After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

dropped series

6 months 1 week ago

"This, sadly, has happened with me several times.

For starters, my winning a lovely little art contest held at a local Borders provided me with an awesome prize: getting 3 vols. of some manga I'd never heard of before. One of which was Desert Coral by Wataru Murayama (published by ADV in the U.S., Tokyopop in Germany). It caught my heart and I eagerly sped thru the trio of vols. I had won, anxiously awaiting my chance to buy the final 2... only to discover that ADV had dropped the title.

Another few are OEL comics/manga/nisei comi, Off*Beat (a BL/psychological tale), and My Cat Loki (a hear-warming look into the life of a true cat-loving artist. Both titles were under Tokyopop). Both of the aforementioned were put on "hiatus" and then later in the year formally canceled. The news broke my heart, as I've come to treasure these series.

Still others include: Boogiepop, The Outcast, and several more under Seven Seas' belt which I have yet even gotten the chance to read AT ALL; Vamp!, Baccano!, and Gun Princess.

For me this is a fate no book series nor series of any kind for that matter should have to suffer. I find it harder to deal with having no closure for a story than I do for getting over a bad or disappointing one.

Still, I'm a practitioner of the Law of Attraction and so I wholeheartedly refuse to give up on these wonderful little gems of literature. Each and every one will see a satisfying conclusion. I simply won't allow any other outcome. (n_n)-b emoticon"

The Twilight series...

7 months 2 days ago

"While I've heard of it, I have not had the chance to either read the books nor see the movie adaptation as of this writing. I have heard many a passionate discussion throughout the 'net on both ends of the proverbial spectrum - either labeling Twilight with a nearly-palpable hatred as an insult to writers of any literature, or praising it with hearts fluttering in joy as a charming, thoughtful and highly addictive read.

So, as you can imagine, I'm very hesitate to offer my opinion of the franchise as I have not experienced it firsthand as of yet."

Books or Internet

"While I enjoy the freedom and accessibility of reading things online, especially books, columns or article, there's just something--something indescribable--about physically holding a book in my hands and reading it. Flipping the pages, taking a break to really soak in the story's meanings."

R.I.P. Toonami

10 months 4 days ago

"I was very sad to learn of Toonami's passing, especially since I grew up watching it for most of my childhood, and also because those times hold some very precious memories between me and my older brother.

I can still remember when they hosted fans' fan art that was submitted to, the in-between-programs mini series that showcased Tom and his ship's transformations, as well as the attack on his ship. Some of the most iconic anime of the U.S. having been started on Toonami; Dragonball Z, Gundam Wing, Sailor Moon, and many, many others that, while they may not be synonymous with the TV block itself, they've become undeniable juggernauts in the West when it comes to anime."

WALL-E

10 months 4 days ago

"I personally loved WALL-E both for its childlike innocence and desire to explore, as well as the purehearted discovery of one's first love, and at the same time it spoke values about conscious environmentalism and how we are as much responsible for our planet's continued survival and quality of life as we are our own. The latter message of which I thought was especially well-done because it was thought out and presented in such a way that it made a tremendous impact and yet it never "beat you over the head" with its underlying meanings, turning them into obnoxious propaganda, and I have to applaud Pixar for achieving such a feat. p(T_T)q emoticon"

How does your life resolve around Anime/Manga?

10 months 4 days ago

"For me, it's a very diverse immersion into my fandom. While I don't read a new manga every single day, I'll check up on my favorite news, art and community websites (some more than once) every day unless circumstances prevent. I draw when my mood's right, which in my opinion further fuels my love for my fandom as--when I draw-- I feel I want to see more of my favorite mangaka's work so I can learn from them and improve my own art. Then there's the anime, which I'll admit my obsession in actually watching it has lessened over the past year or so, but that doesn't mean I'm watching any fewer hours of it online. For the most part, it's sites that post shows after they've aired on, say, Adult Swim or Sci-Fi that I frequent since I can't keep continuity in staying up to watch 'em regularly (though I do exhibit Night Owl sleeping patterns an awful lot LAWLZ)."

"Oddly enough, the first time I saw it it was Lucky Star. Nothin' much exiting about that, I'm sure, cosmidering how outrageous some of the other versions are, but to me at least it was just so energetic and fun to watch and undeniably cute that I really loved it. |(n_n)| emoticon

Later on I came across all sorts of parodies, including Gundam 00, Death Note, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Code Geass, and even Fire Emblem (the latter of which featured the most adorable dancing Marth I've EVER seen) <3 emoticon "

Your thoughts on voting.

1 year 3 weeks ago

"I can understand what you're saying. For a long time I felt exceedingly depressed and discouraged whenever the mention or even thought of voting came up. I thought, "what's the point? It's all gonna be lumped together anyway." But then I started to see things in a different light (largely in part to more positive thinking).

Now, I was genuinely excited at the prospect of being able to vote-- even if all it boiled down to was a tiny drop in the proverbial bucket, it meant a personal milestone and achievement to me. What's more, I will openly express my wholehearted support of Obama and Biden.

Together, we CAN make a difference. And we SHALL be heard."

R.I.P. Toonami

"I'm very truly sad to see Toonami go the way of the dinosaur, as it was such a monumental icon of my childhood. P(T_T) emoticon

I still to this day fondly remember the events of Tom and his ship, however vaguely, as they both went through some fantastical transformations.

