After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

What's your take on killing animals?

4 months 3 weeks ago

"To answer the topic question, it's not immoral if you kill animals for food or as eronth said, population control. It's only disgusting if you kill animals for sport. But then again, killing animals for sport is also part of nature. Dolphins attack and kill porpoises for no apparent reason, too. Is it immoral that some animals such as hippos would kill the offspring of other hippos (and the father) just so that they could mate with the female hippos? Sure is, but it's nature."

Frenemies

4 months 3 weeks ago

"Reminds me of the old student council from my school last time. They have to work together and appear bonded as a student body but are in actuality enemies of each other.

The world is made up of all types of people, and people who wear metaphorical masks are very common indeed. They don a different mask when they interact with different people, so it's not too surprising that some people can hate each other yet maintain a friendly disposition. Such a kind of person scares me, but hypocrisy is all part of the human nature. I myself have friends who talk about of each other when the other is not around, but there really isn't much I can do about it. Just live and let live."

How important is money to you?

4 months 3 weeks ago

""Money is not the most important thing in the world. Love is. Fortunately, I love money." -Jackie Mason

Money is essential to live in this world, therefore, it is very important to me. Without it, how am I going to pay for utility bills, food, entertainment and etc? I've always been a spendthrift (a stark contrast to my sister, who splurges more money than she can earn), because I know the significance of cash. It can't buy love, but it can sure as hell buy materialistic happiness... or pleasure, if you desire. Such things can't be carried with you to the grave, so to speak (unless you want to carry your PlayStation 3 with you in your deathbed, but that's not the point), but money can be passed down to your kids or be donated to the charity. Even if it loses its importance to you (since you're pushing up daises and all), but it will be important to others.

Anyway, it's important to me. Period."

Controller or No Controller?

4 months 3 weeks ago

For gamers who have not been catching up with the E3 or read the news about Microsoft's Project Natal, it is a code name for a "controller-free gaming and entertainment experience" for the Xbox 360. It claims that it will soon revolutionize the way of gaming as YOU are the controller. I'd like to hear your views on it.

Personally, I don't really support the idea of no controller. Not that I detest change, but controllers have been part of our gaming experience all these time, and I'd prefer to sit down after a hard day of work and play my games, not jumping around frantically like a monkey. Sure, it's exercise, but that's not why I bought my gaming console for.

Indeed, many would say that the very definition of gamers, the era of gaming has shifted to a more casual gaming experience as seen by the popularity of the Wii and its shovelwares (not that Wii doesn't have good games with depth, in its defense). I get the feeling that Microsoft is trying to emulate Nintendo, letting players move around and break everything in the ro-, I mean, get into the game. It's quite disturbing and depressing to see these companies trying to milk as much money out of their cash cows in utter disregard for the previous generation of gamers who actually prefers controllers.

Kotaku
"Sorry to sound elitist, but I like that not everybody understands how to play games, and I doubt that I'm alone," says Lantz, who's also director of New York University's Game Center. "That games require effort and a particular kind of tricky literacy is one of the things that makes them cool. Would pianos be better if everyone could play them? Would punk rock sound better if your grandparents liked it?"

Mr. Lantz isn't alone in this line of thinking. I for one do not welcome this change. Gamers, for that matter, aren't that hard to become. You simply need to pick up the controller, sit down and practice how to play, just like any sport or musical instrument.

In conclusion, I'd like to quote some of the comments from Kotaku which I very much agree with, and I'd like to share with you all.

I find the idea of no controllers to be unsettling at the least. I remember when I was in high school and was home sick, I would finally have some time to play games. So if I had the flu and could barely move, why on Earth would I want to get up and move all around? That's just one example, but I just don't think the complete abolition of controllers is a wise road to go down. The idea of having to play God of War and be flailing my arms around for 4 hours is disturbing to say the least.

i dont think any self respecting gamer wants to 'be the controller'. the concept is fundamentally flawed. no serious game is played by waggling your limbs around, and no gamer who plays for hours on end would possibly be interested in doing that. i dont i will see motion sensing technology in my lifetime that is accurate and precise enough to replace a controller for a real game.

Gamers like controllers. We don't want to hold our arms up for long periods of time in front of us to use an invisible wheel to drive! I love my controller, I love to chuck it at people when I'm mad so that I don't have to hurt my fist, and I agree with Lantz, I like the barrier that is set between gamers and non gamers.

Why are we here?

