After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

"Yes, it is the same problem. Kc solution works although it is not how it is done. (whispers to Kc: Tools > Preferences > Advanced > Content > Manage Site Preferences... click the Add...; you can set per site stylesheets using this)
All browsers including Firefox generate errors (see Error Console), so it is a problem on all system. It would be nice to have a seperate login page (sommething like WP's login; yes suggestion for this thread), as well as a way to change the style with out logging in."

hatesyou: Forgot to mention this before, but it is very important. Several times in this thread when concerns regarding the skin were brought up the usual answer was "it is fully customizable, choose another skin" however your default skin prevents users from even logging in, how can they possibly change the skin?"

"...Here is a compilation of all that was suggested.
There have been 141 suggestions on feature (I estimate 30% are not half-stupid, and 95% are written in gibberish) and 16 requests on bug fixes.
Excell-Sheet: [ mediafire]
Here are the suggestions most brought up time and time again.
[times-repeated][-against] [status] "quote from first post"
Features:
[13] [promised] "new css"
[9] [rejected] "Lighten up the site [Cats: this refers to performance and accessibility]"
[8] [promised] "random wallpaper banner [created by Kc] actually brought you to the [w]allpaper it shows [Cats: apparently a cache bug]"
[7][-3] "allowing people to share papers to others"
[6][-1] "separate category for VECTORS"
[5] [rejected] "artists should be separated from the series"
[5] "[multi-author attribute on walls] (Cats: when wall is colab)"
[5] "advanced tag search"
[5] "add tags on the act of submission [Cats: also suggested that they need to be mandatory - this has been rejected]"
[5] [promised] "link from scan gallery to wallpaper gallery"
[4] [rejected] "A fanart section"
[4] [rejected & promised] "chat room" (to clarify the staff and Bantam are thinking differently)
[4] "ability of Edit Comments made on Wallpapers"
[4] [how-it-works-now] "(front page wallers) random from the gallery at the A and above level"
[4] "manga/artist filter"
[3][-2] "WYSIWYG CSS addon [/ or helping program]"
[3] [rejected] "support for PicLens [http://www.piclens.com/site/firefox/win/]"
[3][-1] [rejected] "Allowed to use gif avatar instead just png or jpg"
[3][-2] "Scan comments"
[3] [rejected] "tag system should be removed and be replace by genere [Cats: he means static tags (see: e-shuushuu.net)" (rejection based on: "its easier to report and mods to remove then have a static list"; I don not understand the logic of it either)
[2] "account current state where you can check in which scans did you spent your papers"
[2] [how-it-works-now] "add a add as friend in the profile [Cats: what's now, watch and be watched]"
[2] "view a member's favorites" (you already can, just no link provided)
[2][-1] [rejected] "keep track of all the scans we download and let us re-download them for free"
[2] [rejected] "an avatar (non-animated) section"
[2] "A new title between the Member and Community Waller"
[2] [rejected] "CG art section"
[2] "lastfm scrobbling on [user page] [Cats: probably refers to something on http://www.last.fm]"
[2] "Private messages when someone comments on a certain wallpaper"
[2] "deleting your own wall comments"
[2] "Adding a "wallpapers in progress" section or something like that to userpages"
[2] "place in the front page for the latest updated wallpaper/scan"
[2] [already-exists] "personal message when someone faves or comments on wallpaper"
Bugs:
[10] "the pagination"
[6] "cure the groups from the bugs"
[2] "animes listed in the AnimePaper section is also out of date"
[2] "THE GROUP CONTROLS"
[2] "remove the size and bolding on the first line"
--------------------------
If you are trying to assert "coding in html + css is the optimal method" then you are mistaken. I am a big fan of xhtml and css but I'm afraid from personal experience that while it is the BEST method it is not optimal performance wise. Browsers will start to choke on too much Css, resulting in either absurd resource consumption (probably in most cases due to leaks) and users with slow computers may even experience dreaded scroll lag. From the selection of browsers (20 or so) firefox (surprise surprise) is the most vulnerable to this, but other browsers will slowly start to feel the effect as you go near the limit (this is part of the reason why tables are still sometimes preferred especially on huge interfaces; browsers can render them really fast and efficiently).
Still, with Css (and proper markup, *pokes devs*) you can make the same page available to screen readers, text-browsers, old browsers (the ones that work only with Css1) or even application (like google's spiders) etc etc; so because of its flexibility Css is better.
I only visit the site occasionally (once every 3 weeks) since the failure that is v5. Lets face it not even the one browser its suppose to work in (firefox) actually works with it. With all due respect the number of respectable sites on the internet that are incompatible with all browsers is very very low. That said, using others as a excuse is weak.
This would derail the topic for one and second I could but seeing the current design and how every moderator here seems to think everyone is just going to waste their time fixing everything for them (not to mention ignoring the value of "first impression" - yes when people see a "crappy site" they leave and rarely come back) is what I see as a situation beyond hope.
If you wish I am more then happy to have a conversation with you on the problems of the current v5 design of yours in some other thread, but do not expect too much optimism from me for v6."