The times when my brother and I would watch Sailormoon, Gundam Wing, and Dragonball Z all afternoon are some of my best memories. I remember eagerly awaiting to see the portion of the block where fanart was displayed.

Farewell, Toonami, a small part of you shall remain in my heart, always./(-_-)/~ emoticon"

Are you a proud anime fan?

1 year 1 month ago

"While it shames me to admit it, I must concede that I'm not always open about my fandom, as I am wary of being made fun of, ostracized, or otherwise rejected by friends or even strangers.

But thankfully, over the years, that train of thought has started to dissipate. And I do believe that in a short time, I will feel comfortable enough with myself in my life to proudly announce my nerding to the world over.<3 emoticon"

how long can you go without your anime fix

1 year 1 month ago

"I can definitely say my anime/manga fix has very little wiggle room. More so for manga than anime, these days, but nonetheless they both remain strong.

Roughly I'd say, in regards to anime, at least, I've gone for several weeks without watching anything, though the duration is also effected by what else I'm currently engaged in in my life at the time.

Manga, I'd say is absolutely a more persistent proverbial thorn in my side. If I don't at least look up information on new manga every other day, I feel somehow deprived. And one way or the other, I'll "have to" purchase a new manga vol. every couple of weeks, a month tops."

Longest time without sleep...

1 year 1 month ago

"The longest I personally have gone without sleeping is only a little over 2 days, and at that time I had to go see my best friends preforming in a play, whereat I struggled the entire time to merely sit upright with my eyes open.

My best friend told me once, though, of a buddy of hers in college who stayed up for over 4 days and then suffered severe leg tremors. This fact astonished me as I'd never heard of such an ailment befalling an insomniac before. Has anyone else experienced this?"

[Anime Discussion] Higurashi no Naku Koro ni

1 year 5 months ago

"This series really threw me for a loop. In the beginning I had no idea just how much of an impression Higurashi was going to make for me. At most I was expecting a slightly scary, somewhat predictable horror anime, sloshed down with cutesy, doe-eyed school girls, but instead, oh, boy... instead I set my eyes on a truly shocking, brilliantly presented, and (at times) down right traumatizing series, laden with plot twists and mystery."

How does you family feel about Anime?

1 year 5 months ago

"My mom and brother are very supportive of my obsession; the latter of which was even the one who got me into it. I can't remember too much of it, detail-wise, but I can remember watching Toonami for Gundam Wing, Sailormoon and DBZ, and waking up early on Saturday mornings to watch Cardcaptor Sakura, Pokemon and Digimon are some of my best childhood ota-kei memories.|(n_n)| emoticon

My mother's come with me for all the anime cons I've been to to date, and while my bro hasn't attended any due to extenuating circumstances, he's still very much apart of why I'm an ota-kei to this day. This year my mom even helped me to construct my very first cosplay. It was loads of work, but she was happy when I told her how much it all meant to me. She lets me spend any cash I have on manga, and says she's happy I love reading so much, never belittling the comics I read as "just for kids" or "not 'real' reading," so for that, and for all of her open-mindedness and support over the years, I'd say I couldn't ask for a better famly to be an ota-kei in."

Ouran High School Host Club

1 year 5 months ago

"Even though it's been characterized as a RH series (reverse harem) and a number of elements to the series' charm are a great testimony to that fact, I still think Ouran is a show that can be enjoyed by both sexes. It's got wonderful animation, a delightful, talented and vastly varying cast of seiyuu, and some of the most endearing, comical adventures I've seen in anime in some time. |(n_n)| emoticon I don't consider myself to be any sort of fangirl or advocate for Ouran, but I just... well, really like it. The ending especially was very heart-warming."

"I'm really fond of this series, but the anime specifically I haven't had much exposure to. I've only just recently tried to play catch up with the manga series, since I inadvertently dropped off the face of the earth there for a bit.

But the art style seems faithful to the creator's, the animation quality appears good, so I'll definitely be giving this a good chunk of my time sometime in the foreseeable future. =( ) emoticon Forgive me if this response trailed off too terribly from your initial inquiry."

Does watching anime ever depress you?

Vampire knight

"I was really terribly excited when I found out, through the great folks at Anime News Network, that Vampire Knight would be getting an animated TV debut, but once I actually got a sampling of the series, while the animation quality is very good, the casting is nicely done, and overall it's a faithful adaptation of Hino-sensei's manga, I still feel like it's being rushed in terms of the plot in between the action and whatnot. Don't get me wrong, I still think it's a fair anime in its own right, but all the same I wish they hadn't felt the need to speed through some of it. ===/(@_@)/ emoticon"

how long will you read/watch anime??

1 year 5 months ago

"On average, I'd say I tend to watch a minimum of half an hour in one sitting, and sometimes that can jump to up to 4 or 5 hours straight of anime watching, whether it be a movie or a marathon. It also depends greatly on my mood, since sometimes I can't even stand to sit thru 20 minutes of a series if I'm feeling too fidgety. But yea, I'd say between 30-minutes and 3-5 hours is the norm for my case. (XD) emoticon"

In my opinion the second half of the series was still pretty good, it kept alive what attracted fans to Death Note in the first place; the intricate plot twists and exceedingly brilliant characters, the dramatic artwork and the always-- at least in my view-- on-the-edge-of-your-seat suspense. The very end left a great many things to be pondered, and interpreted :| emoticon But even that in and of itself I didn't mind. It was part of the series' charm. As well as the fact of