Whay are we alive? We live in a world with poverty, war, disease, hatred, and much much more. This world, in my eyes, is a horrible place to live in. What's stopping us from just jumping off a bridge, or jumping off a building, or anything else that can kill us. What is stopping us? I'm not saying that you or I should kill ourself, I'm justing saying what is stopping us from killing ourself? There are two things that are stopping me. These two are anime and the thought of people being sad because I'm gone.

So I ask you two questions, Do you think this world is a horrible place to live in, why or why not? Also, what is stopping you from killing yourself?

Remember, I'm not saying we should kill ourself.

What stops us? Well, because we have things that we hold dear to, or people that love you. That is why we don't commit suicide. Of course, there's also religion, 'cause some religion says that suicide's a sin and it will lead you a one-way ticket to Hell, so they are afraid to kill themselves. There's also the human instinctive nature of self-preservation, the need to maintain one's survival. Lastly, there's the fear of death. People don't dare to kill themselves. I think I have a simple reason why we're here. To put it bluntly, spread forth and multiply to ensure the survival of our species. That's the meaning of life... well, in the biological standpoint.

This world is a horrible place to live in if you focus mainly on the negative aspects of life. If you only look at war, death, bloodshed, destruction of the environment, injustice, the shameless and infuriating things humans have done (a.k.a those mentioned above). However, there are good things in life. I think I've droned on enough, so I'll stop here.

what's the thing you most hate about school?????

Tens

I hate school because...

...it's boring. All you do in college is go to the classroom and the professor starts lecturing right away. Blah blah talking about boring things. There's no group activities or anything you just sit there and listen to the same monotone voice and fall asleep. It's rare that I get a professor that actually LOOKS happy and cracks a lot of jokes. Then your grade all depends on a couple tests which puts a lot of pressure. :T

Aye, damn right. Even the voices of teachers are hypnotizing, enticing you to sleep. And the warm weather doesn't help much, either.

Harry Potter: The Eight Installment?

2 years 6 months ago

"
Whatever the fate of Harry Potter in his final book, one thing seemed sure: there would be a parting of the ways from J K Rowling.

Now, however, it appears that the seventh volume in the series may not spell the end of their relationship after all.

The multi-millionaire writer is understood to be preparing for one last look at the world of Harry, Hermione, Dumbledore and Voldemort after the publication of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in July.

Using background notes from the past decade, Rowling, 41, is set to compile an encyclopedia of magic to create the ultimate guide to the world of wizardry.

It would cover historical figures, such as the founders of Hogwarts school, along with elaborate genealogies of the main characters.

It would also provide a chance to flesh out other figures who merit only a passing mention in the books.

In March, Rowling described her sadness at reaching the end of the series.

"I always knew that Harry's story would end with the seventh book, but saying goodbye has been just as hard as I always knew it would be,'' she wrote on her website.

"I've never felt such a mixture of extreme emotions in my life, never dreamed I could feel simultaneously heartbroken and euphoric."

But suggestions of the plan have now appeared on her website, JKRowling.com.

Despite telling fans that it was "highly unlikely" that she would write any more Harry Potter novels, she wrote: "I might do an eighth book for charity, a kind of encyclopedia of the world so that I could use all the extra material that's not in the books."

The tantalising possibility has been confirmed by her agent, Christopher Little, who said Rowling had "retained all the rights in the Harry Potter series" and pointed out that this included any companion books "which she may indeed write herself".

The prospect of an authorised Harry Potter encyclopedia will have fans and booksellers salivating. Rowling's notes are believed to be almost as detailed as those made by JRR Tolkien for his fantasy Middle-earth, the setting of The Hobbit and his The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Sales of the encyclopedia would almost certainly rival those of Deathly Hallows, which has advance sales of 1.5 million on the internet store Amazon alone. It is tipped to break publishing records when it goes on worldwide sale on July 21.

An industry of Harry Potter books already exists. In addition to the seven books by Rowling, there are estimated to be about 190 Harry Potter-related titles cashing in on the success of the series, including What Will Happen in Book 7?, a book of predictions from the Harry Potter fan site -MuggleNet.com which has sold 300,000 copies in the US. Other titles include a business book called If Harry Potter Ran General Electric and Harry Potter and the Torah, which offers a Jewish perspective.

In 2001, Rowling wrote two slim companion Hogwarts schoolbooks. Quidditch Through the Ages and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them have raised more than £15 million for Comic Relief...
