After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

The Kojima New project

"Hells yeah it is. I personally think Kojima is letting the success of Metal Gear Solid go to his head a bit as it's all ever he does now and talks about. He's hinted a couple of times at Zone of the Enders 3 if people wanted it yet he hasn't seen that through apparently because it's looking like his two announcements at E3 are going to be MGS for both PS3 and PSP which is disappointing.

As for Boktai, meh."

inFamous

6 months 2 days ago

"I found inFamous to surprisingly be an amazing game. On first glance, I wasn't expecting much off the Sly developers as they only had experience with platformers and not this whole grand-sandbox action game. But upon firing up the demo, I was pleasantly surprised just by how addictive and fun it was.

I've had the game for a good day now and I'm pretty sure I'm halfway through now as I couldn't actually put the controller down and that says a lot about the game to me. You would think that having such out of control powers would make the game slightly biased towards you but it's actually pretty amazing how fast you can be killed if you're reckless. Also I have to say I adore his slick movements in climbing and gliding around town because it actually feels like you're in control of the most awesome and slick character in the world.

That being said, I have a few complaints. Nothing major but the graphics, for me, aren't top-scale. What we've seen in GTA4 shows that a sandbox game doesn't have to be classed down in terms of graphics so I thought inFamous was a bit slacking in that department. That being said, I'm a fan of their individual cartoony-ish look they were going for as it really suits the game. Another complaint is that I wasn't particularly that pleased by the whole moral issue, whilst some choices are nicely laid out and explained by Cole himself, others are pretty basic and just boil down to "good" or "evil". Maybe Mass Effect has tainted the way I see this forever as there were so many choices that kinda sunk into that 'gray' area in between and weren't clear cut bad or good choices but I really wished they implented more choices like that so the whole moral thing played a bigger part on the game.

But minor complaints aside, it's an absolutely awesome game. It's looking like the average length of the game is about 7-9 hours or so if you just concentrate on story missions and about 14+ if you go after the sidequests so a nice good lengthy game in this era of gaming.

A definete sleeper hit of the year and in my books, an underdog in the Game of the Year category which consists only of Killzone 2 and Resident Evil 5 so far."

When will he announce a brand new franchise?

Well, to be fair, he has started the Zone of the Enders franchise and Boktai series, with one of the two having quite a strong following. Though I'd have to agree, I'm growing tired of him saying he's going to step away from the MGS series only to go back on his word and work on it. Just let it die already and give me what I want. Zone of the Enders 3."

So far, the game has only been announced for Japan and considering Namco's track record for bringing over remakes (Tales of Symphonia for PS2, Tales of Phantasia for the PSP and Tales of Rebirth for the PSP were never released) to the US or Europe, though Tales of Eternia was released in Europe and the PSP doesn't have a region format. Because of this, many people are somewhat concerned that they won't be able to play this title.

This isn't really a big deal anymore. The PS3 can play any game from any region if you so wanted to import it. So for those who can read Japanese, they could probably import it when it's released in the land of the Rising Sun and for Europeans worried about no release date for them, they can import from the US. Just a shame other consoles don't follow suit with this region free business."

Resident Evil 5?

"For those complaining about
SPOILER (click to view)
then I'll assume you haven't heard about;

SPOILER (click to view)

Also in regards to the last boss, I didn't think it was that bad. I have to admit that I felt it was a bit tacked on but it was still fun. Also for whoever complained about fighting 'it' 3 times (can't remember who exactly) well, you fought James Marcus 2 or 3 times, Birkin 3 or 4 times, Alexia 3 times and even Tyrant in the original twice. Plus the first battle was hardly a battle as actually fighting them was not the aim of the 'battle'.

Mercernaries is certainly fun co-op and Versus is worth a whirl if anyone is upset about longetivity. Oh and btw, the Darkside Chronicles isn't a total remake of RE2. It's going to be like Umbrella Chronicles, selected bits remade for light-gun fun."

I can understand being stationary while firing a gun, but while swinging a knife? I want to swing with freedom!

Whilst this is certainly not favorable, I can see WHY this would be done. Imagine how complex the control system would be to move and knife with the default control set they have assigned. It would just make for clumsy and uncomfortable gameplay. That being said, having completed the game, in hindsight the knife really isn't that important unless you're going on a knife only run.

CrimsonCyanide
I don't expect or want Resident Evil to stay the same. Hell, RE 4 is one of my all time favorite games. I just don't feel that Capcom is really advancing forward that much as they are moving in a different direction.

Not meaning to be harsh but to be fair completely fair, Resident Evil's gameplay, art design and layout was exactly the same in every game until Resident Evil 4. I don't really understand why people are complaining so much about this, why does a game need to re-invent itself every iteration despite having a great system going for them already? They've added new elements so it isn't exactly a copy and paste job they've done, no-one complains about COD games being pretty much the same nor MGS games being the same or Gears of War or Halo games being the same as the previous game so why is Resident Evil getting slack?

