After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!
This wallpaper has an extremely dark and deep theme and finishes it off with a very well placed set of images. The edges are all very clean and hold well to the background. I also really like the way that partial characters are used for the background design with a splatter style. It really keeps up the overall quality of the wallpaper.

I thikn the only thing I would have suggested would be that the face of the character seems a little bit odd in the overall design of the wallpaper. The rest of the piece has a glowing and very brilliant effect while the face has a sketchy style to it and its very rigid. I think it makes a point of interest, but, at the same time, makes a little bit of a detraction from the overall quality. Other than that, I have to say that this is an overall amazing wallpaper.

"Very nice wallpaper. The simple overall design works well for the overall design and keeps the entire piece quite interesting. My only suggestion would be to maybe work on making the colors work a little bit more smoothly. The colors looked a little better and bolder in the thumbnail, but seemed to be a bit low on colors used in the overall palette becuase there's layers of different shades of color versus a smooth transition.

One thing I do have to point out that I'm not a huge fan of is the way that the background appears to be a stock photo with some blur and a color filter applied. "Your wallpaper is absolutely amazing, especially because you say that it's your first. My first was absolutely horrendous.
I did notice a few flaws with your piece, though. The first one would be the chain at the bottom of the wallpaper. It fades off as if it were the edge of the scan and it was just left as is to quickly finish the wallpaper. Although it's not all that noticeable, I would say that it's a flaw in the overall quality. The other thing I have to say something about is the quality of the character scan. It looks very faded and blurry. Maybe it would have been better of as a very strong and solid type of character scan with bold edges, but toned down a little bit in brightness to fit in with the melancholy look of the entire piece. I think that, too, would have made the wallpaper come together in a better way.
Other than that, I really like this wallpaper. The moon in the background has a very nice effect for the overall wallpaper and doesn't overpower it with an overwhelming presence. Very good use of balance there. I also have to say that the moonlight style is very hard to use in a productive way, but you've utilized it very well. Kudos for that too. "You've got a very successful and powerful wallpaper going here. I also note many of the different changes that you had to make to turn this into a submittable version. I definitely have to commend you for all of that hard work. On that same note, I do have a few things that I noticed that should maybe be modified in the future.
The first thing I noticed was all of the flowers that are on the steps and around the stained glass. They seem to have the innate ability to stand out like a basic vector over a high-resolution scanned image. Maybe those needed some altering as for shading before being placed onto the background there. They do fit in in their own unusual way as they are now, but I think it would have been a lot better to have nice extracted looking images there to keep everything looking like one original scan.
Another thing I notice is her one hand ((I guess it would be her right, but the one on the left if you're looking at it.)) It has the look of being vectored and placed over the scan image. I think it has to do with the brightness of the colors of her hand. Maybe you could just tone down the brightness a little bit on that hand to give it the same color appearance as the rest of her body. I think the same thing as the hand also applies to the lace coming down from her hair on the same side. It has a very hard edge at the end ((almost as if it got cut off)) and the brightness of it stands out in an unusual way.
I do really like the way that the lighting was applied to the wallpaper. It really makes a difference in the overall mood of the entire piece. I think the major two parts of that effect are the way that the light emphasizes her figure from the window and how the steps don't have an entirely consistent color. The other major thing that I note is that the scan doesn't exactly agree with the background. This particular picture of Kenshin looks like a kill stroke and has a look of blood lust to it. The background contradicts that in almost a chibi way. It makes Kenshin look a lot less ferocious, but that doesn't work too well with his as the Hitokiri. Maybe it would have been better with one of his "Oro?" faces.
Otherwise, I think you were going in a good direction with the design. I think you just strayed a little bit in your design process, but it could be fixed up a bit in the future." View

"This is definitely a very nice wallpaper, but I do think that it has a few things that could have been improved.
For one, the entire wallpaper is very blurry. It looks like the entire piece was an original scan and just put through a radial blur, but it keeps the paint-style appearance that was desired in the end.
The next thing that I have to point out is the empty void in the background. It makes the entire piece look so plain. Maybe it could have been improved by making a few more shafts of bamboo and fading them into the darkness of the black for the background. I think that would have created a more interesting sense of depth and made the wallpaper look a lot less simplified.
The other thing that I have to point out is Kenshin's sword. The blood effect is very interesting, but it doesn't follow Nobuhiro Watsuki's style for Kenshin. It's a bit too opaque and it may be a little bit too minor to be a part of the wallpaper. The focus goes toward the metallic object ((his sword)) here and it may have needed a bit more work because it appears a little bit too under worked.
Other than that, this is a well-made Kenshin wallpaper. It's always nice to see a new one because the category has gone near to dead in the recent months. It's also not a poorly made wallpaper, so it's worth noting and definitely worth one good thumb up! Keep up the good work!" View

