This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

Instrumental or Lyrical?
1 year 2 months ago
"I feel like discussing this, because it is such an important part of music that people sometimes think they’re treating evenly, but are actually not. Most of the people nowadays are gonna say they prefer music with lyrics, because that’s what popular music has in it most of the time. But I personally prefer instrument for a very good reason. Pop music with lyrics tends to lack in complexity (generally speaking) and rather focusing on original patterns and interesting melodies they tend to rely on a nice riff and a simple melody.
Poetry can also be conveyed through music, so I often feel that music with lyrics should get an extra hug ^_^ However, when most of those lyrics are ‘I miss you baby’ and etc. my appreciation of them drops significantly.
So, which do you prefer? Instrumental, lyrical, or a good mix of the two?

Death Penalty
1 year 3 months ago
"We don't have the death penalty here, but I'm against it for numerous reasons.1. There have been instances where the death penalty has been carried out when the case was very bias. There have been cases in the states where people who are not even old enough to vote have been executed. Often there is also racist prejudice in the ruling as well.
2. Like someone said earlier, if the death penalty is carried out it is impossible to correct it if the court made an error (unlike gaol, where they'll be released and hopefully compensated).
3. Morally and ethically it is wrong to kill a person, no matter what they've done. I stand by that, despite not being religious. I also feel that having a person sit in gaol is probably a lot more painful for them than for them to die.
4. A crime is often judged on the facts and figures, i.e. how many people a serial killer has killed. The mental state of the person is sometimes ignored and not considered an important factor.
With the whole 'second chance' thing, I believe killers don't deserve second chances, because... well... their victims didn't get one, so why should they? But I still feel they should sit in gaol rather than face execution.

What do you do when you feel crappy?
1 year 3 months ago
"Happiness is a state of mind, as someone informed me recently. You can feel happy whenever you want, but some people get there easier than others. I'm one of those people who never gets depressed, so I can't really say anything for this. When I have a brief moment of unhappiness I usually just sit it off and do what I normally do. Sometimes thinking about the problem resolves it unusually fast ;)"View
Remake films
1 year 5 months ago
"I only like remade films if they are remade for a good purpose, rather than Hollywood wanting more cash. So rare these days to see remade movies which have been redone for changes in context and the like. I'd like to see more of those, but I'd still prefer some original masterpieces too."View
What is your favourite season of the year and why?
1 year 5 months ago
"Winter >>> Spring >>> Summer >>> AutumnFor starters I'm born in Winter. Secondly, it happens to be the most refreshing season, unlike Summer where you have to have the air-con on to keep cool. For Winter all it required is a blanket and a hot chocolate, and both of those are quite nice ^_^ A good trade-off for the cold weather (it doesn't snow here, so meh). Spring has flowers, so it = WIN! Summer has the holidays and beaches and all that... I'd probably put it higher than Spring, but the weather in Spring is probably the nicest. Summer in Australia is hell -_- Autumn is at the startish of the school year + it is a bland season. That's why I put it last."

Why do you visit this forum?

"Firstly, it's my favourite forum/site that my school hasn't blocked. Secondly, I find anime wallpapers far better than regular default and 'this is a flower... this is a beach' type ones. Thirdly, I really want to learn how to create wallpapers. That's about it I suppose..."View
question for people with long hair
1 year 6 months ago
"Hair falls out naturally, yes. My hair's extremely long, and of course you loose a few strands when you wash it. But most shampoos (ironically, usually the more expensive kind) contain an agent which is used also for removing concrete. I'll have to check on the actual chemical name, but I'm certain using products with it can't be good for your head in the long term."View
Valentines day a Novelty Item and its a DUMB TREND
1 year 6 months ago
"Hmm... Well, the guys in my year got dressed up in red boxes and the girls in red dresses and did some singing telegrams and sent flowers to classes to raise money for charity. At lunch they did love-song dedications and everyone was dancing in the quadrangle. Although Valentine's Day is an obvious day to make anyone who owns a newsagency, sweet shop or florist to make money, I like to think there's positive in the whole thing. People don't rip on Xmas in the same way. Why? Because Xmas celebrates (obviously not from a highly Christian P.O.V.) 'giving' and family and stuff that people consider important. One could argue you can do that any day of the year too. But they don't because it's religious, sacred and traditional.Exactly. I don't really have anyone I can appreciate on V-day, but I feel that if I did I'd like to take the time to make them feel extra special, just as a bonding thing XD Besides, it's so easy to neglect the things you take for granted with such hectic lives. There's no way you can forget on V-day XD"