"...I disagree with your view on how those heavily publiciesed walls are the best on AP; but there's no reason for a debate.
Concerning that, there's is a problem known as your main designer. I wrote (goes to check) 2340 lines (wow it's actually even) which isn't much but still there are a lot of 2 line selection rows which are annoying to write, and CK just came in and added a row or more of new code to the html thus messing everything up. It's not like it failed the first time he did it but CK constantly changes the code (yes again and again and again); there's no way to work with that.
The problem is really in the code structure. It's very html tailored to the main css design, there's no structure to it making anything more then changing the color a real pain and easily messed up (and it will be messed up as is because of the selectors required). My personal opinion is that if doesn't look like xml (which the current html clearly does not) then it's not solid data and you're not going to end up with anything other then the one design it was made after. A suggestion would be to have a code base with a xhtml version of ap for styling, where then you can create your style based on that. If the site has features added the code is updated and a new version published and you can create for instance another style that works with the new code, and your old one still works with the old code (which is still available). But I'm not going to bother marking something like this as a suggestion since (Duh!) it's never going to happen.
The vast majority usually work perfectly if I fire up Firefox or at least IE (the latest versions) but for AP some things actually don't work compared to other not so mainstream browsers (like quoting; and style stuff like some titles are way beyond looking out of place in firefox I see some of them with negative margins).
What's the base browser everything works? Flock? =/ could it be its lolifox? xD (what was it equivalent of firefox 1.5?)
You have multiple images.
[a] One person tags a image White Hair
[b] Another person tags it whitehair
[c] Yet another, White hair (it's not strange to capitalize just the first it's wiki style =P)
[d] And another use Grey Hair for his image
[e] Another uses white
Do you see the problem. Having a in-finite tag pool you do nothing but ask: "How would you name this image?" instead of defining the image as a tagging system should. It also has little meaning in searches, sure I have a lot of tags but what good does that do me, I would probably have to find the 30-40 tags used for the thing I want (I might be interesting in searching for far less images). It's probably easier to search for anime meeting a certain theme and then search for the anime on AP and browse their categories rather then use tags.
Really? are expectations that low =/
Well then, is there a reason why (at least the basic parts of) the source isn't open source? you would then have open problem solving to help fix these particularly annoying ones like the page bug.

[4] a basic post preview please =|"

"...[1] New theme or something like minimalistic/full theme thing, where version 6 has two themes one with all the useless fluff and space hogging and inconsistency the current one has, and one where every visual aspect is there for a purpose, which is to say:
[1a] No shadow-bevel hybrid like you have now around the thread container. (that's not a shadow and it's not a bevel either it's just a small gradient that doesn't make sense at all) Actually most of the shadows don't make sense, they're all too random and different.
[1b] Not so much space for the navigation on top (I can see the nav, banner, some options and a few lines of the first post) The navigation at the footer of the page is a good example of a better nav; nice and flush with not much unused space.
And then there's also...
[1c-part I] Too much inconsistent information. Why are the controls just scattered around? Why is the does the Got Something to say? and thread title look the same. Or that we have the same style for the message box. I see a little arrow bellow my first line when I type my message. The two warning above the post... why are there in different coloured boxes?
[1c-part II]There are colour leaks, over used 1px borders and miss-alignment or overlaps everywhere (hint: they look bad).
[1d] Any reason why a 1 line post will take the same space as a 6 line post?
[1e] There is severe incosistencies between browsers.
[1f] The banner. I really love the old banners, the new ones... all I see is a some gradient of colour sometimes I might get a glimpse in the corner of a body part (got knows what it is). Change it so the wall is resized so it's with (or height presuming with would make height too small) is that of the banner and then crop. That way we might get to see more then nothingness... (I would mind changing to the old banners they were awesome)
[1g] The way the first line is bolded and has a increased font-size was just a bad idea IMHO.
[2] The selection that displays on the front page is useless. What happens is that you took the most popular walls at one time and placed them in some category, now people just come in and if they didn't see them they'll rate them... subsequently those walls become more and more "popular" and as it is now everytime I come back to AP.net all I see is those same old walls over and over again.
[3] Split the tags. Create a Set tag system and a User tag system. The user tags are the ones right now, the set tags work much the same, only you can only tag with existing set tags, so no more infinite-crap tagging. They are like preset relevant tags, like for example: neko-mimi (with alias: catgirl), mercha, vector, sunset, blidnfold, loli, white-hair (alias: grey-hair), black-hair, dress, skirt, short-hair etc