"Very well designed wallpaper. I think that the way that the abstract elements of all of the "scrapping" come together in such an interesting way that the use of any background other than the simple solid color would have been too much. I really think that the simplicity of colors and vectoring here make an interesting twist on the wallpaper and it makes all attention flow throughout the entire piece. There's also lots of space for icons and not-too-bright colors to help keep the desktop brightness down when staring at a screen in the dark of night. That's definitely worth the commemoration of praise.
I do have a suggestion for improvement here. Hinamori is a little bit too subtle in the wallpaper. She seems to be a minuscule detail in the complex vector and that might be a little too small. Maybe she should have been a tad bit larger, keeping the symmetrical style, but focusing a little bit more towards something like her face instead of the shoulders, neck, and face.
Other than that, I definitely have to say that this is a wallpaper very well done. I'm going to have to give this one of my highest ratings - two thumbs way up!" View

"This wallpaper is extremely well designed. The background has an absolutely amazing feel to it and it's not too overpowering, either. It really makes the rest of the wallpaper seem peaceful with that "winter" type look. The other thing that really catches my eye is the way that the characters seem to perfectly fit into their environment. It has a flawless transition between foreground and background without losing the definition of each. I think that the lighting effect applied makes that come together in a more effective way. One other thing that I noted was the use of different types of texture in the background. It really makes things stand out against the more plain items, giving a sense of depth, but it isn't that strong of a design that it would stand out over that characters. "I like this wallpaper ((especially because there aren't enough FLCL wallpapers here)) but I do have a few suggestions for improvement. One thing is that there needs to be at least a little bit of basic texture in the clouds to make them a little bit more interesting. The figures in the foreground seem a bit too detailed for the rest of the wallpaper. The other thing that is noticeably a problem would be the layered hill that Medica Mechanica is sitting on. "The black and white theme leaves a very evil impression into this wallpaper. I think it makes the overall appearance come out in a very interesting way. I think the rain also makes an interesting effect, but I think it makes the wallpaper look a little bit too sketchy because the effect is not uniformly applied to the entire wallpaper. It only seems to be in the light spots. I think it would be a lot more interesting if the rain was slightly visible through the entire piece by making a very faint highlight on the side of each drop ((I know it sounds tedious, but it would look nice)) and then it would make the entire piece come together a little bit better. "This is a very well thought out idea for a wallpaper, but I thin kit is poorly applied in some ways. The thing that really bothers me most in the matter is that this was not changed too much from the original scan ((when it comes to the foreground anyways)) The only notable differences are the background with the rising sun design and the texture placed over the entire wallpaper. I also think that the texture that was used should have had some different textures placed in different areas to make the movement a little bit more interesting, too. Overall, I would have to say that this is a very successful wallpaper, despite all of my criticism. It's not that it's a bad wallpaper, it's just that it wasn't that much of a personal creation and lacks the edge of creativity that we all see in many wallpapers here in the galleries, but doesn't lack in the quality. "This is, overall, an interesting wallpaper. One thing I do note on it though is that it is extremely plain. I think what could have improved that would be to have put some texture into the background. For example - maybe use something like a cloud texture just around the character to create a sense of dimensionality with the background and fade it out as it gets further from her instead of only applying it to a certain area of the wallpaper. It's only a suggestion, but it may be that little bit of detail that may be the difference between an average wallpaper and a very high quality wallpaper. "This is definitely a very nice wallpaper, but I do think that it has a few things that could have been improved.For one, the entire wallpaper is very blurry. It looks like the entire piece was an original scan and just put through a radial blur, but it keeps the paint-style appearance that was desired in the end.
The next thing that I have to point out is the empty void in the background. It makes the entire piece look so plain. Maybe it could have been improved by making a few more shafts of bamboo and fading them into the darkness of the black for the background. I think that would have created a more interesting sense of depth and made the wallpaper look a lot less simplified.
The other thing that I have to point out is Kenshin's sword. The blood effect is very interesting, but it doesn't follow Nobuhiro Watsuki's style for Kenshin. It's a bit too opaque and it may be a little bit too minor to be a part of the wallpaper. The focus goes toward the metallic object ((his sword)) here and it may have needed a bit more work because it appears a little bit too under worked.
Other than that, this is a well-made Kenshin wallpaper. It's always nice to see a new one because the category has gone near to dead in the recent months. It's also not a poorly made wallpaper, so it's worth noting and definitely worth one good thumb up! Keep up the good work!"

