Anime fans 18+, do you hang out with other Otaku?

"I'm 25. Mexican. So, even though I might find from time to time another anime fans, they have not the same knowledge, mm, maybe not knowledge, but, Mexican otakus doesn't watch anything that arent muscular seminaked guys fighting lol. Saint Seiya is almost a religion here hohoho, and almost no one knows no other shows that DBZ, Saint Seiya, and recently, Naruto and Death Note (which doesnt include seminaked guys fighting).

So, I talk about Gankutsuou and almost no one even knows what MonteCristo is, oh wait, thats right, its also a soap opera from here or Colombia dont know... Or I talk about GitS, and no one knows SAC or 2nd GIG. Or how Higurashi and Noir are girlie shows for sissies (when they drool at the pure win of nude Seiya, I insist lol)

So no, even If I do run into other anime fans, I dont usually find them entertaining. They just speak of how Naruto is made form awesomeness. Or if I have already watched Bleach twohundredfifty-something episode.

I prefer thousand times to watch a story, be it from a book, an anime, a manga, a movie, than wasting my life imitating celebrities and competing on who dresses as the slutiest one. I mean, thats the stereotype of young girls. As pervs are the stereotypes of anime fans I must admit lol.

"Mmm, dunno. I kinda liked the first one better.

f course it had several moments which I found stupid like when Deunan tries to protect her mother from an illusion. Come on, a very brave macho soldier doesnt know how holograms work... And dont mention that part at the end where she whines with a little spark coming from the board at the top of the robot.


Aside from those, I enjoyed more the first one. Although, it may just be that Im mad about Warner Bros snatching anime DVDs and doing such a lame job for the true fans who wanted real subtitles."

"Mmmmm, i dont know. All people are like crazy about Steven Spielberg, but I dont really dig his movies. I remember Jurassic Park being truly amazing, but now it just fails with stupid characters and unreal actions. Really loved Indiana Jones but, its just an entertaining movie, not a good one in my opinion.

Maybe Im just being really critical about one of my top 3 animes (LAST EXILE, GANKUTSUOU, GITS:SAC) being used by Americans.

And theres Warner Brothers AKIRA also... damn.."

"They could always begin the 2nd season with the fight between Clare and Rigaldo. And follow the original story from then.

I watched first the anime, and really loved it (Remember to buy it from Funimation), but I felt that the fight versus Priscila was almost flashbacks ands DBZ likeness. And that Clare didnt killed her really disappointing.

Then I read the manga and I have to admit, that it way better. First, because the story truly continues and it seems that a greater, bigger and vaster world is about to be discovered. Just hope it doesnt all crumble down by its own weight."

"OMFG!
I'm so totally expecting this. I really liked the violence and originality of 1st season, but Kai was my favorite, focusing in escaping despair and tragedy. Although it wasnt as shocking the first season (which was the reason several people didnt like it).

But, will Rei continue the story. I think it ended quite well. Maybe it will tell sidestories like Nekogoroshi.

Anyway, the designs look good, they arent as ugly as the 1st season, but I still prefer Kai designs."

"Mm, it wouldnt be that different from nowadays... actually im kind of a zombie during weekdays.... get early, do some exercise, go to work, go to school, get home and watchanime/playPS2/learnotherlanguage. Every questions asked to me is answered with a grunt...

SO I think I would be shot right away :P.

But in case this happened in a weekend.... I probably wouldnt notice it until monday morning. In weekends I stay at home almost all day. BUT ON MONDAY, I would (like all the others), go get supplies (food and weapons), and go somewhere else. Well, thats what everybody says, but if it should happen almost all would be shitting themselves (I would).

"Here in Mexico, the soap are almost a religion.... In my opinion I cant stand them. Bad acting, overacting, simply stupid characters.

I mean I watch stupid animes, but they intend to be that way.

In the soap operas they intend to tell a mature, great story, which ends as a 9-year old script, with adult characters that doesnt have even the mentally age of a teen. Besides, it seems that every soap are just to emphasize that women have to dress and act like sluts, while boys have to be handsome or rich and everyone have to be to partying all time to be someone in life.

When in reality, people that study are the ones who have better jobs and life quality, and are the ones who make all the technology improvements, and actors and sport stars wouldnt be earning their million without the TV... YEAHHHH!! NERD POWER!!

Sorry, its just that I find sad that here in Mexico, intelligence is seen as a matter of laughs. But what can you expect from a country whose culture revolves around beer, soccer, gossip shows, and soaps..."

"As many people here, I intend to leave the house as soon as possible, although here in Mexico is probably more difficult. Im actually 25, and I intend to study a PhD as soon as I graduate...So I guess it means Im stuck here for another couple of years. But simply by graduating from University doesnt give you real good opportunities to find a decent job, so I intend to prepare a little more.

About living in another country, of course. I totally loved France, and those 3 weeks I spent there where the best. As someone said before, away from the house, everything tastes and feels different. You get this feeling of controlling your life.

Other countries would be Japan f course, although I get kind of stressed out in populated areas, or Germany."

PS. I also have a question... There are times when you download a scan but the image doesnt download complete and when you refresh the page you just lose the paper quantity without getting the scan :(. Is there a way to prevent this? Thanks!!"

Anyway, its good to know its getting a dubbing process, so it means it should be released cheaper that the new BANDAI anime which are JAP-audio only with 2 eps per DVD and cost 50 each one O_o."

"I liked the first season, because I have a weakness for horror / gory stories or movies.
But the second season was my favorite. So full of despair about Rika's lives... Besides, it didnt hurt the new character design, cuter and more colorful.

The only thing I didnt liked that much, was all those episodes about Satoko's uncle and the anti-familiar violence movements etc...

But, I think seeing the end of that story was worth it, when you discover who has been behind all of this....

As someone said earlier, I was also buying the DVDs when GENEON decided to retire of the busines... Because of that i had to buy the R2 French ones, which come in a much nicer box, although much more expensive $_$. Now Im only waiting for some ocmpany to license Higurashi Kai."

"My favorite game music MUST be Guilty Gear. I really like metal, rock, trash, so this game music and designs fall into my tastes.

Aside from Guilty Gear, I also like "epic" tracks like those of the Shadow of the Colossus or catchy tunes likes the ones from Rez or Katamari."

"Yes, although I really liked the story of Final fantasy X (too many spoilers) I havent played a Final Fantasy so much as I played the chapter VI (with an emulator of course).

First, I borrowed it from a friend for the SNES, but I didnt finish it. Later, with an emulator i spent hours upon hours in it. Its just a classic, and the thing i like the most is how the characters are really likable. From VII onwards theyre like just clothes moving. Amazing design but they feel kinda empty. Specially since the protagonist tend to be more and more metrosexual...

I still havent finished FF1 to FF5 so i cant say, they make your sight tired :p."