Flac is much better then mp3. Mp3 is popular since the files are 50x - 10x smaller then flac, but I'd always prefer flac over mp3."

"...I'm using it now as default browser and I'm pretty satisfied with it (it's technically still beta though).
Basic review:
* It's not sickly fast but it's well up there in speed with all the other browsers.
* It's got almost all you can want from it (and all the popular features)
* Memory consumption being high is bull
* Does it start a lot of processes? yes
* startup is the fastest ever
* If one blocks I can close it right? no, if one blocks the hole browser usually blocks so the hole "tab freezes rest are ok" is bull, since you have to close it all to stop that one tab. Sometimes it works but you have to wait. It does have crash recovery.
* it has issues with flash, or (better put) flash has issues with it (currently) this is it's biggest drawback
* it's clean and easy to use"

How would u define art??
1 year 3 weeks ago
"...Art is just something particularly interesting (and implicitly original). If what you're doing is tacking images and doing a hue adjustment on them, all of them, that would not be art or at least it wouldn't be for all of them just the first (presuming special case). But take the same images and use your imagination to think outside the box with them and make something cool, and you've got art."

I don't even remember a period of history called "when the US had it's depression spread across the world" or anything particularly special on my end or in the rest of the world when you all went through that period.
At the time when you had the great depression the rest of the world was simply in a similar situation... Frankly it's you who followed the rest of the world into depression not the other way round."

What makes us all watch anime as opposed to movies of the same genre
1 year 3 weeks ago
"Not to mention how lame it looks when they do it. Generally I loathe anything that goes "<anime/manga title> Live Action", I don't think I've ever witnessed a good one (truth be told I've not tried all that many). Movies are ok, I watch one from time to time but I'm really picky and have high expectations.
Movies don't seem to try weird non-sense like anime (used to) do.

"...Playing computer games in the dark. Playing computer games 4-6 hours straight, particularly shooters etc Visiting sites with god awful colors and design. (things like annoying colors) That will kill your eyes.
There are, or were at a least, protective screen that you would stick over your screen. (personally they look like colored glass to me) If you don't want to risk eye damage use a LCD monitor, stay in a bright lit room, and you should be fine.
Personally I wouldn't worry too much about your eyes. Your mouse is so much more dangerous. Try waving around your left and right hand from the wrist. Do you notice anything? If no, that's good."

IE vs. Firefox vs. Opera

"...I can't believe some people said Opera was slower then Firefox.
The poster above who said he likes Firefox because it has skins almost made me laugh.
Opera is the fastest, most secure and stable of all the browsers, it's also the most standard compliant, something which I personally like!
I use Firefox a little more then Opera though... not because of the extensions, I know how to get all the functionality of Firefox extensions into Opera in 5minutes. The reason is I'm more used to using Firefox when I work, I guess I'm more accustomed to the specific shortcuts. I still love Opera."

"And your point with this is? I do not share your generalization there: I am a non-interesting human being, simple and not so wonderful whose existence barely fills a glass let a alone the imagination.
And where may I ask did you come up with evil, neither and both.
Evil is just a fancy word in fiction to refer to the enemy, it means nothing in your context. To say one is evil is to say they are against all your beliefs. "Neither" means void. Only machines are void! As for "both", it is simply stupid, well just my opinion. It's like saying a number is both odd and even at the same time.