"Very well designed wallpaper. I think that the way that the abstract elements of all of the "scrapping" come together in such an interesting way that the use of any background other than the simple solid color would have been too much. I really think that the simplicity of colors and vectoring here make an interesting twist on the wallpaper and it makes all attention flow throughout the entire piece. There's also lots of space for icons and not-too-bright colors to help keep the desktop brightness down when staring at a screen in the dark of night. That's definitely worth the commemoration of praise.I do have a suggestion for improvement here. Hinamori is a little bit too subtle in the wallpaper. She seems to be a minuscule detail in the complex vector and that might be a little too small. Maybe she should have been a tad bit larger, keeping the symmetrical style, but focusing a little bit more towards something like her face instead of the shoulders, neck, and face.
Other than that, I definitely have to say that this is a wallpaper very well done. I'm going to have to give this one of my highest ratings - two thumbs way up!"

"This wallpaper is extremely well designed. The background has an absolutely amazing feel to it and it's not too overpowering, either. It really makes the rest of the wallpaper seem peaceful with that "winter" type look. The other thing that really catches my eye is the way that the characters seem to perfectly fit into their environment. It has a flawless transition between foreground and background without losing the definition of each. I think that the lighting effect applied makes that come together in a more effective way. One other thing that I noted was the use of different types of texture in the background. It really makes things stand out against the more plain items, giving a sense of depth, but it isn't that strong of a design that it would stand out over that characters. I definitely have to commemorate this wallpaper with a massive two thumbs way up and let you know to keep it up. These wallpapers are absolutely amazing."View

"This wallpaper has an interesting twist to it. There is an interesting use of the inverse here, but it still doesn't seem too out of place. That may be because of a balance of white and black, but regardless, it works. It also doesn't exactly seem unfitting for Naruto, so I would have to say this is a wallpaper well done."View

"I like this wallpaper ((especially because there aren't enough FLCL wallpapers here)) but I do have a few suggestions for improvement. One thing is that there needs to be at least a little bit of basic texture in the clouds to make them a little bit more interesting. The figures in the foreground seem a bit too detailed for the rest of the wallpaper. The other thing that is noticeably a problem would be the layered hill that Medica Mechanica is sitting on. It seems very unfitting of the rest of the wallpaper. Other than that, this came together in a very interesting way and I do have to say - keep it up! "View

"The black and white theme leaves a very evil impression into this wallpaper. I think it makes the overall appearance come out in a very interesting way. I think the rain also makes an interesting effect, but I think it makes the wallpaper look a little bit too sketchy because the effect is not uniformly applied to the entire wallpaper. It only seems to be in the light spots. I think it would be a lot more interesting if the rain was slightly visible through the entire piece by making a very faint highlight on the side of each drop ((I know it sounds tedious, but it would look nice)) and then it would make the entire piece come together a little bit better. Other than that, this wallpaper looks very nice and creates a very interesting evil effect. I also have to commemorate the negative space ((which is perfect for icons)) and the use of dark colors. That helps those of us who stare at a screen in the dark for hours on end. Xb"View

"This is a very well thought out idea for a wallpaper, but I thin kit is poorly applied in some ways. The thing that really bothers me most in the matter is that this was not changed too much from the original scan ((when it comes to the foreground anyways)) The only notable differences are the background with the rising sun design and the texture placed over the entire wallpaper. I also think that the texture that was used should have had some different textures placed in different areas to make the movement a little bit more interesting, too. Overall, I would have to say that this is a very successful wallpaper, despite all of my criticism. It's not that it's a bad wallpaper, it's just that it wasn't that much of a personal creation and lacks the edge of creativity that we all see in many wallpapers here in the galleries, but doesn't lack in the quality. It does have a very crisp and detailed appearance and I do have to acknowledge the fact that it looks very nice. Keep up the good work!"View

"This is a wonderful wallpaper. The background has a very nice touch and makes a very interesting piece. It's not too bright, yet it keeps the overall light appearance. The one thing that I do have to note is that there seems to be an out-of-place highlight in the character's hair on the left side. It doesn't really seem to fit in with the background or the lighting of the character. It seems to be just a semi-poor extraction. Other than that this is a very well made wallpaper. It gets my praise and a well deserved two thumbs up."View

"This is, overall, an interesting wallpaper. One thing I do note on it though is that it is extremely plain. I think what could have improved that would be to have put some texture into the background. For example - maybe use something like a cloud texture just around the character to create a sense of dimensionality with the background and fade it out as it gets further from her instead of only applying it to a certain area of the wallpaper. It's only a suggestion, but it may be that little bit of detail that may be the difference between an average wallpaper and a very high quality wallpaper. Other than that, this is definitely a well made wallpaper and worthy of a good two thumbs up! Keep up the good work!"View
