"A part of Social Contract Theory is that people consent to be ruled. When they no longer consent, they will (attempt to) oust their ruler and (attempt to) install another one - or leave their governement's zone of influence and try to install their own government in an ungoverned zone or swear to another. Taken at face-value, and in a general sense, people who live under oppressive, fascist, or otherwise poorly-executed governments are okay with it. If they weren't, they would be rising up to overthrow the government or fleeing to another area.

By extension, if some group in my home was so unhappy with their government, even if I view the government as good and benevolent, that they rose up.. well, social contract theory says they're well within their rights to do so. So while I wouldn't really be happy about it, I'd be okay with it. "

Frenemies

"I see a 'Frenemy' as someone who hates someone else, but sees some value in making them as a friend. Lets say Person A hates Person B, but Person B has a lot of friends that Person A wants to hang out with but can't. If Person A gets in good with Person B, then Person A will be included in Person B's social circle and thus be able to hang out with Person A's friends.

It's a purely parasitic relationship, and I don't agree with it, but it happens. Its purely self-centric, and people who are that self-centered tend to be very unhappy people IMO."

what would happen if there was no anime in the world

"Yeah, I'll go with AssassinXXX's post on the first page. If it never existed, we'd never realize it was missing.
And on the other hand, it's difficult to trace how things would be different. In some ways, some people would be more social because there's less to keep them holed up in their house/apartment/room. In other wise, people would be more reclusive because they don't have what let them interface with other people. And who knows how many people wouldn't even exist because anime is what allowed some couples to form. There's just too many things that might or might not change to wrap the mind around."

Do fansubs help or hurt anime?

"To me, there's little difference between fan-subbed and industry-subbed anime. Don't get me wrong, when given the choice to sub or dub, I'm subbed all the way. But, if I get the gist of the original question right, it's the difference between a fan sub and the industry sub. It's my wish to see an anime the way it's meant to be seen. If Funimation and ADV can give me that, then I'll give them my dollars. If they can't, I'll stick to the fansubs. "

Yes. MJ was a part of my childhood, I grew up on Bad and Beat it. But about 15 or so years ago, he really started to get creepy. Very creepy. Sadly, I know Michael now more for the strange behavior more than his music, which puts a serious taint on his passing. When he passed, I'll admit to saying 'Good riddance' instead of 'I'll miss you'"

But I think to say that what we would consider to be pop - as opposed to rock, rap, etc etc - is the only thing in Japan, then you're woefully wrong. "

Which Career Path would you Follow?

"I used to absolutely love technology. At home, my family would always look to me to fix problems when they arrived, and I was also the one that was more 'gadget-minded' than anyone else. I like my toys. >_>; *huggles his new iPod Touch* <_<;

That being said, I wanted to pursue technology as a career. My first years in university have been spent in Computer Science, but a few courses really just destroyed me. Now I'm doing Managment. I guess I could still do technology if I got my degree in Managment and went back to junior college and picked up technology certifications. *shrug* But for now, I'm just going for a job that will just take care of a family. I want a wife, I want kids, I want to be able to take care of them to the extent that my wife would be able to stay home and take care of the kids. >_> *can't stand letting someone else other than he or his wife raising his childen*"

Looks or personality?

But from where I'm coming from, my best friends aren't the most attractive people in the world. Hell, I'm not very attractive myself. I will not just try to barge in on someone. math=hard or easy??

"1) I'm not a math genius. o.o I used to think I did, but then I got into harder math and it kicked my butt. >_> But for things like algebra, it just came naturally. O.o Don't try to do too many steps at once, keep things simple even if it means you have to show a lot of work. And show your work! That way the people correcting your papers can hopefully show you where you went wrong.
2) Yeah, not passing is always bad. You should be yelling at yourself if you fail, too. *nods firmly* At least get a C.
3) Mathematical topic? Besides Mathematical Induction, Disctrete Math was pretty fun. Physics is nice, too.
4) I passed Algebra 2 during my highschool days with a 96, but precalc was a 70. >_>"

"I'm more understanding in a forum like this, because a significant percentage of the population are not native English speakers. That being said, it really drives me up the wall when people say things like 'u' and 'ur' and 'sk8er' and stuff like that. Someone could drop complete phislosophical masterpieces in chatspeak and I would completely miss it because I'd be too busy looking down on the person's choice of langauge. To me, that's a grammar issue. XD

As far as everything else.. typos, I understand. Occasional errors in general is fine. Nobody's perfect. Just the deliberabe carelessness/laziness drives me up the wall."

"Here in the States, its easy to get out of the way. Call up a family member in the middle of the country and go on a 'vacation' for a few days until things calm down.
In places like Japan, I guess you can move to another side of the country.. like Okinawa to Tokyo.. rent a capsule at a capsule hotel for a day or two and then head back home."
