After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

swine flu...
6 months 3 weeks ago
"Every year there's some new outbreak of something, and every year the media gets everyone in a huge panic over nothing, and every year the outbreak for that year kills very few people.West Nile, SARS, Bird Flu, and now Swine Flu. People need to get a grip and stop believing 100% of everything they hear on TV.
The news keeps repeating the same information. "X number of people INFECTED" Yet they only mention the actual death toll in passing.
I'm kinda sick and tired of hearing about the Swine Flu and people talking about how it's so horrible and an epidemic like it's going to wipe out the human race. Only 3 people are dead from it in the U.S.. 1 person died of it in Canada, and I think there were a couple in Europe too. How is that as horrible as everyone makes it out to be? Sure lots of people died of it in Mexico. Compare living conditions and health care there to that of the country you live in before panicking.
Then consider the low death count due to Swine Flu to the 36,000 people the normal flu kills every year in the U.S. alone."

Stealing Wallpapers

"First, no it isn't nor is it really 'illegal'. The waller doesn't own any rights to the characters used in the wall, and therefore doesn't have any rights over the wall itself. If anything the wallers are breaking the law themselves by using copyrighted characters in their walls (I doubt any of them have written permission from the copyright holders). Wallers don't get sued though as long as they don't try to sell their wallpapers. This is because of something called 'fair use' or something like that.
How can someone steal something that doesn't belong to you in the first place? These 'wallpaper robbers' are also protected from the copyright holders under the same 'fair use' clause as the waller is.
I sometimes use wallpapers found here to make Windows Logon Screens with, and no I don't always ask for permission to do so. There are a few reasons why I don't ask. The biggest being; I'm not going to wait 2-3 weeks for someone to decide to reply to me to tell me whether or not I can use it. By then I'm onto doing other things.
This isn't to say that it's ok to take walls and claim you created them though. I just don't really see anything wrong with taking a wall and using it as/in something else (with or without permission from the waller)."

Solid State Disk
9 months 3 weeks ago
"Personally I think moving parts is a thing of the past. When the whole Blu-ray HD-DVD 'war' was going on I disliked both (and still do). I think discs should be dropped altogether in favor of solid state alternatives. In the case of movie discs it would probably be flash drives.
Moving parts are susceptible to wear and tear. Discs can be easily damaged. A single scratch can render important data to be completely unreadable and the whole disc to be nothing more than beer coaster or rear-view mirror ornament.
Flash Drives are small and more portable. Aren't damaged as easily. Most HDTVs already have USB/firewire ports built right into them. This could be taken advantage of. Rent/Buy a movie, get home, switch TV to Movie mode, plug Movie into port on the side or front of your TV, and it starts up just like it would if you put a DVD in a DVD player. Only difference is no moving parts, no friction, no heat, no wear and tear. Plus you could carry around your favorite movie/anime on a stylish keychain! You could never do that with a disc that's 12cm across.
Storage would be similar. A drawer would do just fine to store your flash drive movies since they don't need to be protected by stupid bulky cases.
I don't think it's been done yet, but I don't think it would be that hard for flash drives to have the same if not more capacity than a DVD9.
I think it's the same with HDDs. Why are we still stuck with things that spin? The wheel was invented thousands of years ago. It's 2009! Move on already!"

Could there be a third season? *mad spoilers*
9 months 3 weeks ago
"I'd like to see an OVA all about Kallen. Can't get enough of her! Maybe even a spin off series. "The Kallen Adventures" (Working title lol)Oh and they should make that episode 3.25 (or was it 3.5?) picture book thing into an actual full length episode. No the whole episode wouldn't consist of the bath scene! Get your mind out of the gutter! lol A large chunk of it would though.

Various Questions
9 months 3 weeks ago
"At first I was going to make a single threadto ask a few questions that have been bugging me lately. Unfortunately, I forgot what the questions where. In order to not create a million topics when/if the questions return to me, I'll just ask them here (if that's ok). So I made the title a little non-specific.
Now on with the show...
Ever since I remember there's been a weird issue with page numbers in the galleries. The gallery will show something like 46 pages, but as I click through the pages I'll eventually get notices saying "There are no images in this gallery." I was wondering why does it show page 46 if the gallery really stops at page 42 (random numbers)? I'm using Firefox 3.0. Is it a problem on my end or is it ' normal' site behavior and/or a known bug?
Oh and in the FAQ papers are described as a sort of currency. When you download a scan does the paper you spend go to the person that submitted the scan or does it just disappear out of existence? I assume the latter, but I've been known to be wrong in the past (happens very rarely :p). I never hurts to ask I figure."

"Adding to that it might be cool if it remembered what you've 'purchased' so that in the event you need to re-download something in the future you don't have to pay for it a second time."

"Ok, so i can add specific walls/scans to a wish list. I don't understand how that enables me to track and be notified on new additions to a category.
Like my Code Geass example. If one hour from now someone added a new wall to the Code Geass category, I wouldn't know about it until I decide to check back there. Regardless of my wish list.
My suggestion was to be able to opt into notifications for when new walls are added under specific titles. Similar to how I can choose to be notified when someone replies to a thread I'm interested here in the forums.
Wish lists and favorites are only about specific walls. Unless I missed something."

What do u think of nudity in Wallpapers??
9 months 4 weeks ago
"As Omni said sex does sell, but that's not always the issue. There's nothing more beautiful than the human body. I think artists of ol' understood this. Take a trip through a museum or look up some old paintings online. You'll find a lot of paintings of nude or semi-nude models. These are considered beautiful works of art. Why should a wallpaper be any different?
Through time though it seems society has gotten prudish. Sex sells these days because nudity and sexuality these days is something taboo and forbidden. It attracts people to it like a rebellious child only doing something because their parents said it was wrong.
Some people aren't able to get past the "OMG Boobs!" or "Oh noez! A penis!" to appreciate the beauty in a piece of art though, but that has more to do with the person's maturity level.
As with all things there's a time and a place for nudity. As long as wallpapers with nudity are tagged as such, then I don't think people should be complaining about it."

Computer Generated(CG) vs Traditional Hand Drawing
9 months 4 weeks ago
"Like others have said both have their ups and downs.I like a balance of both as long as the drawings don't look like they do in Dragon Ball. I really don't like the art style in Dragon Ball with all the extra lines for shading and stuff. I find it makes the image look 'dirty'."

do u think barack obama will do a good job in america?
9 months 4 weeks ago
"So far I think he's done a good job. The day after he became president he was already making things happen. Closing of Guantanamo Bay and leaving Iraq in 16 months are pretty huge steps at any time and to think this was just his first day on the job.Doing what he did comes with a lot of risk. He 'opened with a bang'. Does that mean that every thing else he does will pale in comparison? Any singer will tell you that when you start on too high a note, it's hard and sometimes impossible to go any higher. Is this the fate that awaits Obama? Only time will tell I guess."

"I don't know if this has been suggested before. If it was turned down, I'm unaware of it because I couldn't find it.
Anyways, I think it would be cool to be able to mark wallpaper categories as watching (like you can do with people's profile). Say someone posted a new Code Geass wallpaper and I had that category as watched, then I'd get a PM/email to notify me of the new addition.
The same idea could apply to scans and tags. Although for tags I assume it would be quite a server load."