CrimsonCyanide
I also need to talk about Sheva. It's like Capcom wanted you to play co-op with this game. Sheva displays some seriously poor AI.

You won't see me complaining here, in a dream world I would love for them to do away with Sheva for offline gameplay, she's just really poor towards the end and in most cases the result of game overs or at least a major factor.

CrimsonCyanide
Speaking of which, there is far too much ammo in this game. Resident Evil, to me, was always about picking and choosing your battles.

That is only for the beginning of the game, once you reach Chapter 3-ish the ammo begins whittling down quickly and you have to ration and pick your battles, what with stronger enemies and all.

I'm not defending the game or saying it's God's gift to gaming but I do think it's getting some unnecessary slack. It's not a masterpiece when it comes to story and the pacing is pretty poor and there are some bits of the game where I shake my head in disappointment but it's still a fantastic game which hasn't really changed much of the formula shown in past games. As for the 'horror' complaints, I'm sure if you go back and play the old ones that most of those scares were cheap scares so it's not exactly a huge loss. But if you still want that, Dead Space should be out in a game store near you."

Will the PS3 die???

10 months 1 week ago

"
Spudsy
The PS 3 will survive simply because the average American consumer is completely idiotic.

The PS3 doesn't rely on American consumers. In all three regions, the American market is the weakest, the PS3 is strongest within European territory. So as "idiotic" as Americans may be, it doesn't relatively mean much.

Spudsy
The PS 3 alone survives only on the fact that it sells to college audiences because it plays Blu-Ray and plays all of EA Sports games much better then on the X-Box 360.

Surviving on being a cheap blu-ray player? Yes, that is a solid factor. Surviving on EA Sports sales? No. If you still insist then prove me wrong with market statistics of the top 10 PS3 games and their sales and we'll see.

Spudsy
As for stand alone titles, the PS 3 has one game worth mentioning: Resistance: Fall of Man (no NOT MGS 4 because it's a movie not a game, and still sucked).

Opinion =/= Fact

The PS3 pretty much has the same library as the 360 so any multi-platform games are worth mentioning. MGS4 is a great game even if you don't like it. Want to see why? Check out how much its sold, fan opinion and critics' opinions. All very strong, probably not as strong as Sony would have wanted but they live mostly in a dreamland anyway.

Spudsy
The X-Box 360 will forever have it beat in stand alone titles and the Wii is not in the same market since it's marketed towards the obese (see Wii Fit [fad games, totally stupid]) and children.

Can't particularly argue here. The 360 has run off with the lead now, one can only hope PS3 does something to at least semi-catch up. Another price drop and some exclusives would be nice.

Spudsy
That may bore you but it's what the market demands the most. The reason you haven't seen a lot of huge RPG projects in the works anymore, or good ones at that, is because RPGs don't sell as well as FPSes and Sports games. FPSes and Sports games win you the college market, a market that is imperishable and very very expansive. That's just the way the US market works. In Japan, RPGes are the big selling blocks, but need I remind you the Pacific Ocean separates your demand for more RPGes and the supply of them. Different culture, different needs it what it all comes down to.

Semi-true. The real reason you haven't seen any huge RPG projects is because, from what I undestand not fact, is that the Japanese video game industry is suffering. The western market has expanded and blown them out of the water and whizzes past whilst many Japanese companies are struggling to find a niche market for their games. Whilst RPGs are still popular, FPSes and other types of action games are where the mainstream gamer audience are leaning more towards now. So to really attract huge attention, hype and popularity, any next-gen RPG would need to do what Final Fantasy used to do back in the day and which is re-define the genre and make it exciting again because interest is dwindling. Which is why, I assume, you don't see many RPGs at the moment (apart from the ever-awful Square releases) is because they are trying to make that next "big" RPG.

Spudsy
And yet the only ones worth playing out of that list and has a chance to actually be surprisingly good is God of War 3. Fallout 3 wasn't bad though.

Your opinion, not general opinion. There is a difference. You can't assume a console's failings as a whole because it doesn't suit your particular needs. That's like me saying Halo is awful thus the 360 is and always will be.

Kid-Grave
the PS3 was nothing more than a paper weight in 2007 - 2008

You are kidding, right? PS3 had a great year last year, it actually picked up a lot of steam and became a proper respectable console. 2006-2007, yes, that was an awful paper weight year but last year was very good for the company. Not amazing like 360 but that would take a miracle at the moment.

