After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

I didn't mean to scare the kiddies away...Com'on, I love kids, have two of them myself (no, I don't)... But that's not the point, the point is that...ok, I lost my thought...
*Taking 2 shots of GlucoLenda (Glucose+Splenda)*
Thanks a lot for the suggestion; her face actually does start bug me quite a lot now the more I stare at it...hum...maybe I should give her a facelift? Ya, plastic surgery does seem to be a nice option...albeit an expensive one...
Kids, go out, find a money tree and fetch me 2 grands...
Anyhow, I'll probably redo her face and her greave after I get that 2 grands, so stay tuned...

Lol...of course not.
This is not supposed to be a faithful replication of the original. For that there is this *thing* called vector...\\
My intent was to do an oil painting based somewhat off the scan, but the scan is kind of messed up, so I played around with different colors and bam! there she is...or was...or will be...
You see, the problem with pentone coated (and burnt sausage) is that the the colors tend to me a lot darker than uncoated (uncooked), and when it comes down to it, I can't just use light colors or else it would appear water-color-ish (and the sausage would look half-cooked).
FYI: Don't eat a sausage half cooked, and if you do, don't forget to peel the skin first...
Oh and that's a seam? OMG...I must be really high (or really perverted) to think so otherwise...So that protruding part is really just an artist's rendition of her greave? Damn, better cover it up before little kids become distraught over the realization of affliction...or maybe I should just *add* a seam to make mine more realistic...hum...
And yeah, this *thing* really doesn't look like Claire at all...I am deeply ashamed and humiliated at my inability to render an accurate and impeccable depiction of her...forgive me Chaire! I meant you no harm...blame the sugar!...Oh, I mean...blame the Splenda!
"Lol...I actually did censor that part, trust me, the original was far worst. My original submission was actually rejected because the lower part of the character showed too much resemblance to those in Hentai games...and in a bad way, too...
Not safe for kids, not safe for kids at all...(although this makes me wonder why violence and blood is okey, but a few flashes of the flesh is considered *evil* and *bad for kids*)... The kids got to learn about it one way or another...whether from a friendly and kind person such as myself, or from some creepy 40 year old who sits in the corner of the bar and stalks little boys...
No matter, I will probably make some revisions once I get over my sugar high...I think this white powder is really affecting my hand-eye coordination...(damn you, Splenda! You don't even *taste* good).
"Nice idea with the silhouette, but did you just stretch a low resolution image to fit the required 1024x768 resolution? Sorry, but the quality is too bad for any improvements.
Try vectoring it...or re-painting it..." View

"OMG! Nooo don't use those so-called "automatic vector generating tools"...the results are usually VERY bad, as in the case with this wall.
Vectorization is one aspect of art that software simply cannot emulate...machines are way more sensitive to color gradiation and change, so when a machine generated vector is perceived by the human eye, is usually looks fake, weird and messy.
Try vectoring yourself, if not, then just use the original scan..." View

"I like your concept, but the scan quality is horrible. There are noticeable jpeg compression artifacts all over the main characters (especially in the hair of the right character), so you might want to do something about that first.
Oh and I think that your BG is way too simple; cloud with gradient overlay is just not going to cut it in my opinion...
Your style of vectoring (with thick, bold lines) really works with me. The art look rather unrefined at the first glance, but when one really look into the art, one can definitely see the detail and the effort put into the making of this wall.
I especially like the hair of the Yellow-haired guy (didn't watch marcross, so I have no idea what his name is), the color combination of bright to musky yellow, in conjunction with the dark, bold and thick lines really makes him stand out from the rest, while at the same time giving the character's hair a 3D feel. Great job on that!
I'm not the one to pass on judgments here, but to me, the overall color balance of the wall is a bit too damped as compared to the original vector. I take that you are trying to convey a sense of happiness in this piece, if so, then you should perhaps consider reflecting that mood with the colors? As it stands right now, the wall seems a bit too dim for my taste, and I feel that the vibrantness (is it a word?) of the original scan is somewhat lost in translation.
Lastly, as for the BG, I feel that it is a bit too bland...It would have been great if you had kept the tiles in the original scan, but oh well...
Great wallpaper overall, but the aforementioned points above prevents me from FAVing this wallpaper. There will definitely be others who love this wall, but for me it somehow just doesn't seem to click..." View

Anyways, nice extraction, change the background to something less dramatic, get rid of the poem and the wall should be a lot better.

"Lol...no offense, but I think the wall would look better if you didn't flip and overlay the image on top of itself...it just adds to the confusion already existent in the original scan.
My suggestion: take out the main characters, find a nice, clean background and put the two in the new bg (maybe a little vectoring as well?)...
Oh, and those *flakes* in the wall, are those supposed to be snows or stars? Try to get rid of them, they just add to the confusion...
"You might want to consider turning up the hardness of the brush when you mask (assuming that you are not erasing, right?)...
I'm a bit confused as to the idea you are trying to convey, but a blue background seems a bit too bland for this wall.
It also seems that you have arbitrarily *masked* the center part of the wall, it might be better if you just leave it as-is...
Overall not a bad wallpaper...keep up the good work!" View

"Please, practicalities aside, the BG doesn't work with the main characters...(very interesting BG though)
You might want to consider vectoring the characters, for they are way too small for this wall...and kind of blurry too...
"Did you draw the mask yourself in M$ Paint? If you did, then I am very impressed at your skills (I can never get anything in M$ paint working...), but on the other hand, you might want to something about the aliasings on the edges of the main character (a common M$ Paint problem).
There is this weird glow on the right cheek(?) of the character, which to me seems strange. As for the highlights on the upper-right hand side of the mask, you might want to add some more gaussian blur to them...right now they stand out way to much, making the highlights seem unrealistic.
Oh, and the background...the mask appears to be floating on a sea of hot lava, a great concept, but the foreground (mask) is not at all blended into the background (mainly due to the thick black lines surrounding the mask), so you might want to decrease the opacity of the outline to better blend the image together.
...and speaking of the Background...I think it is kind of too simple. Sure random clouds are amusing to look at, but it gets old after a while, so try to find something that would convey the mood of the piece holistically, and please, try not to use red, you already had tons of red in the foreground, you might want to contrast that in the BG; and if possible, use a darker color, thus to accentuate the foreground...
Great job on the mask, a little bit of work on the BG and I think you are gold!

"First of all, hello and welcome.
Now to the wallpaper; you might want to boost the resolution of the wall, I really don't think 1024x768 is that common of a screen resolution anymore, besides, if you make it large, say 1600x1200, the system will resize the image automatically, so no worries there.
As for the wallpaper itself, I really like your idea and concept. The wallpaper, however, seems unfinished...I see that you have put in some effort in the foreground character, but the background is seriously lacking...If you want to create the 3D space feel, I would recommend black/silver (I believe gray/navy would also work great) Diffusion Cloud with 75% Radial Blur. Of course, you could also stack up multiple diffusion cloud layers and set blend to Screen or Multiply depending on the mood you want to convey. (A little blur may also work wonders here...and try to choose colors that would contrast the main character's eyes)
Also, you might want to do a more gradual masking, right now the edges look too...abrupt and unnatural...
Oh and I don't know if it is the effect you are trying to create, but the image quality of the main character is very poor, so perhaps vectorize the image? (Unless, of course, you are trying for the pastel look, but then you might want to change the background accordingly...to something wooden...thus creating the effect of a pastel painting on a wooden surface...for instance.)
It is a very good start. Keep up the great work! :p" View
