"I agree with he comment that you should add more work to this. Thematically the whole thing feels incomplete. It feels like a small part of a larger work. You may have started with a larger scan of which this part was of aesthetic interest, but you need more than a black banner, with text framing the top and bottom to make it complete. As Dorothy Parker put it, "there is just no there there." It would also be nice to add some vibrancy to the color of the scene. The lighting at the top seems to makes the scene appear hazy and poorly illuminated; and this is without regard to the seemingly bright sunlight of the setting." View

"Just a couple of things seem to stand out. The first one is a subjective criticism. The text in the upper right is interfering with the reference to the kiss and romantic relationship in the BG. Is it possible to relocate that text or change it so that it does not obscure what seems like an important reference.
Second, you are going to have to do something about the quality, especially around the hair of Kaname. The color transition in the area of the hair of both characters needs attention, and in full view it is obvious.
One more consideration, that you should not give the same weight as the other two, is I am not impressed by those light colored dots along the bottom. They seem out of context and unnecessary. In the presence of the adored character, sparkly light effects around a character is an anime convention, but just randomly sprinkled along the bottom is out of place." View

"I'm like the others. The image that you have created is an enigma to me, but the abstract nature of it combined with the dictionary definition is so intriguing that I keep exploring it. It is minimalistic and clean. I sincerely like it; I'm just not sure that I understand it enough to explain why. The usual symbols of vanitas are things like skulls (I've seen empty brandy snifters that have toppled and broken with the dregs spilt among the shards).

"Considering the scan that you started with this is some great work, but like Thebob said, it would be nice to add some detail to the chara. Even in the starting scan the form of the chara is odd and looks kind of block shaped. Without a good measure of visible detail the chara becomes little more than a bell shaped arch with an offset rectangle at the top. Continue the wall as you are currently doing, but try to make the chara less of a spectral blob form holding a big gun.
There is one other thing that catches my attention, but it is related to the amount of character detail visible and it may not be relevant after you make the the other suggested corrections." View