Kid-Grave
Dude it matters alot whether it's dead last or not, Yes the PS3 will keep on hurting even after the prices cuts down in half until it dies

It's a shame PS3 is dead last but it's not unexpected. It had an extremely slow start but it's slowly picking up, if the console was to reduce by half then yes, a lot of people would be buying it. If not for the games then for the Blu-ray player. Personally a price cut would do Sony more good than harm. As for the PS3 dying, no, it's not possible in the near future or the forseeable future. Let's remember, SONY are behind the Playstation brand and it's not like they are a feeble corporation.

Welcome back to AP, Spudsy."

the movie was made specifically for the gamers so why would they take away a new experience and put in an experienced experience LOL

The movie wasn't made for gamers at all. It was made for everyone. If it was made for gamers then movie would have failed spectacularly both on a financial level and on a critical level. Your average person wouldn't want to waste $6+ in watching 2 hours of something only a gamer could enjoy and critically, I know no respectable gamer or fan of the series who liked it as it was an atrocious adaption. I'm all for different takes on different things but there was nothing redeeming about the end product.

soraxxx
examples plz?

The laser corridor scene from the first movie is one I can come up with straightaway. The camera work there does not make it feel exciting and it also does a bad job of having tense close shots of characters because it just feels like they just threw a confused and amateur camera man into the scene with no direction and the camera and went "Go! Film!" so we're just left waiting for the next scene and are not particularly emotionally invested or captivated by what's going on. The scripting is awful and none of the lines feel "wow!" or "real", the acting is shoddy, just look at Spence when he's trying to pretend that he wants the other guy to do a fast job in saving them. Awful, awful.

Let alone the fact that it defies all logic throughout the whole scene. The commander says "Get down!" yet we have one woman just standing there going O_O at a laser before it takes her head off. Now THAT is absolutely ridiculous, as shocked as I may be by the sudden change of situation, there is not a chance in hell I'd be so shocked that I'd just go O_O at an incoming laser beam.

That's all I can really think of off the top of my head as I only saw the first and second movie once. Thank God."

Watchmen (2009)

"I saw the first trailer back when I went to go see Tropic Thunder back in August and I had to say, just from that short minute I found myself captivated. I admit, that I am a closet comic book nerd but there was something really interesting about a comic book revolved around heroes who *didn't* have cliched super-powers (minus one particular character).

Then the second trailer came out and I was even more captivated, somehow I began to fall in love with this whole concept and the story from what I heard and much like pink-sakura, I ended up running to my closest book store and sat there for a good while reading through the graphic novel (I should really buy it...) and my god, it is an amazing read. I would strongly recommend it to anyone who's a fan of graphic novels or even just a fan of captivating, complex and interesting stories.

I look forward to the movie, I'll probably be shaking in my chair in excitement throughout the whole thing. Rorschach FTW!"

THE RESIDENT EVIL MOVIES AND YOUR OPINION

11 months 1 week ago

"The movies are horrible. That's it, that's all they'll ever be. HORRIBLE.

Why? Firstly, they don't follow the games. Fair enough, no game movie does follow the game's storyline (that's another rant in itself) but the storyline in the movies felt like the direct equivalent to urinating on everything that made the games good and adding elements which transcended past good cheesy fun to ludicrous components. Nemesis, for example, did they really need to add a hand to hand fight? Did they even play the game? You could barely get close to Nemesis without the stinging fear of death yet in this movie, Alice just strolls on up to him and beats the living hell out of him. The almighty Nemesis who stalked Jill around for the entire of Resident Evil 3 destroying pretty much everything he saw, living through the most impossible things and here's Alice beating him easily in a fist-fight. Absolutely. Stupid.

Lastly, even as a movie it's an awful, awful, AWFUL piece of film. The scripting is uninspired and painful, the music is atrocious but bearable as that seems to be the generic rule for all horror films now (let's throw some heavy metal in there, woo!), the acting is... just "oh dear God" worthy and the editing and camera-work is amateurish. It's a really terrible piece of film-work.

All in all, I hope Paul Anderson gets hit by a bus. I would say Milla Jolovich but I'll spare her as she was amusing in the Fifth Element."

Does it still have the old turret system like it has in the first 3 games. I hate it, I like the ability to actually move the character the way a person would actually move.

The character's movements are pretty much exactly the same as Leon's movements in Resident Evil 4, the only differences being slightly more agile in some departments."

However, since they announced the split-screen co-op, this game is a must for me. If it still turns out to be basically RE4, re-skinned, it's still great if it's that with co-op.

Watch the latest trailers, it's not that much like RE4 anymore though from the first couple of trailers I would see your point.

SuperVegeta1986
Anyway but yeah I definately think that co - op is gonna rock and its about time they added co op to an RE game since the series has practically been begging for it since day one. (what with all the games featuring (ussually) to main lead playable characters. (back in the day I thought for Sure Resident Evil 0 was gonna offer co op, but while the game was good, I was sadly mistaken.)

