Who knows, they may bring more innovative and creative games to our shelves as a new target group ***as long as its not a barbie game***.

Those would be man's failed attempts to get women in to gaming. I'll take Silent Hill any day.

Honestly, Online games don't even "count" as far as I'm concerned. Anyone can play as anyone in those kind of games. I'd be more in awe if a girl played a "typical guy game" like Doom/Quake[. . .]

Whether or not you realize this, you statement can come off offensive in that it sounds like you don't believe girls can play a "typical guy game". I've known plenty of girls that play Doom and Quake, but of course, people simply assume they are male.

I've found that it's less the people around me thinking I'm weird for being a girl and playing video games and more so that they think video games are weird or whatever regardless of the gender. "

"Uh, no. I'd rather let that game die already. If they keep messing with it next thing we know they'll find a way to make Barret look like a woman too! And I agree with frostius, the game has been milked enough as it is, and each time it's been "pretty" graphics that lack substance. This in itself is funny considering how ridiculously big the fanbase has become for the game; you'd think they would take more pride in the title and really put some heart in to what they put out for it. I'm also disturbed by the fact that I saw the game on ebay for around $600 dollars brand new. Sorry, but NO game is worth that much, especially when it costs more than a PS3.


It's a classic, love it, remember it, but let it rest in piece. "

Really? I worked at GameStop at the time and the store I worked for sold it for the identical price. No price modification or anything was done in the system. It came up as 49.99, no coupons or anything. I had mine pre-ordered too. However, I do agree, that IS a rip-off.

I wish I could have gone to your store! I like the metal case and all, but it wasn't worth the extra money I had to spend."

Of course it is going to happen. I mean, deosn't it get boring playing as a guy everysingle time you turn on a video game. I think they should have more games with Female main characters or in fact the option to choose who you want to play as, maybe even customize them. Just like the phantasy star series.

Star Ocean: The Second Story let's you choose. What people neglect to note about Rena, though, is that while she's the best healer and her auto-commands are mostly defensive, she attacks with her hands and is actually quite bad-ass is you control her yourself. TriAce is generally pretty good about making female leads- just look at their Valkyrie Profile series. Event when the main hero is a guy they have excellent supporting females that aren't just healers, and when they are healers they still give them strong personalities.

There are actually a lot of games with female leads if you broaden your horizons. The survival horror genre is loaded with leading ladies that come in every walk of life. It's pretty nifty- they aren't all vulnerable little girls, or beefy commando chicks either."

Ouch, you got ripped off. GameStop sold it brand new for the same price as the regular edition.

No, actually they didn't. I preordered it from Gamestop and they wanted $75 for it. THAT is a rip-off.

I gotta say, $30 isn't bad for a starting price for a game, unless it's terrible, in which case paying anything for it is bad. I can see where it wouldn't be worth it if you already on the GBA version, but since I had to borrow a GBA to play it in the first place this could be alright for me in the end. I guess Square-Enix heard enough people like me whining about the annoying console jump and fixed it "

My brother plays as a female Mesmer on Guild Wars, and my best friend (who is a girl) plays as a huge male warrior, and both of them are always assumed to be the gender of the character they are using.

I saw an argument someone started where they were calling a guy playing as a girl "gay", but then someone brought up the point that he's looking at girl's backside all day while the men playing as men... Food for thought, if you ever dare make that accusation. "

Will the PS3 die???

"I don't think it will necessarily "die", but I don't ever see it picking up in competition with the Xbox360 if things continue the way they are. Everyone can throw out stats about supposed "superiority" of the PS3, but if specs are enough to save a system it wouldn't be selling so terribly, would it? Trying to say "it's processor is better", "blah blah blah" doesn't guarantee it's going to survive.

It's sales right now are more so due to the fact that it's a cheap blue-ray player. It may sell on hopes and dreams of die-hard fans of games that might make it to the system, but the current selection of games is pretty sad, to put it nicely. People who are upset resort to calling it "backstabbing" with the way that certain titles are jumping ship from the PS3, but when you consider that companies have to earn money to stay in business it would be foolish to assume they are going to stay with a console that can hardly sell itself. It's basically a "blue-ray that happens to play some games". If you don't believe me, look at the different games for sale for each system. It really speaks for itself.

I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes or say one system is "ultimately superior", that's entirely a matter of preference and stats don't mean anything in that regard. "

"I had finally talked myself into wanting to play this game on the Wii only to have that shot down as I read what the controls will be like. You can read about it HERE.

Quite frankly, they sound like a complete waste on the Wii, and make me wonder why the freak did they make the effort to put it on that system? Now it just feels like they abandoned their former fanbase with hopes of making it popular on another system. Maybe things were affected by the big dispute Tecmo has gotten itself into, I don't know. But Now I'm even less enthused about this game than before."

It's bad to think about cheating on your girl/boyfriend, and it gets worse and worse the more that you do along those lines. If you live your life dreaming about cheating on your girlfriend/boyfriend you're not too far from the edge there. People say it's harmless to imagine it, but it opens the door and you may eventually start reasoning out why it's okay to "hang out with this girl/boy", "take her/him to the movies", "go to her/his apartment", etc. Innocent actions can get out of control far more easily than people will acknowledge."

"I listen to my parents even when I don't agree with them because I realize that no matter how different life now may seem from when they were young they try to do what is best for me. My dad and I don't get along as well as we used to, but I don't make excuses to disobey him when I live under his roof and it's important to me to respect my parent's authority. Now, that doesn't mean that they treat me like a child. I have responsibilities and so do they, and I try to help them out as best as I can. They have done so much for me in my life that I owe it to them, but it's also more than that.

So many kids whine and complain about their parents' "strict rules", but it's harder out there on your own than you may think. Friends that you think will never hurt you can shatter your life much easier than you may think, so don't forget your family."

"I think it totally depends.

I prefer some anime to manga, and vice versa. I think manga may seem to have a bit of a disadvantage in that it has to grab your attention without motion, sound, and normally color. But manga that overcomes this can make it that much more enjoyable. On the flip side, motion doesn't guarantee at all that the show won't be boring. It really just comes down to personal preference, and the people acting like their opinion is fact that "all manga is boring" or "if you hate manga you must hate reading!" really need to get a grip. Personal preference people, not natural law. "

"I agree with kartarae, I don't believe in ghosts but I do believe in demons. But even on this note, I think people are too quick to place things that they cannot explain in to this idea that it was a supernatural occurrence. I'm very religious and even I think people jump to quickly to label things as ghostly happenings and the like. On the other hand I think people also play with things they shouldn't tamper with, likes many forms of witchcraft and things like ouji boards. Just because you think it's nothing but fun and games doesn't mean you aren't causing something to happen.

Though this depends on who you ask, I'd say yes and no. A spirit/soul would be something that everyone has and when they die it moves on into an afterlife. A ghost is a spirit/soul of a dead person that still wanders the Earth in unrest (though maybe not wanders, supposedly they can stay in one place as well). That's a pretty generic definition, though."
