of flaws, some big some small, I think you could fix with a bit of work; I don't know how much you (dis)like returning to old walls, but I really think you could make this one like new again.

Starting from Yoko, the only thing I could ever really ask for is more detail on the gun, like make it's edges sharper and it's body more detailed. Right now, it looks sort of like a plastic toy and Yoko is a huntress that uses a real man's gun; it' s important to capture that aspect of her character!
Also, i think the wall's better off without the lens flare reflection circles you used on the right, on top of Yoko. I think it takes away from the beauty of your Yoko vector.

I'm sorry, but I'm not feeling the sky at all. It looks like a crudely pieced collage of sky patches. I also question the sun's placement and it's look. I think it'd be better to just start this one all over.

I like the stylized lines you used for the ground but you have to make the piece as a whole work more together than letting it compete for attention separately.
Someone mentioned the ground and I didn't notice it until I really looked and it seems that the problem is lack of depth. I was going to mention the perspective at which Yoko is being viewed (from above) as not making sense until I saw closely the ledge she was sitting on.
There are some ways you could go about adding more depth:
-More color contrast. Either heavier colors/shades/tints (just enough) on the ledge or brighter colors/shades/tints on the ground...or both. Adding contrast in one of these ways would separate foreground and midground more.
- More detail contrast. I'm not saying you have to add a flower bed behind Yoko but adding little rocks, pebbles, and other things you can imagine from the show would certainly add another level to your composition.

Anyway, I really hope you'll take my criticism contstructively because your Yoko vector made me type all of that. Yes, it is that great and when you have a subject worthy of remaking the sky itself for, you know you've got something to run with!"

Gurren Lagann: Run for it!

8 months 1 week ago

"Kvnp, I have a hard time believing you even saw the show because this wall more than captures the feeling of TTGL, it embodies it!

This wall rocks for several reasons:
-The Ganmen backdrop gives a reason for that feeling of chaos and danger. The foreground would just be Gurren running up an eroding cliff without the backdrop.
-I debated with myself about the motion lines, but in the end, I think the wall benefits from their activity. They lead the eyes right to left and create a nice focal point at Simon.
-The breaking ground, Gurren's face, the Ganmen in the back, and the motion lines all work together to convey that sense of immediacy and immanence present in the show.

This wallpaper makes sense for taking a snapshot of that flow that we so strongly identify with as TTGL's...and it is all the much better because of that!"

Crash Into Me

"Masterpiece! And if I ever get bored, I can just switch out the planet to make it seem different! Thanks!

Dang, this is a REALLY great wallpaper, one that I do not hesitate to make my desktop.

What's genius about this wall is that the contrast actually lies most heavily in the background itself and not between foreground (Yoko) and background; our girl is on the left in the cool shadow of the beautiful night.
You need dark and light to make space BGs and this was really a successful one. The scan itself is something awesome so it is good that you made both work together to make both even better. The scan would not be the same without the BG and vice versa.

The detail is enough for me to just listen to music and look at my desktop. Who needs nature? Lol."

The wings are more than appropriate because Yoko is an angel! I hope your guilt will subside when you realize how happy this wall made me. Everything about it is great, the scan, the idea, the colors, it's all good. The colors aren't too intense and that's important for me.
However, I like my walls with a little more embellishment and I think you could have used more "sparkle factor". I love sparkles because it puts you in that "awe" moment you always see in animes when the cute girl next door shows up.
Also, the left side of the background seems less consistent in terms of even color distribution in comparison to the right side. I'm not a freak about symmetry, but it's something to think about. Actually, it works quite well for me right now because of the way my icons are set up...ha ha.

Keep on keepin on my friend! Thanks for the contribution!"

Red Light

"This is a good wallpaper. It would be great if not for the lack of contrast between foreground and background.
If you amped up Yoko's brightness/contrast a bit, I think this would look better. As it is right now, the overall figure's tone (because of Yoko's hair) blends in with the background too much. The black end of the gradient at the top right doesn't do enough...speaking of which, alternatively, you could just make the black end of the gradient larger so Yoko would pop out some more."

The colors you used are vivid and appopriate for this scan. The guns look like guitars and the funkiness is preserved in this concert/club-like atmosphere. I think it's more than 24/7 worthy.
Probably the only thing I could suggest working on is the light coming on top of the barrel on the left. It's kind of blanketed with all of the stuff you grunged it up with. Perhaps if you erased some of the light that lays on the barrel so that there's more depth in this area of the image.
Also, those circles look like red-blood cells. I don't know, it would have been more interesting if you had used a different doodad, i think.

A successful wallpaper imo and one that I will definitely be using. Thanks Almighty! (or do you prefer Baka? or Almighty Baka? or AB? Lol.)"