I think a lot of people where disappointed that Resident Evil 0 had a co-op system but I think the reason they didn't do it was because they weren't too sure how to implement it. Quite honestly I'm not a huge fan of the split-screen co-op now it isn't because I have anything against split-screen gameplay, heck, I'd love for more games to do it but it just seems to limit what you can see in this game and with a game that has as many enemies on screen as this one that looks to be a huge issue for me. I might try my hand at online co-op though."

"Fair enough but the Prince of Persia name is still a Ubisoft copyright so it would need to have the okay from them for him to be in it otherwise that's one complicated lawsuit brewing.

Going back to KH3, I don't think it'll feature Sora as Nomura has been rather coy and evasive of any questions about the trio of Sora, Riku and Kairi making a return for a third one. There isn't really much for Sora to do now, he's got what he wanted now, his island is back and his friends are together again. I think he might introduce another character and have cameos at best of the other 3."

I wasn't talking about the enemies being scary/exciting or not, I was saying that the new ones just aren't zombies. And to be honest, they seem very similar to the ones in RE4 and they weren't very scary nor exciting to me.

Zombies are technically the living undead and these guys are just that so they ARE zombies. =P I didn't find RE4 very scary either but that's probably because of the monotone enemy design, it felt like it lacked inspiration but I must say there are some enemies I think could be scary in RE5 or at least exciting. Like the Executioner for example."

They're not to me, zombies are supposed to be people that came back from the death, look creepy, act all stupid and all they care is eating human brains and stuff; not people with a virus who can communicate to each other to make plans and kill you because they're following someone's orders.

But as a lot of people say, those days of horror cliches are long past and can't fit into today's new age of 'horror'. You can't make those particular kind of zombies exciting anymore, especially with the new camera and gameplay system. Even if you put hundreds of them on the screen at once, it'd be fairly boring as they are as you said said 'stupid'. It's the same reason you don't see many movies anymore attempt to use that particular kind of zombie anymore. People are just more interested in the fast-paced kind of horror, the only truly horrifying about those zombies were the sheer number of them and that's not really good enough for today's high standards."

You probably won't know anything until Dissidia and one or two Final Fantasy 13 titles are released because if you haven't noticed Nomura is quite busy right now with his own game and a lot of design work on others.

At most we know that it might be a PS3 exclusive and will come out around 2011/2012 with Disney links being slightly pushed to the side for a more serious storyline."

"The change is the only way Resident Evil would have stayed popular and a main fixture in the industry. No current games would be able to use such an old gameplay and camera system and get away with it because gamers nowadays are easily frightened off and have little patience. So if it doesn't grab them instantly then the game is screwed, the changes they made have kept the Resident Evil series successful and still feel like Resident Evil so it isn't all bad.

And technically these guys ARE zombies, they're infected with a mix of the Nemesis virus and Las Plagas I believe."

"Am I the only one who was disappointed by this entry of the series? I'm not saying it was a bad game per say. I mean, I was generally excited for this game when it came out that I rushed out of my house that morning to go buy it but after that first week, the fun seemed to wear off. It's not due to the fact that I've got no-one else to play with as my sister is a real avid-lover of every entry no matter what and she's more than willing to give me a game but it's just the fun really wore off after a while and playing it seemed more like a hassle than a matter of fun.

I've tried customization, made some pretty nifty characters, run through the arcade and story mode with everyone, dabbled my hand at the Tower of Souls thing but beyond that, there's really no substance for me. SC3 gets a lot of slack but to be honest, I had more fun with that than this particular entry. The RPG mode, whilst definetely not the best thing, added some life and substance to the single player experience and was a fun way of utilizing custom characters. The story mode in the last game involved more story and better cutscenes too, of course, they were repetitive and featured a certain giant cog rolling every time you decided to run through it but the cutscenes added depth and unique situations for every character. Multiple endings was a HUGE plus too.

Whilst this game feels more like a solid addition to the series overall, it just feels like they stripped a little too much off and at the same time took away the substance. Well, that's my two cents anyway."

When I tried playing FF VII again about a year ago, I couldn't stand it and stopped right after picking up Aerith. This is not a game that ages well. Pop in Tales of Phantasia or Chrono Trigger and I'll be choppin' away for hours at a time.

Yeah, I just had to say I don't agree with that at all. FFVII is a game that ages beautifully. I didn't have much liking for this game back when it was first released and now I absolutely adore it after picking it up again. It's possibly one of my favorite games of all time now.

Though getting back on topic, a lot of games age horribly. It just depends on the way you prefer your entertainment really, whether your likes and dislikes change, adapt or stay the same, etc. Personally I find that treasure the old games more as the years roll by."