about mangas
1 year 6 months ago
"Although everyone has basically said my views on why I prefer manga over anime, I'll admit now that there was one point which wasn't looked over in detail as to why I enjoy anime almost as much as manga. Music. Some anime has some awesome music in it *bows to Yoko Kanno* which, if the anime never existed, nor would it. So I'm grateful to some manga being made into anime, although story wise sometimes you wish it didn't exist XD"View
Should Manga Created Outside Japan Be Called Manga?
1 year 6 months ago
"There was an article in the newspaper about manga and anime and how popular they are becoming in the Western world. At the bottom there was a section about an Australian manga artist Queenie Chan who's manga 'The Dreaming' is being translated and sold around the world. 'She has little time for arguments about whether manga produced outside Japan can really be called manga'; this quote struck a chord with me. There's lots of manga creation going on outside Japan now, and it almost questions the idea that manga is essentially 'Japanese comics'. Do you agree that it is simply a style, or perhaps manga is strictly a Japanese thing?"View
Your pet-peeves about people
1 year 6 months ago
"Selfish people. Period. I can't stand petty people who think the world revolves around them and if you don't do as they say then there's something wrong with you. Add control freaks to that also. Sadly, I've met too many of these people, and perhaps even worse, some of them are my friends. For example, the person who borrowed 50 cents off me so they could get something better from the canteen than what they could have gotten without it. And then, when someone else asks if they can borrow money the next day because they have no food and I have left my wallet at home, I ask the same person if they could return the 5o cents so I could give it to my other friend who has no food. When that person said 'no' for the first time, it kinda ticked me off, but after 2 more times I decided that I didn't like this person. If they'd had a brain they would have been able to see it wasn't about the money, it was just common sense to give back a lousy 50 cents so you didn't leave a bad ever-lasting impression as a stingy person."View

Meaning of Youe name

"Rhian, Welsh for 'maiden'. I went through my parents baby names book and found the Welsh name for 'gay' highlighted. I probably would have ended up with that name if I'd been a boy. I know it's supposed to be the happy gay, but I'm still grateful I'm a girl XD (for numerous other reasons as well)."View
Centralized Power or Spreaded Power
1 year 6 months ago
"Hmm... 'A spread in power'? Now, if you want to get all technical, this could be applied to a vast number of things. But, I'm guessing this is on a global scale because of the first post XD When it comes to global politics and military strategy there are pros and cons for both. One may argue that having 'centralised' power is bad because if that is destroyed then the rest is done for. However, looking at the world on a wide view who is the other side at this present time? No country is on the opposite side of the US which is anywhere near the same size of it. To destroy the centralised power in this scenario you'd need a power which is close to the same size to be a threat. In a military sense it can be both good and bad. A central power can be a strong force with strong offense and defense, however if the enemy has the quantity over your quality they will aim for the center and possibly with a large number overtake it. All in all it depends on the context and numerous other factors before deciding which is better. For example, you could say that spreaded power supports the idea of communism, although everyone knows it doesn't work that way XD"

Why Japanese are so good in everything they do!!!
1 year 6 months ago
"Remember, the 'criminals' are decided by the victors. I know the Japanese had a harsh way of dealing with their prisoners and all that (both my grandfathers fought in WWII BTW) but you have to remember that there are rarely ever war criminals on the side that wins. During the war Japanese people dedicated themselves to their country, often doing a lot of drastic things in the process. I see no problems with their PM respecting that. However, if he is just doing that to intentionally piss people off, then I have a problem.
Yeah, the topic title is a bit, out... Japanese people aren't necessarily 'better', but their society values commitment and good work ethic, which obviously helps them statistically achieve better results. Plus you are generalising a fair bit. I bet there is at least one couch potato in Japan XD"
